Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Emperor of Mankind

Tzeentch's will swept across the boundless divine realm, his phantom figure, holding twenty lesser souls, arrived before the Golden Sun.

"Emperor." The Chaos God paused slightly, his throat working as he uttered the Golden Sun's identity.

The Emperor—the Golden Will referred to himself as such.

At the end of the Aeldari Empire, another intelligent species, 'Humanity,' rose in the real universe, and the Emperor was the strongest psyker among them.

Identified by the Lord of Change, the Emperor neither acknowledged nor denied it, saying in a low voice, "Where is what I need?"

Tzeentch handed over the lesser divinity in his hand, not taking the Emperor's impoliteness to heart, and chuckled softly, "Emperor? Heh heh."

The real universe was not lacking in powerful psykers; they could extinguish stars effortlessly, even twist space-time and manipulate the laws of the world.

But they could not be as powerful as the Emperor, capable of facing the Four Gods directly.

Any power came with a price, and using psychic abilities was no different; an equivalent price had to be paid in the Warp.

The Emperor could not only face the Four Gods directly but also use the power of the Warp without any scruples, all of which indicated that his essence was by no means human.

Tzeentch and the other Chaos Gods had long seen through the Emperor's true nature.

Beneath his human skin lay infinite power, love for humanity, and humanity itself, but deeper still, there was endless darkness!

The Emperor said no more; communication with the Warp had to be extremely careful, especially when facing the Lord of Change.

Facing the master of fate, revealing any superfluous action or word was extremely dangerous.

Golden psychic energy swirled around the red soul suspended on the tall spire, taking the twenty-one lesser divinities, and vanished into the Warp without a word.

"I look forward to the day you stand alongside us, Emperor." As the Emperor vanished into the Warp, Tzeentch's demonic voice, enticing and bone-chilling, came from behind him.

"I will never stand alongside you; I am the Emperor of Mankind, I am the Emperor!" Leaving these final words, the Golden Sun completely disappeared into the Warp.

Tzeentch's phantom smiled sinisterly.

"You will..." He muttered, gazing at where the Emperor had vanished, "We will witness the fall, witness the birth of the King of Darkness!"

[...]

He was the Emperor!

The Human Emperor! The Emperor of Mankind!

"Tzeentch's demonic Legion, there is nothing worth guarding here, return to my divine realm." The Lord of Change vanished from the Four Gods' border, taking his demonic Legion with him.

A new cycle had begun, and the Great Game would gain another—perhaps two—movers.

Khorne? A brute with nothing but muscles in his head. Slaanesh? A debauched harlot indulging in pleasure. Nurgle? A pile of rotten, decaying flesh.

Tzeentch had never placed the other gods on the same level as himself.

His brothers were merely indispensable characters in the "Great Game," necessary movers to keep the endless cycle going.

The Lord of Change returned to his palace and began to plan the specific details, calculating everyone and everything.

The Warp returned to peace once more.

Meanwhile, in the real universe, things changed and years revolved, the tide of life surged endlessly, and countless intelligent species rose and fell across the cosmos.

When the Aeldari Empire had not yet fully fallen, another species rose in the Milky Way; they called themselves "Humanity" and conquered the stars with technology and reason.

On their path of technological exploration, Humanity discovered the Warp at the "appropriate" time and used it to create the Warp drive.

From the 1st to the 15th Millennium, as Humanity rose from their origin world of Terra and extended their boundless desires towards the galaxy, manifest destiny decreed that Humanity would rule the galaxy.

From the 15th to the 25th Millennium, Human technology exploded. Certain Human groups, using powerful genetic technology, ascended to become the "Golden Men" and guided Humanity forward.

The Golden Men then created the bio-engineered "Stone Men" to assist them, and the Stone Men created thinking machines, the "Iron Man," to protect Humanity.

With the help of the Stone Men, Humanity lived in an affluent society, and when engaging hostile alien forces, powerful Iron Man Legions would annihilate their opponents.

All of this was thanks to the Human species' powerful technological strength; technology was Humanity's ultimate means of dominating the galaxy, and technology was also the necessary pillar for Human development.

After discovering the Warp, Humanity developed the Warp drive, enabling rapid interstellar travel and colonization of the entire galaxy.

As their understanding of the Warp deepened, Humanity discovered that the Warp could not only be used to traverse light-years and achieve faster-than-light travel.

After in-depth research, Humanity discovered psychic abilities, confirmed the existence of "souls," and regarded psykers as the "future."

This discovery excited Humanity; through genetic modification, they could even create artificial psykers.

Just as everything was thriving, with a vibrant and flourishing future seemingly within reach.

Humanity's creations, the "Iron Man" war machines with independent personalities and self-awareness, for unknown reasons, betrayed Humanity.

A rebellion spanning the entire Human species erupted!

An incredibly brutal war broke out between Humanity and machines, Creator and creation, with both sides using the most advanced forbidden weapons in an attempt to completely annihilate the other.

Entire star systems were destroyed by war weapons, stars were drained of energy and extinguished, and nanobots ravaged star sectors, devouring all life.

Massive war machines, like the World Serpent, embraced entire planetary equators, unleashing resonance fields that peeled Human skin, blood, and bone layer by layer into outer space.

Dioxysilicate viruses were used to eliminate machines and nanobots, and genophage phages eradicated Humanity at the genetic level.

The scale of the war was too vast, with both sides using every conceivable power to destroy the other.

So much so that it was recorded in the ancient Aeldari halls, and some Aeldari who were sympathetic to Humanity even participated in the war themselves, helping Humanity fight against the machines.

After paying a huge price, the Human species finally defeated the machines.

Thereafter, all Human mechanical creations no longer possessed independent personalities or self-awareness.

At this point, Human civilization was already teetering, like a candle in the wind, on the verge of extinguishing.

Without AI assistance, much technology was lost, making it difficult for Humanity to sustain itself, let alone maintain its vast galactic empire.

Alien species who had formed friendly treaties with Humanity tore off their masks of friendship, taking advantage of Humanity's weakened state to plunder and enslave populations, and steal technology.

The Human empire fractured under various blows, contact with Terra was severed, and distant colonies in far-off star systems gradually became independent.

Some worlds, cut off from external supplies, saw their civilizations gradually regress, and their inhabitants died in large numbers due to lack of contact and supplies.

Then, the residual poisons of the Warp erupted on various worlds.

The number of psykers surged, genetic degradation led to the appearance of a large number of mutants, and planetary governments, lacking strong armed forces, struggled to quell the mutations, gradually falling under the barbaric rule of Chaos and mutants.

From the 25th to the 30th Millennium, the entire Human civilization faced internal and external threats, gradually regressing amidst suffering and torment, with the species as a whole declining and sliding towards the brink of destruction.

Since Humanity first recorded history, this was the 30K era, an age of destruction that Humanity was heading towards.

As the Human species teetered, a man stepped forward, deciding to lead Humanity to once again stand at the pinnacle of the galaxy.

He was the Master of Mankind; his former name had long been lost in Human history, now he called himself: the Emperor!

The Human Emperor! The Master of Mankind!

No one knew his past, or rather, all of his past was recorded in the voluminous history of Humanity.

The Emperor belonged to the most special group within Humanity—the Perpetuals.

He lay hidden among his brethren, learning knowledge and accumulating wisdom over his long lifespan.

At the same time, he was a powerful psyker, his long lifespan allowing him to accumulate power and fully master this dangerous force.

He appeared in the spotlight of history, in Humanity's most ancient territory, the birthplace of Humanity: Terra, now it was called "Terra."

This planet had been heavily scarred during the civil war, with various technological barbarians and warlords wantonly ravaging the land, mercilessly destroying the birthplace of Humanity.

The Emperor used his accumulated genetic knowledge to create a Legion of genetically modified soldiers, the "Thunder Warriors," preparing to end the war and completely unify Terra.

Though powerful, the Thunder Warriors had serious flaws and could not adapt to the future warfare needed for Humanity to reconquer the galaxy.

After countless ideological struggles and practical considerations, the Emperor had no choice but to turn his gaze to the Warp, borrowing its dangerous knowledge to achieve Humanity's goal of unifying the galaxy.

Even before Humanity left Terra, the Emperor already knew of the Warp.

He deeply understood the dangers hidden within it, and constantly guarded against the power of the Warp throughout his long life. But at this moment, the galaxy awaited Humanity's reconquest.

Such a great undertaking needed to be completed in a short time, requiring the use of the Warp and reaching a consensus with the great powers of the Warp.

"Did you succeed?" When the Emperor's consciousness left the Warp and returned to reality.

The greeting beside him was low and hoarse, mixed with worry and anticipation/
