Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: [Extra]The Weight of a Name

A profound, chilling silence fell over the dimension. Even the Uchiha, a clan known for their unyielding pride, were rendered speechless. For as long as any of them could remember, they had carried themselves with an air of arrogance. Whether they were an ordinary clansman or a prodigy who had awakened the Sharingan, they believed themselves to be superior. This unshakable confidence was rooted in the power of their eyes, the terrifying and unique Kekkei Genkai that made the Uchiha name famous throughout the Shinobi World.

Even though Tsukihiko was a legendary figure feared by entire nations, that reputation alone wasn't enough to truly intimidate them. After all, they were the Uchiha. But now, that pride had been shattered. They had just witnessed Itachi, a genius who had awakened the pinnacle of their bloodline, the Mangekyo Sharingan, be defeated in an instant. Tsukihiko hadn't even moved from his throne. He had effortlessly countered Itachi's ultimate technique and somehow plundered the power of the Sharingan for himself.

It was terrifying.

The Sharingan was so powerful because, aside from its incredible ocular jutsu, it was believed that only an Uchiha could truly master it. Over the years, many enemies had transplanted the eyes of fallen Uchiha, but none had ever managed to wield their power effectively. The only known exception was Konoha's Kakashi Hatake, and even he paid a heavy price for its use. But the rule that the Uchiha held as law had just been broken. Tsukihiko could not only wield the Sharingan perfectly, but he could also activate its Mangekyo form with no apparent strain. Seeing this chilling power firsthand, the Uchiha finally understood the true weight of the name Tsukihiko.

He was strong. Impossibly strong.

In the fearful silence, they recalled the old legends from before the Five Great Nations sealed away all knowledge of him. The stories gave Tsukihiko three terrifying and awe-inspiring titles.

Ageless. Immortal. Undefeated.

Ageless, because in all the decades he was known to the world, his appearance never changed. He remained eternally young.

Immortal, because he possessed a near-invincible body and held the eerie power to bring the dead back to life.

Undefeated, because of the legendary battle where the greatest shinobi of the era—the Senju brothers and the Uchiha brothers—had joined forces to kill him. The stories said that even with Senju Hashirama's Wood Release and Uchiha Madara's Mangekyo Sharingan, they and their powerful brothers, Tobirama and Izuna, could only barely hold him back. The battle ended when Tsukihiko unleashed his Spatial Blood Demon Art: Infinite Dominion, defeating them all. The legends claimed that if Tsukihiko had been in a killing mood that day, Konoha would have never been founded.

And now, after all these years, it was clear his power had not diminished in the slightest.

On the ground, Itachi coughed up blood, struggling to push himself up. His body ached, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the shock and fear that gripped his heart. The moment he had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, his entire perspective on the world had changed. He believed he now possessed the power to change nations, to do whatever was necessary for his vision of peace. It was why he'd had the confidence to stand up to his father and why he'd dared to attack a living god.

He had never imagined… he had never understood that the reason Tsukihiko was a legend was because his power was absolute. His dominance was not to be challenged. The Mangekyo Sharingan, a power feared by all, was nothing to him.

"How… how is this possible?" one of the Uchiha elders finally whispered.

"My god… what did we just see?" another stammered.

It was only now that Fugaku and the others could find their voices. The entire fight, from Itachi's attack to his crushing defeat, had happened in the blink of an eye. A destructive, overwhelming force had been snuffed out as easily as a candle flame. If they hadn't seen it themselves, they would never have believed that a Mangekyo Sharingan user could be treated like less than an ant.

"What? Are you still living in a dream?" Tsukihiko's calm voice drifted down from the throne. "The Mangekyo Sharingan is indeed a powerful and dominant Kekkei Genkai. But its strength depends on who is using it. When it's in the hands of an unfilial, half-matured boy like you, Itachi…" His voice took on a playful, mocking tone. "Well, you've already seen how that turned out."

The words were simple. They weren't loud or filled with rage, but they were more insulting than any shout. He had not only dismissed the ultimate power of the Uchiha but had also branded Itachi a traitorous child in front of his entire clan.

The insult struck a chord deep within Fugaku. He had been about to plead for his son's life, but Tsukihiko's words made him pause. He was right. The moment Itachi attacked, he had stopped being an Uchiha. He had betrayed them all.

Was it really worth angering this unfathomable being—the one person who could save his clan—for the sake of a traitor?
