Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

He saw her in the book street.

Not in the way movies show it. No slow motion, no background score, just the rustle of old pages and the occasional call of a chai seller in the distance.

She was crouched near a forgotten corner stall, flipping through a worn-out copy of The Bell Jar. Wind in her hair, sunlight on her fingers. She didn't smile. She didn't even notice him.

But he noticed her.

Not because she was beautiful, though she was, in a quiet, unbothered way, but because she looked like she belonged to another time. Like she didn't just read stories; she carried one inside her.

He didn't speak. Just watched her from behind a stack of yellowed paperbacks, pretending to browse a poetry section he'd already read.

And maybe it was nothing. A passing moment. A fleeting glance.

But some moments don't pass.

Some glances stay.

And some stories begin long before either heart is ready to write them.

It wasn't love.

Not yet.

It wasn't even a meeting.

Just… a beginning.

Introduction of character:

Mayank Lahiri,

Mayank Lahiri is a man of quiet strength and simple beginnings. Raised in a middle-class family, he carries the values of humility, respect, and integrity with pride. Mayank walks through life with a quiet charm and undeniable handsomeness that draws people toward him. Loved by everyone for his sincerity and straightforward nature, he lives by a simple rule: "Give respect, take respect." To many, he seems perfect, a man who knows who he is and what he stands for. Yet, beneath his calm demeanor lies a trace of ego and a silence. He smiles with the world during the day but often finds himself alone with his thoughts at night. Honest to a fault, Mayank is someone who speaks his mind, even when the truth is hard to hear.

Paro Das,

Paro Das was born into luxury, the heiress of a rich and royal lineage. Graceful and elegant in every movement, she is the picture of beauty. But behind the silks and diamonds lies a different story, one of loneliness and longing. Though she's pretty and poised, Paro is often misunderstood and disliked, her delusional belief in the power of wealth making her seem detached from reality. Money is her armor, her comfort, and sometimes her curse. Clumsy yet composed, she hides her pain behind a smile, pretending that nothing ever touches her heart, though it does. She is not arrogant, but distant. Beneath the layers of elegance and pride is a girl who simply wants to be seen and loved for who she truly is.
