Chapter 98 - Ch. 35: Christmas Eve

Thursday night, December twenty-fourth, arrives in Guarly.

A brown-haired girl slips into her bedroom through the window, while her clone is already inside. They exchange a glance and immediately change clothes. The real girl fixes her hair as her copy exits through the window, moving a few meters away before collapsing into a lump of clay. Two spheres of energy burst free and streak back to the original, crashing into her body and reintegrating with her inner Fiu. A powerful headache strikes her, making her lose balance and fall onto her backside.

She realizes that her sister and father are in the living room watching a Christmas movie. To her surprise, Camila enters without knocking.

"Are you okay, Emi? I heard a noise."

Emily laughs softly as she gets up, smiling at her sister while the headache slowly fades. Together they return to the living room, where Roberto comes out of the kitchen carrying a plate of cake and mugs of hot chocolate. The two girls exchange smiles and help their father set the treats on the table in front of the TV. The three of them sit on the couch, covering themselves with blankets—miraculously, it's very cold outside.

They laugh at the scenes of a father desperately trying to make the perfect Christmas for his family, failing at decorations, struggling to help his kids and relatives get the night off, and finally, after a disastrous dinner and a tender moment, having everything fall apart when he's told his wife won't make it home because the roads are blocked by snow. The children on screen grow sad.

The Forcer sisters cry during those scenes, unable to believe that despite all the protagonist's effort, he still couldn't fulfill everyone's wish. Roberto smiles at their earlier reactions, but now his expression grows serious. He thinks about how hard he works to support his family, home, and business, to give his daughters a good education and make sure they lack nothing—and yet, he still feels he's failing. He isn't a mother; he doesn't always understand their problems with friends. He knows how to brush their hair, but only in the simplest way—that's why his angels usually wear it loose. Putting himself in the protagonist's shoes, Roberto lets a couple of tears fall.

The movie reaches its ending: the family decides to carry their Christmas dinner to the airport to reunite with the mother, crossing snow-covered roads thanks to a lonely old man with a snowplow. Love, understanding, and mutual support prevail. The credits roll.

Emily stands up to stretch and notices her father smiling as he wipes his eyes. She whispers to her younger sister, "Do you think we should give him his gift now?"

Camila smiles and nods.

They head to Emily's room, where she hands Camila four golden tickets. The two return to the living room, finding their father already looking for the next movie.

"What's going on?" Roberto asks, confused.

They show him the tickets. His eyes widen. "How did you get tickets for the New Hill rally at the end of the year?"

"Internet," they reply in unison.

Camila hands him the tickets and adds, "Since you went to the hospital after what happened at the Liz Tower, we realized you spend too much time on us. You never go out with friends, look for a partner, or do what you want."

Roberto stares at the tickets. "Girls, this is too much… and who will take care of you?"

"We'll go with you," Emily says, smiling.

"Then who's the extra ticket for?"

"For you to invite someone on a date!" both girls answer cheerfully.

Roberto turns completely red, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. His daughters know how much he loves motorsports, but more than that, they want to see him happy. He hugs them tightly, tears streaming down his face.

"Thank you."

A right fist covered in ice smashes into the face of a masked opponent. The attacker hurls a sphere of ice with both hands, but his rival opens a fiery portal and vanishes, reappearing behind him to land a spinning side kick. The ice fighter retaliates with flying icicles, which are melted by a fireball. He charges with a flying kick, only to be grabbed, slammed into the ground, and finished with a crushing double stomp to the chest. Shattered bones scatter across the battlefield.

Glowing letters appear in the air: "Winner: Player Two."

"Ty, you're awful with the ice character!" someone laughs.

Tyron stares at the floor, thinking of Francesca. "My cousin's right… I'm not good with ice…" He hands over the controller, smiling. "You guys keep playing. I'll go outside."

He walks through the hallway to the backyard, greeting relatives grilling meat, kids playing with toy blasters, and adults laughing. He grabs a soda, looks up at the sky, and wonders what his friends are doing. He imagines Alexa and Francesca in elegant dresses, and Emily terrified by a Christmas horror movie.

He pulls out his phone, scrolling through endless selfies, then sighs. So much has changed this year—he went from being a bully to a vigilante protecting the city, learned to wield a mysterious energy… yet one pain remains. Despite everything, he couldn't save his friend.

Tyron climbs into the treehouse with his sketchbook and pencils. He opens a photo of his former best friend Antonio—smiling on the day they won an online match together—and begins to draw. Line by line, he captures the smile, the eyes, the joy. Sweat beads on his forehead as he adds the final details.

The doorbell rings.

"Tyron, go check!" his mother calls.

At the door, he finds Humberto and Nélida, carrying wine and salad. His mother greets them warmly, then whispers to Tyron, "I know you've been through a lot. I understand if you didn't want them here… but these dates are for reconnecting what's been broken."

She kisses his forehead and gently pushes him toward the backyard. Tyron smiles—somehow, it keeps Antonio close.

The Wind mansion is filled with guests in luxurious attire. From the second floor, Alexa watches the crowd, dressed in a fitted dress and white heels. She scans the room, listening in with her Fiu, growing irritated by shallow conversations about her sister Valeria.

She steps onto a balcony for air, fists clenched. A strange tingling crawls up her neck. She looks to the roof—nothing. Moments later, she notices a gray cat sitting where she stood before, tail swaying. She blinks. It's gone.

Outside, the gray cat walks along the pool's edge, a scar crossing its right eye. It glances back once—then vanishes in a gust of air.

At the Sejuk mansion, the kitchen buzzes as Mario showcases his culinary mastery. Francesca stands beside her father and aunt, smiling politely. She's dressed in a long blue gown embroidered with a cherry blossom motif, her golden hair braided elegantly.

She dances reluctantly with an older man who repeatedly steps on her feet and tries to touch her. Each time, she tightens her grip on his wrists just enough to warn him. When the song ends, she bows and steps away—only to find a line of would-be partners waiting.

Before she can react, someone pulls her onto the dance floor.

Gregorio.

"I saved you from the vultures," he says, smiling.

She raises an eyebrow, then smiles back. "You know I hate dancing."

"And you know I hate fake smiles," he replies.

They laugh, perfectly understanding each other.

Later, Carmen teases Gregorio about Tyron's obvious crush on Francesca. Gregorio smiles knowingly. "Fran isn't clueless—she just doesn't know how to tell friendship from love. That's something Tyron will have to show her."

Elsewhere, Jayden arrives at a modest home, gifts in hand. He's welcomed by his grown children and their families. Laughter, food, memories, and warmth fill the house. When Dwayne introduces his girlfriend Meredith, Jayden smiles gently.

"Welcome to the family."

The night passes with stories, teasing, and joy. Under the starry sky, Jayden watches his family laugh and thinks quietly:

They gave me the courage I never had.

Near dawn, the Sejuk household finally quiets. After a heated argument between father and son, a painful truth surfaces—Jerome is ill. Francesca intervenes, risking herself to make her brother face his desire to give up.

In the end, Jerome agrees to treatment—not for his father, but for his little sister.

Francesca collapses into tears, held by Mario and Jerome. Alexandre watches from afar, realizing too late how much he's lost.

Back at Jayden's gathering, the younger generation laughs under the night sky, talking about rumors of "new troublesome siblings" shaking the Society of Users.

"Challenging the Director and picking fights with the Countess?" one laughs.

"They sound insane."

"They sound fun," Dwayne replies warmly. "I'd like to meet them someday."

And under the same Christmas night sky, across different homes and hearts, bonds tighten, wounds ache, and hope quietly endures.
