As the sun sets, I rise from the cliff, grab my bag, and head into the forest. The moonlight soon filters through the trees, casting a soft glow that makes the forest seem magical. The dirt trail stretches ahead, and the lake to my right shimmers a royal blue, reflecting the moonlight in glistening waves.
I sit on a log, the peaceful sounds of frogs croaking, grasshoppers chirping, and the rustling leaves filling the air. But suddenly, everything falls silent. My heart races as I spot glowing white eyes staring at me from across the lake.
A creature steps into the light, its body is pitch-black, with a deer skull for a head. It locks eyes with me before disappearing into the forest. Fear takes over, and I sprint away, not daring to look back. The sound of hooves grows louder behind me.
I trip over a root and fall, twisting my ankle. Everything fades to black as I lie on the ground, hooves drawing closer. As I think to myself is this the end?
