Windsor's POV
The sharpness in her voice caught me completely off guard.
I froze mid-step, my outstretched hand pulling back as though I'd been burned. Instinct drove me backward, away from the possibility of her voice climbing even higher.
"I apologize," I said hastily, though confusion clouded my thoughts about what had triggered her reaction.
She released a heavy breath and pressed her fingers against her temples. "Where did this come from?" she asked, her words carrying an edge of worry that made my stomach clench.
"I don't remember bringing it here," I answered carefully. "I discovered it once, deep in the forest near the Southern territory."
Scarlett's face remained stone-still, her stare locked on the small box as if it held secrets that could destroy worlds.
"It brings me peace," I continued, scrambling for the right words. "I realize how odd that sounds, but there's something about it that feels right. Like destiny placed it in my path."
