Leilani
My first thought was to ask her how she came to know that. I wanted to know why Malakai of all people would want to do that to his dearest Chalice, the girl who was the same reason he had taken his life in the first place; But before I could even think of asking, I felt someone loop their arm in mine.
I blinked, cleared my throat and whispered; "Gavin?"
He nodded softly. "Lani."
"Where are you taking me?"
"We need to see Father's lawyer briefly before our mother is returned to her cell." He answered quietly, his voice so soft, it literally brushed against my skin like a caress.
And with that, he continued to drag me the rest of the way until we arrived at a small shed, covered only with large palm fronds to block out the sunlight. The chairs were creaky wooden objects that protested whenever anyone sat down on them. But I didn't.
I couldn't.
My heart was racing in my chest. It was pounding so hard, I feared it would make me develop some kind of chest ache.
