Windsor's POV
No matter how hard I tried to ignore it, the worry gnawed at me all day.
Pauline had been acting strange since morning. She picked at her lunch without eating and sat silent through first period, which was completely unlike her usual cheerful self. By afternoon, her face had turned pale and distant.
"Everything okay?" I asked, studying her with growing concern.
Pauline nodded weakly but kept chewing her bottom lip. "Could I maybe go to the nurse's office?"
"We only have one class left," I said, checking the time.
"That makes it even easier. Want me to walk with you?"
She shook her head and managed a small smile. "Thanks, but I can handle it myself."
I watched her figure disappear down the corridor, an uneasy feeling settling in my chest.
Something was definitely wrong, but I knew Pauline well enough to understand she would talk when she felt ready. Against my better judgment, I decided to give her space.
