This time, Zara realized the situation she'd gotten herself into. Her face reflected both guilt and acceptance. Though I was furious, my wolf and I couldn't help but be proud of her.
She acknowledged her mistake, but she acknowledged it nonetheless. She understood she had to make amends to prevent similar problems.
Losing the battle was unacceptable to her. I would never agree let Zara spend the night with Alpha Bran. I would rather break the deal and kill him, consuming his entire pack in the process. I didn't care if it would be viewed with disapproval. No one touched what was mine.
Zara still resisted my authority, but for now, she did as I asked. I immensely enjoyed her defiance, but I also enjoyed her obedience.
I knew what she wanted from me, and I wanted the same. I forced myself to wait, barely maintaining my composure. No one had ever tested my control the way Zara did. I constantly fought the urge to rip her clothes off.
