Chapter 3 - The System

The attack was too sudden that Amra didn't even know how to react.

Unlike the weaklings, he didn't have any plans for attacking or counterattacking, leaving him completely defenseless.

His eyebrows twitched as he knew he had nothing to do, not even if he wanted to as the attack was just too quick for him to do anything.

And thus, he knew all he could do at the moment was to grit his teeth while embracing himself to bear the pain.

The back of his neck tingled as the air parted way for the incoming attack, but instead of being hit, the attack suddenly stopped mid air, changing its course and smoothly settled on the quiver behind his back.

"Fwh!" He breathed after realizing what it was. "That was a close one. But I've now learned never to drop my guard." He spoke while wiping the cold sweat from his chin.

"So thirty seconds are already over, huh?" He thought as the remaining arrows came flying back to the quiver, using the same speed they were thrown.

Either way, since he was already familiar with his surroundings, Amra leaned against the wall while walking through, and he soon came across the door to one of the rooms in this section, but he just didn't blindly walk through.

He first placed his ear against the door and listened carefully, and after noticing there wasn't anyone or anything around, he pushed the door open and walked in, then closed it behind him as he was after a "safe" spot to learn and understand.

"I guess this would do for now." He muttered while sliding against the door and sat down before summoning the bluish screen that displayed in his mind.

[Quest completed]

[Congratulations, you have been granted a passive skill.]

[System Adaptive Skill]

[This passive skill continuously monitors the user's weaknesses and limitations and automatically generating tailored skills to compensate. Each adaptation is uniquely crafted to enhance survival, combat efficiency, or sensory perception, ensuring the user evolves beyond their vulnerabilities.]

'This..!' He thought while his hand Instinctively rushed closer to his eyes. 'I hope this can help out.' He smiled bitterly as he hoped for the best.

The skill somehow was special and powerful to Amra, that's depending on his condition, and it sounded more like the skill's aim was to make sure that he had zero weaknesses.

It was more like a system cheat, like imagine yourself not having money and you want to buy something, then the system all of a sudden grants you money out of the blues, just because you needed it for survival. Or at least that's how he imagined it working.

He still had time to fully exploit it and he had no rush. All he needed for now was just to survive.

'It's worth it after all.' he thought while moving forward to more texts displaying.

[The user can now view his status window]

'Now how the hell do I do that?' He thought but, suddenly, the screen automatically shifted.

[Name: Amra Imoh]

[Race: Human]

[Rank: Unranked]

[HP: 10]

[Fluxed Cells: 10] (controls an ability)

[Level: 1]

[Exp: 80/100]

[Strength: 10]

[Agility: 10]

[Stamina: 10]

[Stat points: 10]

"Can I use... An ability?" Amra spoke, almost chocking on his own words after he came across the word fluxed cells, FC.

It was clear what that stands for, it was obvious that it was an ability as the system had already explained and yet, Amra had none registered in his essence.

To him, this was like having a a gun but with no bullets, completely useless.

It wasn't like the archery skill was costing anything for utilization, he could feel it. Nothing seemed shifting within while utilizing the passive Wind Piercer skill. It just happened, naturally.

"No rush! A little more patience, Amra. After all, the game had just begin." He spoke to himself while shifting his attention back to the screen.

On the status window, he noticed that there were some more tabs located at the bottom right corner that, without doing anything and just by reading the tabs in his head, the screen automatically switched.

[Combat Disciplines]

[1. Archery]

{Skills: Wind Piercer}

Amra didn't need to go through this part twice as just as everything was clear to him like an open book. And thus, he pushed on to the next tab.

[Special Skills]

{Passive:1. System Adaptive Skill}

{Active: 0}

Amra's lips curved to a smile after going through this part. Just based on its arrangement, it seemed like there, much more skills that he could learn, and he just have to figure out how. This was unasked adventure to him and luckily, he already had his boots on.

It wasn't like he had a choice anyway. It's fight or die, and he would certainly never choose die.

[Ability]

[Unlearned.]

[Note! The user can only learn an ability after locating an ability book. The strength of ability would be determined based on the stars on the book]

[System Note! Abilities may also be obtained within dungeons.]

{Unlike books, these abilities are not ranked, they are mythical, forged in the heart of forgotten trials and bound to the dungeon's essence.

To enter a dungeon, the user must first consume a Dungeon Stone.

This initiates a binding sequence, tethering the user's soul to the dungeon's laws. And Once inside, survival becomes the only currency, and those who endure may be granted abilities that defy classification.

These mythical abilities are rare, unpredictable, and often come with hidden costs.

Some whisper that they are remnants of ancient gods.

Others believe they are curses disguised as gifts.

Only one truth remains:

You do not leave a dungeon unchanged.}

[System advice: Go for the dungeon ability]

"I see." Amra muttered while scratching his chin while at a dazed state. "Oh f*ck!" He cursed while suddenly stopping. "I forgot that I'm now blind but... Why the fucking hell must it have too many rules!" He screamed but suddenly covered his mouth using the both of his hands as he didn't wish to attract the attention of more weaklings, not while still trying to learn about the system.

He got curious though about the system advice, he just couldn't tell if this was the System Adaptive Skill functioning or something else. But all in all, if that would mean that he would be at the top of the food chain, then who would he be to ignore the system advice?

He moved on to the next tab and this didn't have much information to display.

[Quest]

[Main Quest:Get to level 10]

[Quest reward: Enter the ranking system]

After going through the system and learning everything that he possibly could, Amra had to just think about closing the system, and it did disappeared from his mind. And when he thought of opening the system again, the screen would automatically display in his mind.

"So that is it?" Amra muttered while standing and took some quick stretches as he understood what awaits him. "Since I plan to go for the dungeon ability, I should gather as many combat discipline scrolls as I can." He spoke but. "Look at me speaking, as if I even know how to do that at the first place." His face turned awkward as he suddenly heard a stupid expression on his face.

But before he could even do anything...

"Help!!!"

He suddenly heard a female scream echoing in his mind.
