Henry urged his horse forward, its hooves pounding relentlessly against the road as it galloped at full speed.
The conversation in the dungeon replayed over and over in his mind.
Not even a conversation. Leonard had barely looked at him.
Henry clenched the reins until his knuckles turned white.
"He ignored me..." he growled through gritted teeth. "Like I'm nothing. Like I'm some piece of disgusting filth."
His horse weaved past startled merchants and rattling carriages, leaving cries of alarm in its wake.
"No one will even notice that I'm gone," he muttered bitterly. "Why would they?"
A hollow laugh escaped his lips.
"Because I'm useless."
He dug his heels into the horse's sides, urging it to run even faster.
The castle quickly disappeared behind him, swallowed by the distant horizon.
A powerful gust of wind slammed against his chest, as though trying to force him back, but Henry leaned lower over the horse's neck and pressed onward.
