Chapter 1 - Prologue – The Bargain

The hospital room smelled of antiseptic and fear. Machines beeped softly, marking the fragile rhythm of a boy's failing heart. Beside the bed, a man sat with his head bowed, his powerful hands trembling — hands that had built empires but now felt useless against death.

His son — his precious, fragile son — lay pale and breathless, each inhale a battle, each exhale a reminder of how little time was left. Doctors had tried. Money had been poured into every possible treatment. But wealth could not conjure a miracle.

The father rose, his shadow stretching long across the sterile floor. His voice was a whisper, but heavy with desperation.

"There must be another way."

That night, in a hidden corner of his world, he found it. A man named Anne, desperate and poor, offered him what no hospital could. A deal. A nephew's life in exchange for money that would save his starving family.

The father's chest ached with guilt, but when he imagined losing his son, the guilt was silenced by fear. He agreed.

Two weeks in Korea, he told himself. Two weeks to see the boy, to make a choice, to save his son.

But deep down, he knew the truth. This was no bargain. This was the beginning of a curse — one that would bind his family to love, hatred, and blood for generations to come.
