Chapter 6 - Setting the Foundation - Part 2

*Alex Breckton POV*

*Location: Underground Lab, Alaska*

*Date: January 15th, 1993*

It's been a few weeks since I last went outside, well beyond gathering random bits of materials I needed for the first prototype knigtmare frame. Now, why the knightmares first from Code Geass? Well, the other shit would require lots of hands and a large amount of space.

That and perhaps gathering a large amount of material, building the laboratories from the Academy City would take quite a while to get up and running. That and finding good test subjects to undergo such experiments as well. That and getting the EVAs up and running would require a bit of genetic tinkering alongside mechanical tinkering as well.

Well, that and material, so I thought about it, and well, wouldn't the PRT or other government-sponsored Parahuman organizations love a walking police unit that could perhaps capture Parahumans? Even if it didn't do all that much against the new Endbringers (thank you CYOA for that), it could be useful against some of the stronger Parahumans, or just help deal with criminal organizations in general.

Oh, another little thing were my clones were now up and running, there was a slight...problem with them. Not mentally, as they followed orders relatively well and did basic tasks with amazing precision.

Beyond the fact that they didn't gain any of my memories, it turns out I had to... tweak around a little bit when it came to cloning them. You see, these were the second batch, the first ones kind...exploded, oh, I could feel my eye twitching remembering that day. All that work went to waste in an instant, as I got the parts to finish my first Knightmare and to produce more Sakuraite.

I worked on getting rid of the angel DNA in me and replacing it with, well, human DNA, which was not as complicated as you might think. That was probably thanks to the CYOA giving me knowledge from a vast array of universes that have done such things before.

This batch was successful in that regard, well beyond the fact that they didn't have my white hair and instead had black, with tanner skin; it was a success. They were good enough to perform basic tasks and listen to orders; well, their bodies were in good shape anyway, beyond the vocal cords being a tiny bit damaged.

Although I guess mentally they were more like robots than actual thinking, breathing humans, beings who were designed to follow orders and nothing more. Now that I thought about it, they were perfect test subjects for the Esper trials soon to come. Sure, they might not be the most perfect candidates, but better than kidnapping people or offering to pay them money I barely had.

I could also sell the artificial sakuradite as well, offer it as an alternative energy resource now that...Gaia was around. Ugh, I was still not used to saying that. Beyond the fact that Endbringers were real, they were replaced as well. Meaning the timeline has completly changed, and The Simurgh, a being who set up a lot of the series plot points, I believe, like the Travelers, and helping in the final battle was gone.

No matter, though, as long as the first steps of this new enterprise of mine were completed, that would be all that matters. Then, once this place was a bit more... automated to say the least, I could focus on mastering the martial arts of Bang and Bomb. Sure, I had a good foundation thanks to my transportation to this world, but I wasn't a master of it.

Stickman mastery should help with that, but it's probably still not a good idea to rely too much on these given abilties. Sure, they were mine now, but right now, I was essentially a hatchling, a strong one but still a baby nonetheless. I needed to properly create a foundation suited to me and my future goals, alongside the survival of this world beyond Scion's death.

More entities would probably come after this world, after the death cries of the Warrior Entity reach them. In all honesty, I was surprised they never knew of the Thinker Entity's death; maybe the fact that the Warrior was still alive was helping that fact.

Didn't matter though, and as I welded the last piece of the Knigtmare frame, I sighed and took a couple of steps back, getting a good look at the finished product. I went with the classic purple frame used by the Britannians in Code Geass, a nice classic used by an evil empire. I could probably reinvent the product itself and spin it as a military or police unit for whoever bought it.

If even one government or private company decided to do business, hopefully without them assuming it was Tinkertech. I knew how to make it, maintain it, and it didn't break the very laws of physics to work, beyond me making an entirely new element now that I thought about it.

Well, I didn't know for sure if it was a new element or not because it heavily resembled a Rose Quartz, but it didn't function like one. So perhaps it was possible that I had simply unlocked a new function of Roze Quartz unseen in this new reality of mine. Perhaps testing further down the line, when I have a bit more free time, see if this was truly a new element or simply one remade into a type of renewable fuel.

Didn't matter anyway. I was currently creating a new batch of clones, while the old ones were...useful. The problem was that they acted too much like robots sometimes. I was pretty sure that I was starting to become emotionally numb to death, seeing as how we had a couple of accidents resulting in crushed people. I shivered just thinking about the mess, not the death or loss of life, even if they were essentially my personal... let's call them unpaid interns, sounds much better than other words.

While this was going on, I had a small television up in my lab, always on the national news channel, checking for major incidents or if any new companies formed in my time down here. Alongside my fellow possible isekaiers, of which there was some change whilst I was building the first generation of Knightmates and perfecting the cloning process.

Achilles was the most vocal, setting up his own Superhero Team, cementing himself as part of the three others who followed him to this new reality. The Avengers, which would not be part of the future PRT, from what I could tell, and he is instead planning to be a subsection of the United Nations, which will respond to threats like Gaia or Parahumans abusing their powers and trying to overthrow their local government.

One-Eye, however, further demonstrated his power and has me leaning toward the fact that he was one of us as well. Using powerful and odd-looking symbols that I could only assume to be runes to destroy large swaths of the forest created by Gaia. I suspected that instead of gaining the magical capabilities of the Raildex universe, he instead went for 'Old Magic.' Aka the primordial magic used in the age of the gods; however, I still suspect that he still had access to the other branch of magic, using the connection the primordial runes have to fuel.

Maybe even becoming a true god or at least this reality's closest equivalent via the Spiritual and Divine powers section of the CYOA if we used the same one. AS for our last potential recruit, Crimson, well, he was keeping himself busy fighting the variosu gangs in Brockton Bay, or at least that's what I've seen when I finally figured out the coordinates to that particular location. After all, fighting local gangers doesn't make local news, so I had to do a bit of...window shopping, shall we say, to get the information I wanted.

For the clones, though, they still didn't know where they were located, but odds were they were weak at the start and just needed time to get started.

"Sir, I am sorry to interrupt you while you are creating the next generation of my brethren, but the first three basic Knightmares have been completed and are ready for testing." A light, feminine voice said in the doorway, and I turned around to see one of my more grown humans.

I named her particular batch, Series Alpha-One, with this next batch being Alpha-Two, and hopefully the last with only others in the future being perhaps minor tweaking for different purposes. She had my white hair and lightish skin, but lacked the angelic DNA to truly make her a copy of me, and had increased intelligence to help point out any potential flaws in my designs, see things that I may have missed.

Well, I made sure she was obedient as well, adjusting teh aggression levels in the clones, allowing them to hopefully see things more logically rather than through both emotions and logic. However, there somethings I have changed within this current generation, well, I suppose generation may not be the proper word, but it's the closest I could think of. I named her Nova, my first truly successful clone, with the future generations being modeled after her, with perhaps some minor improvements.

"Are they outside and ready for testing?" I asked as I slowly got up, making sure all teh important bits I was working on wouldn't be erased and I'd have to start all over. "Also, are the testing pilots ready as well? Alongside the video cameras I had purchased in our most recent trip, I'd prefer to have proof alongside physical examples of our Knightmares."

We then began to walk and talk, passing by a few builders and security guards I had created, who, without me, could not get the Knightmares up and running so fast. It has probably taken the weeks I've been here to properly establish and prepare for testing.

"They are both ready and simply waiting for your approval, alongside the armaments, at least the martial ones; the guns are taking far longer than anticipated to properly construct." She responded as we navigated the laboratory, eventually entering the elevator and heading towards our makeshift testing area, which was essentially just a large batch of barren land in the forest.

Exiting my base, the forest wind flew some fresh snow onto my face, as light gray clouds covered the sky above. A simple annoyance, and yet the weather suited today, for it was the perfect bland day for testing the next generation of military-grade equipment, or at least the idea of military-grade.

Yet ahead of me lay the fruits of our labor, the first generation of knightmares which heavily resembled teh common ones used by the Britanians at the beginning of the show, with the purple color scheme swapped out for camo. Alongside the American Flag stapled onto the front of it, across the right side of its chest, I figured I'd try to get in my potential contractors' good graces with this paint job.

That didn't mean it couldn't be changed, of course, but it still never hurt to go big and try to impress them. For right now, they were holding basic spears, nothing too fancy, but just easy weapons whose basics are easy to grasp. The advanced stuff was way too hard for right now, and this was merely meant to show off their range of mobility.

"Please start the testing, tell them to just show off the basic movement range for right now, maybe each hit a different tree, show the mobility, and see if any issues pop up." I watched her nod her head and speak into the radio as I thought of something else we woudl need to test after this as well. "Also, after we're done, test the emergency ejection to see if any of them jam for some reason and what went wrong."

Nodding, she spoke into the radio, informing the testing pilots of my instructions, and began moving, holding their spears with both hands and moving in unison. They struck each tree with powerful blows, yet holding back to simply show if anything was wrong with the suits, testing the strength and durability could come later. I knew they were extremmly tough, but it would be nice to know how tough so that the military or any other potential investors would find the money worth it.

Opening up a whole new future line of mechs and eventually the EVA mechs as well, with potentially fusions between the two. Taking the best of both worlds and fusing them to create far deadlier mechs. Whilst also giving me the funds to eventually create my esper program, to drug and shift the human mind, creating a new personal reality alongside a new kind of angel.

Although I did wonder if it would work on me, my own biology would factor a lot into it and perhaps change how any new ability would function. Then there was teh Level 6 possibility, I didn't know if I could achieve but what would that look like? I had the DNA of an "Angel" but lacked the mentality of one and still somewhat resembled my old, more human mind.

Either way, the test went well, the mobility could be tweaked a little, but that's for the final product, and these would put on a good show. "Are they ready for the Emergency Ejection test?" I whispered to Nova, who nodded, informing the test pilots to begin the last test for today.

Each one lined up facing us, as I assumed the pilots began to count down to ejections, before bam, one after another, they launched themselves into the air. I watched them soar, with only two of their parachutes deploying, and the third one landing with a sudden thud.

"Well, they can't all be winners. Send someone out to search the wreckage, see if the pilot survived, and figure out what went wrong with the parachute deployment."

"Yes, sir, shall I begin testing the durability, strength, and speed of the knightmares of the first two successful ones, whilst the third is being fixed?" Nova asked with the same emotionless tone all of my clones had.

"Yes, that will be fine. Inform me when it's completed. You can start the test without me, just show me the results and tell me what could be fixed afterward." I said to her as I went toward the elevator, going down, wanting to get this next batch of clones done and see if anything went wrong with them.
