Chapter 187: Capturing Kyurem
"Pop." The Ultra Ball burst without hesitation. Ryan frowned: "I don't have a Master Ball. The two I had after the Johto League were given to Celebi and Cosmoem. Now without a Master Ball, it's really hard to capture this Black Kyurem."
"Ding. Even with a Master Ball, you can't capture Black Kyurem," the system said.
"What do you mean?"
"Ding. Although the Trio are originally one, Zekrom and Kyurem have been separated for too long and have formed two separate consciousnesses. Zekrom follows N, so you can't capture Zekrom."
"Then separate the two for me. I want to capture Kyurem. Where is the DNA Splicers?"
"Ding. It's inside Black Kyurem's body."
"Tell me what you need. Separate them for me quickly. I don't want to fight Black Kyurem again."
"Ding. The diamonds and popularity points have been deducted, and the DNA Splicers have been extracted successfully."
As the system's voice fell, a round object with a white appearance but darkness visible through the small opening floated in front of Ryan. Ryan grasped the object, examining it carefully. He then asked the system, "This is another orb. I remember the DNA Splicers weren't like this. This orb should be similar to the Light Stone and Dark Stone."
"Ding. The DNA Splicers themselves are made from the God Stone, and now they're in their original form. They can be used to control Kyurem's fusion and separation, and function similarly to a Poké Ball, just like the Light Stone."
The system explained, instructing Ryan on how to manipulate it. Ryan used his psychic powers to control the God Stone's consciousness. Black Kyurem glowed and gradually split into two Pokémon.
Both Zekrom and Kyurem had lost their ability to battle. After separating, Kyurem was unable to control the cold energy within its body. Its two pairs of linear wings were once again covered in ice, and its body gradually became encased in ice as well, as if returning to frozen stasis to recover from its injuries.
However, Ryan controlled the God Stone, and Kyurem gradually faded and merged into it. Zekrom also transformed back into the Dark Stone and fell to the ground.
Ryan finally breathed a sigh of relief. He turned back to Reshiram and said, "Do you want to return to the Light Stone, or enter an Ultra Ball?"
He pulled out an Ultra Ball and placed it before Reshiram. Reshiram's blue eyes glared at Ryan, then shook its head and transformed into the Light Stone.
Ryan picked up the Light Stone and Dark Stone, holding the God Stone as well. Now all three dragons of Unova were in his possession. But Ryan didn't covet N's Zekrom. After all, he had Reshiram and Kyurem. Once he bonded with Kyurem, the two could combine to form White Kyurem, easily matching Zekrom.
Ryan healed his Pokémon and then exited the cave. Three other people were waiting outside.
He found Frost, N, and Blake. Ryan was a bit overwhelmed. The current situation was somewhat chaotic. He and Frost were from the Mercenary Guild, N was from Team Plasma, and Blake was from the International Police. Thus, three organizations—criminal, law enforcement, and mercenary—had come face to face.
N took the Dark Stone from Ryan and watched Blake reclaim Genesect. He said, "I'll let you have that Pokémon. After all, it's happier with you."
Blake looked at N with a complicated expression: he was International Police, but the one who saved him was the leader of a villainous organization. This made Blake feel extremely conflicted. After hesitating for a long time, Blake frowned and said, "Thank you for saving my life this time, but I want to ask you, what exactly is Team Plasma planning to do?"
N shook his head and said, "I don't want to do anything harmful. My goal is to create a world where Pokémon can live freely, no longer controlled by humans. Of course, that's my ideal."
Ryan patted Blake and said, "Don't overthink it. N isn't a bad person."
Blake glanced at Ryan and said, "I haven't asked you yet. Aren't you Ryan, the president of the Mercenary Guild? Why do you possess the Unova region's Legendary Pokémon, Reshiram? And what is your relationship with N? Is the Mercenary Guild planning to interfere in Team Plasma's affairs?"
"Smack." Ryan knocked Blake on the head and said, "I told you, don't overthink it. Reshiram was entrusted to me by N, and he also hoped that I could stop him. We agreed to have a battle. If N wins, he'll think his ideals are correct, and he'll continue on this path. If I win, it'll prove his ideals are flawed, and he'll stop. N will also join my Mercenary Guild and work for good from then on."
"Hey, when did I ever say I wanted to join your guild?" N said helplessly.
"It's only a matter of time. I offer freedom here, and the benefits are excellent. Why wouldn't you join?" Ryan said. "Besides, I've always had a spot reserved for you."
Frost narrowed his eyes, flashing his signature smile. "Boss, I hope you can approve a raise when we get back this time."
"No," Ryan said with a wave of his hand.
"Uh," Frost was speechless.
"Go into the breeding facilities and check them out. You can pick two Pokémon," Ryan said proudly.
"Thank you, boss! You're the best!" Frost's smile widened even more.
"Get away from me. I'm not into that." Ryan pushed Frost away as he lunged at him. Then he said, "Things here are resolved. I'll leave the follow-up to you. I need to return to Hoenn first."
Blake also stood up and said, "I'm leaving too. The next time we meet, we'll be on opposite sides."
Blake released Genesect, which had recovered somewhat, and jumped onto the disc-like Genesect, flying away. Ryan looked at Blake's Genesect and clicked his tongue. "Tsk tsk, giving away such a powerful Pokémon just like that? When it comes to generosity, I can't compare to you. By the way, can this Genesect be mass-produced?"
"What are you planning?" N suddenly tensed.
"Nothing, just asking," Ryan said. "If I win, I want to take over Team Plasma's research division and have them study this Genesect. I want to ensure that every member of my elite squad has one."
After hearing this, N smiled helplessly and said, "I suppose that'll happen eventually. The main issue is that the raw materials are difficult to obtain."
Hearing this, Frost couldn't help but fantasize about the day when he would own a Pokémon like that. He had seen the strength of that Pokémon before, and it was incredibly powerful. And the boss also said that in the future, everyone in the elite team would have one!
What was the point of working so hard to be promoted from the combat team to the elite team so quickly? Wasn't it to advance his career? Now that a clear path was laid out before him, Frost felt that his decision to join the Mercenary Guild was absolutely correct!
