"Dragon egg? What nonsense are you talking about?"
Inside the Fairy Tail guild hall, Laxus stared at the egg Natsu was holding, looking speechless. He didn't believe it at all.
What "dragon egg"? In his eyes, this was just some fantasy Natsu made up from searching for dragons all day long.
"Don't you remember Natsu saying he was raised by a fire dragon? Since this egg likes him so much, it might really be a dragon egg."
Moen sipped his juice and said with a smile.
Clicking his tongue, Laxus muttered, "Pure nonsense."
He glanced at Natsu and voiced his thoughts directly. He didn't even believe Natsu was raised by a fire dragon.
"You bastard!"
Natsu couldn't hold back anymore. If he weren't still holding the egg, he would've already leapt onto Laxus to start a fight.
Of course, the result would be Natsu lying flat on the floor. Laxus wouldn't even care enough to fight him seriously.
Laxus ignored Natsu's useless rage and sat to the side. He was currently preparing for the S-Class Mage Exam. This time, he must pass!
Then everything would change. He would become a powerful S-Class Mage and take those more dangerous requests on the second floor.
Moen held Natsu down before he could pick a fight, then took out the reward from defeating the Forest Balugon and treated everyone in the guild to a big feast. Everyone got a share. Those who hadn't gone on missions today also benefited, and the guild stayed lively until late at night.
Over the next few days, Natsu held the egg everywhere—back at the dorm to incubate it, in the guild hall to incubate it, practically carrying it the entire day without getting tired of it.
The temptation of a "dragon egg," the chance to hatch a "dragon," was simply too huge for him. It actually made him stay calm for once.
"Natsu suddenly acting this obedient… feels a bit strange."
Sitting at the bar with his cane, Makarov watched Natsu and couldn't help feeling emotional.
As for that "dragon egg," he already knew quite a bit about it—all information from Porlyusica.
After being attacked by the Forest Balugons, the injured Natsu, Gray, and Elfman had gone to Porlyusica again, only to be scolded harshly.
Porlyusica complained that they came too often. If anyone dared show up injured this frequently again, she wouldn't treat them.
And of course, she had seen the "dragon egg."
Because of it, Porlyusica even came looking for Makarov personally.
The egg came from another world—Edolas—the same world Porlyusica and Mystogan came from.
Natsu would be disappointed. It wasn't a "dragon egg" at all. What was inside was a species called Exceed, the real rulers of Edolas whom even humans submitted to.
As for why this "dragon egg" appeared here, even Porlyusica couldn't explain. She also gave no suggestions on how to deal with this Exceed, leaving everything to Makarov to decide.
"Kids! I'm home!"
Just as Makarov was pondering how to deal with the Exceed, Macao's voice came from the entrance.
Macao pushed open the door, arms spread wide, shouting dramatically.
Everyone glanced at him and went back to what they were doing. No one responded.
Wendy, who came in behind Macao, covered her mouth and giggled. Everyone in Fairy Tail was always so interesting.
"Is this guy an idiot?"
A tiny voice beside Wendy spoke up.
"Carla, don't say that about Uncle Macao…"
Wendy looked at the small white-and-pink cat standing upright in a dress. This was Carla, her new friend.
Wendy had gone back to the Cait Shelter guild with Macao just to visit Roubaul and everyone, but she unexpectedly made a new friend and that friend was willing to come back with her. It made her very happy.
"Che~"
Carla turned her head with a "cheh" in response to Wendy's protest.
"Wendy's back!"
No one cared about Macao's return, but Wendy's appearance instantly drew attention. All the kids gathered around her.
With her gentle personality and cute appearance, Wendy was very likable. Though she joined recently, she had already grown close with everyone, especially the girls.
"Tsk… so this is what I get for not bringing gifts, huh?"
Seeing Wendy surrounded by everyone while he was ignored, Macao sighed and went off to submit his mission.
Meanwhile, Moen completed his training and entered the guild hall. His eyes were immediately drawn to the small white-and-pink cat. His expression was filled with surprise.
'Wait… where did this cat come from?
Happy is supposed to be a blue cat. And this one doesn't even look male. What… is going on?'
Moen felt confused. So the future guild actually had two cats? One blue, one white, one male, one female?
"This is Carla. She's my new friend."
Wendy introduced Carla to everyone.
Under the curious gazes of the guild members, Carla gave a polite curtsey, looking like a refined young lady from a wealthy household.
"A talking cat!"
"So cute!"
"I want one too…"
The last sentence came from Elfman, muttered quietly. His pet parrot had flown away, and he was currently in a phase where he wanted any "pet" he saw. He also wanted Natsu's "dragon egg."
It was strange—despite looking like a big, muscular jock, Elfman's personality was gentle and refined, giving off the vibe of a reliable homemaker. Compared to him, his sister and brother combined weren't half as noisy.
"Wendy, this Carla… where did you meet her?"
Moen approached the pair and asked. At the same time, fragments of information he knew began connecting in his mind.
"Over at Cait Shelter. I was playing outside when I met Carla, and then we became friends."
Wendy tilted her head as she answered seriously. Her expression showed confusion; Moen's expression was a little too serious.
"Just her? She was alone?"
Moen asked suspiciously.
"Mm! Carla was by herself!"
Wendy nodded firmly.
'Strange. Then where did Happy come from?'
Moen looked again at Carla, surrounded by the girls. He frowned, doubting his own understanding.
Based on what Moen knew, the name "Happy" was created in the Fairy Tail guild, since Happy had shouted "Still call me Happy!" before leaving, meaning Happy received that name in the guild.
'So… could Happy be Carla's child?!'
This conclusion made both some sense—and absolutely no sense.
There was no male Exceed in the guild. Carla couldn't possibly produce a child alone. And she didn't look pregnant.
"Wendy! Look what I have! I found a dragon egg!"
Just as Moen was deep in thought, Natsu ran over with a grin, presenting the "dragon egg" to Wendy.
But the one who reacted the strongest wasn't Wendy—it was Carla. She looked at the egg like she'd seen a ghost.
Her strange reaction made Moen suddenly have a revelation.
Moen's gaze shifted to the egg. His expression turned strange. The whole situation felt unbelievable.
'Don't tell me… this egg is Happy?
No way—what kind of cat hatches from an egg?!'
Moen complained internally. It wasn't his fault he didn't consider it. His thinking was too normal for something like this.
