Next morning Varrrek woke the group up earlier, so they can pack up. This made Syrra annoyed, but to Darron, made no difference. He hasn't slept at all. After they ate breakfast and got their most nessesary things, they began to wander forward. The track wasn't exactly easy aswell, having to go through the mountains and cult occupied lands. Including the fact that Varrek had to carry Syrra a few times, because she was "tired". Darron couldn't since she was taller than him. After seven hours of walking, they reached a town, pretty big one. But just as Vakker was about to cross the gates, an arrow nearly missed his head. He looks up to see a female archer, a young one, probably around seventeen.
-What are your names?!- The archer yelled out.
-My name's Syrra, this is Darron and tha- Before she could finish, Varrek now under control of Azryth the unholy cut her off.
-I am Varrek, the host of eight demons and the killer of Jorvin the wizard.- The boy seems to say it naturally, of course it's not the boy.
Syrra, horrified realises she was right about the boy being a host to demons. She sensed them. Darron on the other hand was pale, shocked and on the verge of tears.
-What..I didn't say that!- Varrek yells out.
-Stop lying, i sensed it as soon as I came across you!- Syrra screams, tears running across her face
The archer, out of fears shoots at the boy. Syrra screams and lunges her self at him, but she's too far. Darron's reaction time isn't fast enough to notice. But Malvoryx's is. He takes control of the boy and grabbs the arrow just before it hit him in the forehead.
-You're not bad at aiming.. He was telling the through, one of the demons took control and said that, just like I did now.- The demon said to the archer, who was covering her face, sure she just killed someone, through Varrek, letting go of the boy shortly after, causing him to collapse unconcious.
-Eight....eight...god save us all.. How is that even possible..?- Darron mutters under his nose, shaking. Above them, the archer swallowed hard, staring down at the group. Her fear hadn't vanished, but neither had the nagging thought in her mind: If he's still alive after that, what else can he survive? Varrek later woke up in a pretty comfortable bed, with Syrra sitting next to it as always. She seems to have grrown close to him.. He pats her cheek, waking her up.
- Where are we?- He asks.
The girl rubs her eyes, yawns and answers:
- The archer's house. Darron's out praying for our souls like an idiot...- She says, leaning back in the chair and stretching.-So eight? Man, you gotta be really charming for eight demons to get attracted to you.- She adds and gives him a playfull shove.
- Well that ability of yours..the sensing one. It's really strong. One of the demons told me you sensed one that even the devil him self cant sense.- He said, his voice threading with respect.
-Really?- She asks, suprised at her own abilities.
-Yeah, really. The one that said that doesn't lie to me.
-Shocking. A demon that doesn't lie, he must really respect you...-She says quietly before adding- Wanna go for a walk, it'll be good to clear your mind.
-Sure.-He answered, getting up.
The walk lasted quite alot, since they came back in the morning, when everyone was awake.
-The hell were you two doing outside so long?-Darron asked, annoyed.
-Nothing.-Syrra answers, a wide smile plastered across her face.
Varrek then heard a whisper, "roof of the next door neighbours". He quickly looked back and saw the archer girl. This clearly shocked her since he had seemed to notice out of nowhere.
-Got you..-He mumbled to him self.
Syrra looked at the boy, curious. He's getting different everyday and she doesn't seem to have a problem with it. He get's more confident which leads to them talking more, which she personally enjoys quite alot. After the archer came down the roof and entered the house, she spoke up:
-I uh... I'm sorry for shooting at you.. It's just..-She pauses- my brother got killed by a demon... Seeing them protect you made me think that you could lock some away in your body..And uh..I'd wish to help with that!-She says the last part more confidently as she doesn't notice any doubt in any of the group members.-Oh, and my name's Valerie.-She adds quietly.
-Well, you already know our names, you're welcome to tag along.- Syrra said, filled with excitement for a female companion.
Later at lunch, the group was eating together, everyone knowing Valerie pretty well already. They were planning to continue moving through the island after they eat. Then Valerie asked a question:
-So are Varrek and Syrra in a relationship or what? Walks lasting six hours aren't seen as normal in the middle of the night.
This question causes Syrra to choke on her soup, spitting it back into the bowl. Varrek wasn't paying attention, playing with the archer's family dog instead.
-N-No!..I don't want to get possesed or anything...- She mutters, avoiding the topic.
-Alright, I'm just asking jeez- She mutters, not satisfied with the answer.
After lunch, the group left the house and began their journey again, this time with Valerie.
The archer girl turned to Varrek, curiously and asked:
-The demon said you killed someone. How?
-Punched his head off.- He answered, quietly. The topic obviously still weighing on him.
Valerie looked at him, terrified. Is this who she'll be spending her time with? A host to eight demons, who punched someone's head off? At some point of the journey the group stops before the unholy forest of Skarhold. This is where most of the good, lively fauna focuse. Unfortunately it wasn't exactly known to be an easy path.
