Apex Academy was never my dream destination. The whole concept of judging werewolves by their school credentials rather than their actual character always struck me as fundamentally wrong.
People automatically assume you're superior because you attended Apex, while simultaneously looking down on those who didn't make it through their gates.
"I have enough respect without needing Apex's stamp of approval," I had argued with my mother, whose frustration matched my father's perfectly.
"I understand your position," she replied, rubbing her temples wearily. "But this represents an incredible opportunity, Zion. Something no genuine Alpha should walk away from."
My destiny had been decided for me.
Since I was trapped in this predetermined path, I resolved to make it meaningful by discovering whether Apex truly lived up to its pristine reputation.
My first day revealed the ugly truth immediately.
