Chapter 105: Splash Plate, Little Lugia
"What's this?" Bruno picked up a blue plate enclosed in a sealed glass sphere. The sphere held a transparent liquid, allowing the blue plate to float.
Confused, Bruno nudged Dr. Namba, who was standing nearby, and asked, "Hey, what's this thing for?"
Dr. Namba glanced at it and said unhappily, "This is a strange plate we found in the nearby sea. It possesses a magical power. Amplifying this power with a machine can attract Water-type Pokémon."
Bruno shrugged and asked, "That's all?"
"That's all. It's not very useful, so we sealed it after the experiment," Dr. Namba said.
Bruno nodded, casually tossing it to Ryan, saying, "Take it if you like. It's useless anyway."
Ryan took the glass sphere and put it in his backpack, unable to hide the smile on his face. "They actually said this is useless? Foolish humans!" Ryan thought to himself, then immediately contacted the system to analyze the plate.
"Ding. Check completed," the system voiced. "After testing, the plate belongs to Arceus's Splash Plate, but it has been fragmented into 24 pieces. After analysis of the plate, the legendary Pokémon data is complete. Please review it."
Splash Plate (Fragment): The power of Water-type moves used by the Pokémon carrying this item is increased by 20%, and there's a very low chance of comprehending the Origin Power.
Legendary Pokémon Power Classification:
Level 1-100 (Standard Pokémon)
Initial Mastery of Origin Power (Pseudo-Legendary)
Mastery of Origin Power (Third-Class Legendary)
Practical Application of Origin Power (Second-Class Legendary)
Rule-Making Domain Formation (First-Class Legendary)
Modifying the Universe with One's Own Power (First-Class Creator God)
"Ding. Triggering the Side Quest - Search for Arceus's Plate Fragments. After testing, it's confirmed that numerous plate fragments exist. Please collect them. Plates of the same type can be combined, helping Pokémon comprehend the Origin. Each collected plate grants one chance to comprehend Origin Power, with a 10% chance of the Pokémon successfully comprehending it."
Ryan silently observed the system's prompts, learning for the first time the power classifications of legendary Pokémon. According to the system's classification, Mewtwo and Celebi were considered pseudo-legendaries. The Team Rocket Mewtwo that had taught them was only a third-tier legendary.
It seemed those ancient legendary Pokémon truly possessed the power to devastate the world.
Without a clear vision of the path ahead, it's easy to lose your way. Without a clear understanding, Ryan had to admit he was truly looking at the world from a narrow perspective. Only when one truly understands power can one recognize one's own shortcomings.
Ryan silently resolved to make his Pokémon reach the pinnacle of the world!
Bruno looked at Ryan with some confusion: "What's wrong with this kid? He seems so much more mature all of a sudden, his old carefree attitude gone."
But that's a good thing, Bruno thought. At least Ryan has grown up a bit. While continuing to receive data from Team Rocket, the League personnel found the control room and sealed all the passages on the ground floor to prevent further influx of seawater.
Ryan was also assigned to catalogue the Pokémon of the Team Rocket grunts, which he actually enjoyed.
After checking the Pokémon of these grunts, they were indeed low-level, all of them of mid-to-low quality, with only one high-quality specimen. They handed them all over to the League personnel. Ryan and his companions had nothing else to do, so they said goodbye to Bruno and left. League follow-up personnel also arrived at Silver Rock Isle.
They boarded their speedboat and arrived at the island's main beach. Although they were on the island, follow-up work continued, and the League personnel couldn't let Ryan and his companions leave just yet.
Ryan and his companions didn't mind. Since the situation here was resolved, there wasn't much left for them to do. So, the three of them headed to the beach and started fishing.
Ryan took out his Super Rod and gave Rosa and Ruby a Good Rod each. The three of them began fishing by the sea.
Rosa was quite interested. After all, she didn't have any Water-type powerhouses yet, so catching a good Water-type Pokémon would be great.
"So, I'll leave it to you, Ryan," Rosa said.
Ryan frowned. "Why are you asking me to catch a Pokémon for you? Can't you fish yourself?"
"Who made you such a great fisherman, Ryan?" Ruby said with a grin.
Ryan's face flushed. He couldn't say he'd won by cheating! With two dry coughs, Ryan said, "Leave it to me then."
He cast the hook, and three minutes later, a top-quality Corsola took the bait. Rosa was thrilled, so Ryan sent Greninja to capture it. He also gave Greninja the Splash Plate fragment to test its power.
The Splash Plate could be integrated into the body of a Pokémon, saving Ryan the trouble of processing the plate. With the Splash Plate, Greninja's Water Pulse was incredibly powerful, instantly knocking out the Corsola with a single shot.
Even Ruby and Rosa looked at him with awe. Ruby asked Ryan curiously if he had given Greninja something new.
Ryan replied that no, perhaps Greninja had just had a breakthrough in training. He couldn't possibly tell them about the Splash Plate, so he deflected.
After catching this Corsola, Ryan cast his line again. Two minutes later, he hooked a mid-quality Corsola. He'd caught it.
He cast his hook into the water again. Three minutes later, he hooked another Corsola. He'd caught another Corsola. He'd done it again, and it was still a Corsola. Even Ruby and Rosa caught Corsola, too.
"This must be a Corsola colony," Rosa said, watching Ryan catch each one.
Ryan captured another mid-quality Corsola and said with a sullen face, "Let's change places! This spot is too weird."
Ruby and Rosa nodded in agreement. Then the three of them moved to a remote shoreline. This time, they cast their lines and finally caught a mid-quality Remoraid instead of a Corsola.
A little later, Rosa had better luck, landing a top-quality Gorebyss.
The Gorebyss resembled a pink, eel-like creature with a long, narrow mouth and two shell-like structures covering its chest, giving it a mermaid-like appearance. The Gorebyss also had a fin, tipped purple, like a tendril, on its head. A similar, but shorter, fin was on its tail. Two small eyelashes flared above each eye. The Gorebyss's tail had two bright stripes surrounding the purple fins.
Rosa was quite taken with the Gorebyss and immediately used her Serperior to weaken it before capturing it.
Ruby, on the other hand, didn't seem interested. He hadn't found any Pokémon he liked. After all, he was pursuing a dual path as a Trainer and a Coordinator, so he was very selective about Pokémon's appearance. His Water-type ace would be the Milotic that Champion Wallace had shown him.
Ryan knew Ruby's dream and didn't have the heart to discourage him. His future Water-type ace would be Swampert. He would also have Milotic eventually, but it would still be secondary to Swampert.
Suddenly, Ryan's fishing rod bent sharply. Ryan knew a large creature had taken the bait, probably a Gyarados or something similar.
Ryan pulled hard with both hands, and a silver-white figure was yanked out of the water.
Seeing the silver-white figure, Ryan's face fell, and he said with a wry smile, "Lugia!"
