Just as the two were talking on the phone, the Police of Hell's Kitchen appeared again in their dilapidated patrol cars; the Police always appeared so promptly.
The Police who came to Chen Ye for information was an old acquaintance of Chen Ye, Gwen's father, George Stacy.
George Stacy stepped forward and asked Chen Ye, who was on the phone, "What's going on, Chen Ye? Can't you just settle down? Why are there another group of people collapsed at your restaurant door today!"
Seeing this, Chen Ye could only cover the phone and say to George Stacy, "This time, I didn't provoke them. It was a group of people calling themselves S.H.I.E.L.D. who insisted on taking Pietro and his sister away. I'm currently negotiating with the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., so don't bother me for now."
George Stacy could only wait on the side for Chen Ye to finish his call.
Nick Fury on the other end of the phone, seeing that Chen Ye wasn't speaking, could only say, "Mr. Chen, S.H.I.E.L.D. has many collectibles, some are mysterious, some are from outer space. We can agree to lend you one item. And I can approve up to five million U.S. dollars. How does that sound?"
Nick Fury's calculation was very good. S.H.I.E.L.D. had a pile of collectibles that he himself hadn't fully understood. Lending one out wouldn't hurt, and besides, he didn't specify when it would be lent.
Then, for the five million in compensation, he would just write a report to the World Security Council saying that the loss this time was several hundred million U.S. dollars, and then S.H.I.E.L.D.'s funding would be all set.
"Twenty million, two collectibles, and I want to pick them myself. I'll visit another day. Also, I have two more conditions. If you don't agree, I'll just let the Police take them away," Chen Ye said decisively.
Nick Fury also heard the determination in Chen Ye's words and knew that this was the final offer.
And Chen Ye's offer wasn't unacceptable; it was just hearing the words "conditions" that made Nick Fury feel uneasy, as if he was about to get on a pirate ship.
But at this point, he could only bite the bullet and say, "First, tell me your two conditions, and I'll see if I can handle them."
Chen Ye looked at George Stacy on the side, then at the dilapidated patrol car, and said, "First, the equipment and patrol cars of the Hell's Kitchen Police Department are quite old. Even if I donated money, our patrol cars here have been used for over ten years and are falling apart. You S.H.I.E.L.D. must have a lot of good equipment, right? Sponsor them. The demand isn't high, just your discarded equipment, weapons, and patrol cars."
George Stacy, who had just finished understanding the situation from Master Ye and others, didn't expect Chen Ye's request to be for them, which moved and pleased this dedicated Police Director.
He truly understood how impoverished the Hell's Kitchen Police Department was. The city government seemed to have forgotten their precinct, allocating only a meager sum each year, just enough for regular salaries. There was no funding for promotions, raises, year-end bonuses, or equipment upgrades.
They dealt with the most heinous criminals with the lowest salaries and the oldest weapons. This was the current state of the Hell's Kitchen Police Department. If it weren't for the justice in their hearts, who would be a Police in Hell's Kitchen?
So, they all detested Hell's Kitchen and its people. They never expected that the one who finally spoke up for them was precisely the person they most detested. How could this Police Director not be moved?
George Stacy looked around and saw that the other Police who had heard were looking at Chen Ye with reverence.
Nick Fury on the other end of the phone was baffled by Chen Ye's condition. He thought it would be something outrageous, but it was just this.
"No problem, I still have that much authority. We have a large amount of equipment discarded every year. I didn't expect Mr. Chen Ye to be kinder than I imagined. It seems we need to re-evaluate you," Nick Fury readily agreed.
He didn't expect this Chen Ye to have a positive side; he didn't seem like someone who only cared about his own interests.
The intelligence assessment was a bit one-sided; perhaps he could even be added to the reserve list for his Super Hero program.
Seeing Nick Fury on the other end of the phone agree so readily, Chen Ye also had Master Ye remove the gravity from all the Agents, and these Agents slowly stood up amidst groans.
At this time, Natasha and Coulson had joined the Agent force.
"One last point, and it's the most important one," Chen Ye said seriously, sweeping his gaze over all the Agents present.
"Tell me, as long as it's not a big deal, I'll agree," Nick Fury on the other end of the phone, having learned that Chen Ye had released all the Agents, replied.
Chen Ye looked at Coulson and Natasha and said loudly, "I hope you can stay away from my territory in the future, preferably never come here again, okay?"
Nick Fury was stunned after hearing this. He had just started to have a somewhat positive view of Chen Ye, and the other party immediately dashed it back to the bottom.
Nick Fury said with a darkened face, "I can't guarantee that. I can only say that today's events will not happen again. As long as you don't commit any crimes, we won't actively trouble you."
"That's enough. Remember to send the money. I'll visit another day to see my collectibles," Chen Ye then hung up the phone and turned to Natasha.
"I hope we never meet again. Every time I see you, nothing good happens. Agent Natasha, goodbye, and good riddance."
Then Chen Ye walked into the restaurant without looking back.
The residents outside Hell's Kitchen cheered and shouted excitedly when they saw the Agents leave dejectedly.
They were all residents of Hell's Kitchen. Usually, these government officials would be arrogant and look down on them, never showing them any respect.
The government officials never cared about the lives of the people in Hell's Kitchen, as if this place had been forgotten. However, Chen Ye had achieved victory over these officials, which made them extremely excited, as if they were the victors.
George Stacy, the Police Director of Hell's Kitchen, couldn't help but exclaim, "It feels like a long time since I've seen such a sight in Hell's Kitchen."
This sentence was just overheard by Deadpool, who was about to leave. He said with rare seriousness, "Because they saw hope they had never had before."
The next second, Deadpool reverted to his usual cheeky expression and then shouted to the residents of Hell's Kitchen, "Party! Feast! Drink! Chen Ye's paying! Let's go!"
Hearing this, George Stacy looked at the restaurant entrance with a complex gaze. Was Hell's Kitchen finally getting a savior?
The people of Hell's Kitchen felt that ever since Chen Ye returned, they seemed to slowly be able to live as ordinary people. This feeling was both unfamiliar and anticipated.
The cheers of the residents echoed throughout Hell's Kitchen.
Not far from Chen Ye's block, a blind hero who wore a red and black battle suit and traversed the streets and alleys of Hell's Kitchen every day heard the cheers coming from not far away.
"That direction, is that guy's territory? It's been a long time since I heard such pleasant and beautiful sounds in this desperate place. What has that guy done now? I really want to get to know this guy," Daredevil muttered to himself with a complex expression.
Although Daredevil had never met Chen Ye, he had long heard of him, as Chen Ye was the godson of Kingpin, the person Daredevil detested the most.
But Daredevil also admired Chen Ye. Look at the Continental Hotel, community schools, and the few blocks Chen Ye protected that were under construction in Hell's Kitchen. These were all things Daredevil himself couldn't do.
Daredevil had always believed that only his way was truly saving Hell's Kitchen, but Chen Ye showed him a different approach.
Kingpin in Fisk Tower had just finished listening to his subordinate's report about what had just happened.
Kingpin said with satisfaction, "That brat did quite well. It's really not suitable to go against government departments right now, but we can't let them think we're easily bullied."
Then he immediately instructed his secretary, "Arrange a meeting for me with the Big Apple City councilman. I heard he's short on funds for his mayoral campaign, and our Fisk Group is interested in sponsoring him."
Then Kingpin turned his head to look at the large floor-to-ceiling window. The scene outside was the dim Hell's Kitchen, and he sighed from the bottom of his heart, "Hell's Kitchen is slowly becoming lively. Let me see how far you can go."
