The howling wind and torrential rain, the flashing lightning and booming thunder – these were the constant themes of the storm. The Snow Bear slowly sailed through the waves, rising and falling with each swell, as if it might capsize at any moment.
But under the protection of Maco and Henk's magical energy, the Snow Bear remained steady. Maco didn't know the purpose of this mysterious force, and he dared not act rashly. He could only wait for the enemy's next move, so he didn't order Henk to use his magic to drive the Snow Bear out of the storm.
As time passed, the surging waves carried the Snow Bear into a sea filled with mist. The violent waves gradually calmed down, as if they had never been there.
Then, a fleet of dilapidated ships, exuding a chilling aura, burst from beneath the surface of the sea. Many of the vessels seemed to be severely damaged, and some broken decks still held the remains of sea creatures that hadn't escaped in time.
These ships absorbed the dense fog, and the bright moonlight shone down, giving them a sinister and terrifying aura, like beasts waiting to devour anyone who approached.
These broken ships, resembling ghost ships, were as if controlled by an invisible hand. They slowly surrounded the Snow Bear from all directions.
Mayf was about to summon her Sword of Judgement, but Maco signaled her to stop. He sensed a strange energy slowly gathering.
At that moment, Moonshadow seemed to be summoned by some power and suddenly began to sing a song. The sorrow and helplessness of the melody caused everyone around to feel a touch of sadness. The unique melody of the Ancient Tongue, which pierced the soul, made people unconsciously sink into it.
With the gathering of energy, a strange vortex appeared on the sea. A mermaid with a deep blue fishtail and beautiful blood-red hair suddenly appeared before everyone's eyes. The surrounding seawater seemed to be her playmates, swirling around her.
Her skin was a deep blue, and she occasionally emitted a cold aura. Her blood-red eyes showed no emotional fluctuations, making her beautiful face appear somewhat ferocious.
"Who brought the power of the Lord of the Storm here? Hmm! It's actually a Singer..."
A distant and profound voice emerged from the mermaid's mouth. The beautiful Ancient Tongue sounded as harsh as archaic speech, each word laced with a trace of resentment and hatred.
"Whose will are you? Why did you respond to my singing?"
Moonshadow asked the mermaid. She also seemed to sense that the mermaid was controlled by a powerful will, and that entity had bestowed upon her even greater power.
Moonshadow subconsciously regarded her as a deity. However, as her chilling power overflowed, Maco and the others knew this creature had become a puppet of an alien god.
After hearing Moonshadow's question, the mermaid's blood-red eyes turned to her and said, word by word:
"Singer! Surrender to me, the Lord of the Waves, and become a servant of the Lord of the Stars. You will possess power that surpasses even the gods. Otherwise, die!"
As the words fell, figures like wisps of mist appeared on the surrounding ships. Their faces were contorted, their forms bizarre, resembling the deep-sea ghosts from sailors' tales.
Facing these strange entities, Maco immediately ordered Henk and the crew to be on guard. He himself used the "Blessing Ritual." Henk followed suit, drawing his longsword and performing the "Blessing Ritual" as well.
Two angel phantoms, one large and one small, appeared on the Snow Bear's deck. The divine light they emitted instantly dispelled the deathly aura that permeated the area. This light also banished the fear and oppression from the crew's hearts, causing some of the weaker ghosts to vanish completely.
Once these ghosts had gathered around the Snow Bear, Maco directly unleashed the "Holy Word of Light." Powerful and scorching light energy gathered above the Snow Bear, making the surrounding ghosts feel an inexplicable fear. They instinctively wanted to flee, but were unable to move due to the pressure exerted by their master.
A hint of surprise flickered in the mermaid's blood-red eyes, but as the light energy gathered, her expression changed dramatically. She immediately jumped into the sea and desperately swam towards the bottom.
"BOOM!"
The violent explosion annihilated all the ghosts that had gathered. The dilapidated ships that had been closing in seemed to lose their power and sank to the bottom of the sea.
Maco nodded in satisfaction, looking at the now-cleared sea. Just as he was about to order the ship to leave, the sea began to churn again, and strange sounds echoed from the depths.
This was a bizarre situation, especially since there were no dark clouds or strong winds. Suddenly, a pair of blood-red eyes, each the size of a basketball, appeared beneath the waves.
Following that, tentacles began to crawl up the sides of the ship. The barbs on the giant suction cups scraped across the hull, leaving behind scratches, and the screeching sound was incredibly unpleasant. It seemed the enemy had found a terrifying ally.
Seeing this, Mayf erupted in golden light, transforming into her Archangel form. The massive Sword of Judgement ignited with a ghostly blue holy flame. Then, with a powerful beat of her wings, she shot towards the Sea Monster like a cannonball.
"Awooo!"
Dark red blood mixed with the monster's agonizing howl, causing the entire sea to tremble. The highest tentacle was severed by Mayf's sword, and the two-meter-long section fell onto the deck, writhing wildly.
The monster retracted its tentacles slowly, as if preparing a terrifying attack. Mayf, on the other hand, charged towards its massive head, swinging her sword.
Seeing this, Maco immediately ordered Henk to turn the ship around to avoid being attacked by the giant monster. However, the enemy didn't seem to want them to leave, and at that moment, another strange sound came from the ship's hull.
Then, to the surprise of the crew, strange-looking Octopus Monsters appeared on the deck. They crawled around with their tentacles, each about half a meter tall, with eerie red light in their eyes.
"Ready your spears. Aim for their heads, and don't let them grab you!"
Henk drew his longsword and ordered the surrounding crew.
Maco immediately used "Summon Element". After a fierce gust of wind, a Wind Element over three meters tall appeared on the battlefield. The powerful wind pressure instantly blew away the nearest Octopus Monster.
Just as Maco was about to use "Lightning Bolt", a terrifying killing intent suddenly locked onto him. Without time to think, Maco instantly materialized his "Flame Dragon's Tongue" in his hand. As the flame-covered longsword appeared, Maco felt a great force coming from it.
Clang!
A sound of metal clashing rang out. Maco retreated several steps before stopping. Looking closely, he saw that a crystal-like trident was embedded in the "Flame Dragon's Tongue". At the point of impact, it was emitting wisps of heat, like boiling water.
Then, the trident turned into a ball of water and quickly rolled towards the side of the ship. The water ball quickly climbed onto its master's body, transforming back into a trident.
Surrounded by seawater, the mermaid was completely unfazed by the battle against the sea monster outside. She seemed to ignore the monster's pained howls and instead fixed her gaze on Maco, her voice icy.
"You dare to deceive me with that strange magic, human! You will pay for this! However! If you hand over the power of the Storm God, I will grant you eternal life. Submit to me, you insignificant creature! I am, after all, very merciful!"
Maco chuckled at this, then replied, "Your power is almost depleted! And you still think you can grant me eternal life? Besides, you've betrayed the covenant of the Old Gods and thrown yourself into the embrace of the alien gods. What right do you have to demand worship and loyalty from anyone?"
Maco had barely finished speaking when the Lord of the Waves launched an enraged attack. Her strange, crystal-like trident, which appeared to be made of some special material, carried a chilling power with each strike, causing Maco to feel a bone-chilling pain as he parried.
This encroaching power made Maco feel extremely uncomfortable, as if he were standing in a freezing wind while holding ice. Seizing his opportunity, Maco endured the stinging pain and flung a magic-infused obsidian stone towards the mermaid. A massive bolt of lightning appeared out of thin air, crashing down upon the mermaid, who was possessed by the Lord of the Waves.
The seawater surrounding the mermaid then formed a tentacle made of water, lashing out to intercept the "Lightning Bolt". However, she clearly underestimated the power of the magic. The lightning pierced through the water's protection and struck the mermaid directly.
The mermaid shuddered from the electric shock, and her attack faltered. Seeing the effectiveness of the magical attack, Maco immediately pulled out several more obsidian stones from his pocket and hurled them at the mermaid. At the same time, he opened his spellbook and activated "Weakness Curse" and "Rotting Curse". The mermaid, in response, wielded her trident with such speed that she shattered three of the obsidian stones.
The other two were successfully summoned; massive lightning energy crackled from the void, striking the mermaid. The seawater protecting the mermaid instantly transformed into a bloody mist, blocking the lightning's assault. Neither of the two dark curses took effect, and the "Lightning Bolt" also failed to harm the mermaid as it had before.
Maco had no choice but to keep swinging Flame Dragon's Tongue, battling the possessed, strange mermaid. Neither could gain an advantage.
Meanwhile, Mayf used her agile form to leave wound after wound on the Sea Monster, the entire sea area seeming to be dyed red by the blood flowing from the Sea Monster's body.
This kind of monster, with its huge body, seemed very powerful at first glance, but its massive size weakened its speed considerably. Mayf took advantage of this to repeatedly slash at it.
However, just as Mayf flew in front of the Sea Monster, preparing to strike its large eyes, the Sea Monster suddenly spewed out a cloud of black mist.
Caught off guard, Mayf was hit by the black mist. Then, the Sea Monster's two largest tentacles slammed towards Mayf, who was in a daze. Mayf, relying on her combat experience, instinctively dodged, although she avoided the terrible blow.
However, her body was still knocked off course by the terrifying wind pressure from the tentacles, almost causing Mayf to plunge into the sea. Fortunately, she stabilized her form in time and didn't fall into the sea due to the wind.
The black mist spewed out by the Sea Monster seemed to have a magical power that could confuse the senses. For a time, Mayf could only defend passively, and its tentacles could strike Mayf from various tricky angles, Mayf tried to flap her wings to disperse the black mist multiple times, but to no avail.
Seeing that the battle between the two sides had entered a stalemate, Maco was a little anxious. Looking at the energy water screen on the mermaid's body that could withstand Lightning Bolt at any time, he was also a little annoyed.
Just then, Maco seemed to have thought of something. He focused his consciousness, opened his spellbook, and cast "Magic Purification" on the mermaid. The 80% success rate of the intermediate light magic immediately triggered, and the water on the mermaid's body instantly scattered all over the ground, noticeably decreasing in volume.
Seeing that this spell was finally effective, Maco continued his efforts, casting "Magic Purification" two more times. This time, all the water on the mermaid's body vanished completely. Seeing the situation was dire, she struggled, trying to leap into the sea and escape.
However, Maco wouldn't let her succeed. He immediately cast "Weakness Curse" and "Rotting Curse" on her, further weakening her combat ability. Then, Maco swung his longsword, knocking her weapon away.
After that, Maco's "Flame Dragon's Tongue" pointed at her throat. The scorching aura made her damp skin emit wisps of steam, as if it was about to be dried out.
"Surrender! Even a god, you..."
Before Maco could finish speaking, he saw a blood-red light burst from the mermaid's body. A blurry figure composed of chilling energy roared and charged towards Maco, seemingly wanting to possess his body.
However, this blurry figure slammed hard into Maco's body and couldn't advance a single step. Realizing it was unsuccessful, it immediately changed its target and charged towards Henk behind Maco. But suddenly, six "Lightning Bolts" appeared in the void, all striking the blurry figure fiercely.
"You lot of trash! Always the same trick. Did you think I had no way to deal with it? Ah! Do you know what 'Magic Immunity' is?"
Maco's voice suddenly cut through, a hint of smugness in his tone.
"Ah..."
"I curse you! You lowly ant, you have desecrated the majesty of the gods, I will..."
The blurry figure emitted a series of venomous curses, the energy within her body turning increasingly black. Finally, she transformed into a mass resembling ink, releasing a chilling killing intent that caused Maco to feel a tremor deep within his soul.
