Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Robert's rebellion had grave consequences for the seven kingdoms. One dynasty fell, and another, even more unstable than the previous one, rose up. The demon of the trident emerged victorious, and with that, more than 40,000 soldiers marched to the king's landing, the kingdom's capital.

In this battle, the rebel forces had clipped the dragon's wings and claws. With this, the last forces loyal to the Targaryens were lost. Two knights of the royal guard were killed, one captured, and three missing. The countryside was left to its own devices. Thousands of young men who had joined the prince died, and all that remained was resentment toward the crown.

With this, Dragon Rock, the last Targaryen bastion, was completely isolated. Rhaegar had already sacked the entire population of the crown lands, leaving only a few remnants of loyalty: elderly women and children grieving for the loss of brave men who perished alongside the prince.

The Tyrells, although still loyal, were quick to bend their knees after their disastrous campaign. Lord Eddard Stark had already led a large army of soldiers to lift the siege and continue the search for his sister Lyanna Stark.

The Martells were another matter. The sister of Grand Prince Doran Martell remained in King's Landing along with her two young sons, the prince's heirs. Without news of her sister, it is hoped that Dorne will not turn against the Targaryens, and we will see if it resists the rebels.

Finally, the Lannisters. A large army of unknown numbers has been seen approaching the kingdom's capital, although their motive is unknown. It is unknown whether the Grand Duke of the West plans to take it or, on the contrary, will lead the final charge from the capital to annihilate the rebel forces.

MC POV

Targaryen.

The great dynasty of dragon lords fell. With the prince dead and his entire loyal army gone, it was only a matter of time. All at the hands of the true protagonist of this story, Robert I Baratheon. The great demon of the trident and leader of the rebellion was already on his way to the kingdom's capital.

Eddard Stark was already a few days away from reaching Storm's End. With that, the Tyrells had already begun to slowly retreat. The great Mace Tyrell, who after a prolonged siege had gained nothing and had completely neglected the main front, I doubt he'd have the courage to say anything once Lord Stark was here.

And speaking of the Starks, their future great lord will soon depart in search of his sister. I often thought about intervening in the rebellion, but realistically, there was little I could do. I could intervene through Stannis or some adult, but no child could inspire loyalty, and I didn't trust my withdrawn brother.

I could end up inspiring fear instead of loyalty. The risk is too high, and the risk wasn't worth it. After all, what could I gain? The best possible outcomes had already occurred. Robert would soon be crowned king and form an alliance with the Lannisters. He would have bastard children, and I could claim the throne for myself.

Stannis? soon very far from here on dragon rock and me named as the next lord of storm's end once I come of age and Robert is no longer a problem, there was much to lose and little to gain, I didn't have the ability and I certainly wasn't going to try.

I had enough time to prepare for Stannis's religious madman, Robert's death, and everything else. Now it's time to grow and learn as much as possible until the Stormlands are under my command.

*Clink*

Soon, a knight entered my chamber. His plate armor with worn chainmail reflected the precarious situation the territory was in. The lack of even gauntlets made the reliability of these knights a problem to be solved.

"My lord Stannis requests your presence in the great hall." {Serious}" (Guard 1)

"Let's go." {Calm}" As I followed my brother's knight, another problem arose in my mind. I wasn't a great general who knew how to control and train troops. I had no idea where to start, especially knowing that a large portion of the Stormlands were loyal to my two brothers.

*Clang*

The door to the great hall opened, and I immediately saw my older brother sitting with the smuggler and a couple of children.

"What's wrong, brother?" {confused}. Stannis looked up from what appeared to be several documents, the contents of which he was unfamiliar with. I slowly approached the table until my brother's voice brought me out of my reverie.

"Sit down, Renly. There's been some news that needs to be discussed." {serious}. (Stannis)

As I sat down not far from the smuggler and his children, I couldn't help but think about how little time I'd had with Stannis and how strange he seemed to me. Every time I had a conversation with him, I felt uncomfortable.

He treated me like I was just another adult, and even though it wasn't a problem for me, it made me think that maybe my brother was testing me, seeing the extent of my already known intelligence, or maybe he was simply a fool who didn't know how to deal with people. In truth, I believe and hope it's the latter.

I respected Stannis, knowing how competent and incompetent he could be. His closeness to the smuggler was already worrying. He ate with them and invited them to the family's great hall. He trusted them, and that translated into freedom. The fact that he could display documents in such a public place, with them around, already spoke volumes about my brother. I definitely wasn't going to trust him with my life.

"Robert is the new king, right?" {excited}. I watched his face move when I said it. Stannis was a stoic man. Very few things could make him lose his patience, but Robert was one of those few things. He could go from a calm and serious Stannis to an irritated and annoyed Stannis just by mentioning Robert.

-{mumbles}- Robert will not be returning to Storm's End. *Snort* He is now on his way to King's Landing.-{irritated}-(Stannis)

-Then...-

-Right now we are awaiting the arrival of Lord Eddard Stark. In a couple of days he will be at Storm's End and with that the siege will finally end and negotiations will begin.-{seriously}-(Stannis)

"HA, I was finally fed up with having to eat the same thing every day," I noticed the smuggler and my brother's expressions change. Boy, could the petty arrogance of a minor lord make them so upset? I can't imagine how they could coexist with the other lords, living proof of the rigidity of Stannis and those around him.

"Hmm, you'll have to behave. Jon Arryn almost certainly already has plans for you and me as brothers to the future king, so I expect you to behave appropriately." {serious} (Stannis)

"Calm down, brother. I would never let Robert down or stain his honor." {mockingly}

STANNIS'S POV

I looked at my small, annoying younger brother. He was completely different from Robert. I remembered Robert, tall and burly, rebellious and an idiot who understood nothing but conflict. I never spent much time with him, but I had spent a lot of time with Renly, even going so far as to educate him for short periods of time. He was thin and completely determined to learn more, rarely showing any interest in big battles.

I had noticed Renly's intelligence. The maesters reported how he absorbed knowledge like an adult, mature for his age but still innocent, the perfect child, my one true brother, but I doubt he sees me the same way.

My older brother, now the monarch of the seven kingdoms, the brother I never lived with or got along with will now be the new king, and my little brother adored him. We'll see how the king will react when he sees how his brother managed to defend our home and our brother.
