Chapter 207: News from the Brother-in-Law
Sapphire and Ryan met up. Sapphire said a little embarrassedly, "Sorry, I was too hasty just now. If I had used Low Kick, it might have been easier."
Ryan nodded and said, "It's good that you can reflect on yourself. After all, everyone makes mistakes. Just correct them and overcome them."
Ruby then said, "Speaking of which, Ash is going to battle Tyson soon. Should we go watch?"
Ryan nodded and said, "Sure, let's see what kind of battle they will have."
After saying that, the four of them rushed to Group A's field. However, there were no seats left, so they could only stand at the back to watch.
Ash's battle against Tyson began. Tyson used Meowth and Metagross, while Ash used Pikachu and Tyranitar. Judging from the types, it could only be said that it was evenly matched.
What opened Ryan's eyes was that Pikachu had learned Electric Terrain, instantly increasing its Electric-type power. Several Electro Balls made Metagross suffer greatly.
However, Tyson's Meowth also knows Thunderbolt, and although not as strong as Pikachu's, it still managed to give Tyranitar a hard time. Tyranitar and Metagross felt like they'd been screwed over: Why are they the ones who got hurt?! Why don't you two fight?!
But then Tyranitar remembered that after following Pikachu for so long, it also knew Thunderbolt! So Tyranitar started using its own Discharge. Metagross felt even more screwed over and decisively lashed out: One Earthquake and I'll send you all flying! You jerks!!!
All of the above were Ryan's thoughts, but that's exactly what happened. Pikachu suddenly leaped up and jumped onto Tyranitar. Tyranitar also used Earthquake, and the two Earthquakes canceled each other out, but they still cracked the entire field.
Pikachu seized the opportunity and hit Metagross with Thunder, taking away Metagross's last bit of health. Only one Meowth remained, struggling desperately, but it was quickly taken down by Pikachu and Tyranitar.
Thus, Tyson's journey ended there, while Ash advanced to the top 64.
After watching the matches, it was noon. Just then, Lillie received a call from her brother Gladion. Gladion sounded anxious, but essentially he was coming to Lilycove City immediately, hoping Ryan could remove the energy from someone's body.
Hearing this, Ryan had a bad feeling.
In the afternoon, since there were no matches, Ryan and his group, along with Ash's group, went to the airport. After waiting for almost half an hour, the Aether Foundation's plane landed, and Gladion rushed off the plane carrying a girl.
Ryan and the others recognized the girl; it was Platinum Berlitz. Ryan glanced at her and frowned, saying, "How could Platinum possess such violent power? You went to the Distortion World?!"
Gladion's face was filled with self-reproach. He anxiously said, "Ryan, hurry up and save Platinum."
Ryan nodded, placed his hand on the forehead of the unconscious Platinum, and then contacted the system to extract the violent power from Platinum's body. Ryan also obtained a Griseous Orb fragment (pseudo).
Holding the rice-grain-sized Griseous Orb fragment (pseudo) in his hand, Ryan said, "Tell us what happened. How did you enter the Distortion World?"
Gladion checked Platinum's condition and, after confirming that she was alright, recounted what had happened.
Gladion had entrusted Shaymin's Pokémon egg to Max, but he himself became interested in the place where Shaymin had been injured. Although Ryan had warned him it was dangerous, he still recklessly headed to Mt. Coronet in the Sinnoh region.
On his way to Mt. Coronet, Gladion encountered Platinum Berlitz. This young lady was also traveling to collect minerals to reach the summit of Mt. Coronet and forge her family crest. After meeting, the two decided to travel together to Mt. Coronet.
A series of events unfolded along the way. Looking at Gladion's expression, Ryan glanced at Lillie, and the two nodded, tacitly acknowledging one thing: there was something going on between them!
After all, Gladion usually gave off a cold and aloof vibe, but now, when recounting his experiences with Platinum, his tenderness was obvious to anyone with eyes. Oh, and let's not forget Ash, the epitome of a dense protagonist. Let's offer three seconds of silence for Serena.
After such a long journey, the two finally reached the summit of Mt. Coronet. Gladion paused for a moment, then said, "Now for the important part. The entrance to that Distortion World isn't stable. I spotted it three times on Mt. Coronet, each time in a different location. I missed it the first two times, but the third time, it was closer, and Silvally led us in."
Ryan rolled his eyes and said, "You guys really have a death wish. Giratina lives in the Distortion World, and it's not a friendly creature; it might just kill you."
Gladion nodded and said, "I know, but I've also discovered some things. The Distortion World is made up of floating islands with upside-down trees, waterfalls, and water surfaces, and the floating islands also contained buildings, all in an upside-down shape. Giratina discovered us but didn't attack; it just pushed us out. Although it didn't harm us, it felt like Giratina didn't want us to go any further; it seemed to be hiding something."
Ryan smacked Gladion on the head and said, "Don't think about these things. You're lucky you even got out alive. Don't cause any more trouble."
Gladion clutched his head, grimacing in pain. He still protested a bit, saying, "At least compared to Platinum, I'm alright, aren't I?"
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Down!" Ryan said.
Then Gladion passed out. Lillie called out worriedly, "Brother, are you okay?!"
The others also looked at Ryan with concern. Ryan shrugged and said, "He's fine, just like Platinum. He's just a bit stronger and held out a little longer. I'll remove the corruption from him, he'll be fine after a nap."
After saying that, he extracted the violent energy from Gladion's body. As for why he didn't extract it from the beginning, Ryan wanted to teach Gladion a lesson about courting death. This time he was lucky, but if something really happened and he couldn't get out, he would regret it!
Ryan picked up one of them in each hand, carrying the two like luggage. It was during the competition, and the hotels were all full, so he should take them to the players' dormitory first and let them rest.
As for Ash and the others, they heard about the Sinnoh region, and Ash decided to go to the Sinnoh region after his trip to the Hoenn region.
But just when Ryan thought the matter was over, in the Distortion World, Giratina took the two orb fragments floating in the air and flew deeper into the Distortion World. Gladion's conjecture was correct, but the problem was, Ryan simply wouldn't believe Gladion's words. He only thought it was an excuse for Gladion to go to the Distortion World again.
