Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: People Must Experience Three Deaths!

[It is said that everyone will experience three deaths.]

[The first death is when the heart stops beating.]

[The second death is when family and friends bid you farewell at your funeral.]

[And the third death is when everyone slowly forgets you.]

[After seeing Natasha Romanoff, I felt truly grateful from the bottom of my heart.]

[It's not that I'm glad I'm still alive, but that at least I haven't forgotten them...]

[Whether it's to keep their memory alive or to prevent the same fate from befalling this parallel world, I must find a way to avert that damned doomsday catastrophe.]

[This may be the only reason I survived. Or perhaps, it is the greatest tribute I can pay to them.]

[I believe that neither I nor any of the surviving Avengers would want to see the same misfortune happen to this world after experiencing doomsday.]

[There must be a way, there has to be!]

[Yet, how many times have I dreamed of going back to that midnight? I truly wish it had been others who survived...]

[I really... really miss them...]

The diary entry ends here.

After closing the diary, Natasha Romanoff's expression turned solemn.

"Director, although I haven't known him for long, I've analyzed him through our brief interactions."

"Whether it's Su's temperament, subconscious behavioral patterns, mindset, or other aspects, based on our short time together, he aligns with the description of a superhero who has fought for over a decade, as mentioned in the diary."

"After reading this diary entry, I believe I should reach out to him more."

"I'm certain his resolve is strong; otherwise, he wouldn't have been an Avenger protecting the world for over ten years."

"But the more someone is like this, the more they need support. Once Su Che's stress, anxiety, and other psychological pressures reach a breaking point, the rebound could have devastating consequences!"

Listening to Natasha's serious analysis, Nick Fury shook his head: "Natasha, I support your idea of getting closer to him, but I disagree with your conclusion."

"If Su is truly the superhero who has guarded Earth for over a decade, then even if his stress reaches a critical point, I don't believe it will lead to any irreversible consequences."

"A superhero who has protected the world for over ten years turning into a villain because of overwhelming pressure?"

"If that were the case, he wouldn't have been a superhero in his world to begin with."

"Natasha, I trust him just as much as I trust that you'll become an exceptional Avenger."

"However, I do agree that you should spend more time with him, help him relieve stress, and provide psychological support. I authorize you to use any method you deem appropriate to help him work through this."

"This also gives us an opportunity to observe him more closely. As the one who guided him into the Avengers in the parallel world, you hold a special place in his heart. I believe he will bring us significant surprises."

Hearing Nick Fury's solemn words, Natasha nodded seriously: "Understood, Director."

After the formal discussion ended, Natasha relaxed slightly and leaned back in her chair: "But Nick, what you said earlier doesn't sound like something you'd usually say."

"After all, you never trust anyone or anything completely."

Nick Fury didn't respond to Natasha's remark, simply reminding her to be cautious before ending the video call.

After the call disconnected, Nick Fury frowned slightly. His eyes lingered on the diary entry: "How many times have I dreamed of going back to midnight? I truly wish it had been others who survived. I really... really miss them..."

He fell silent for a long time before slowly closing the black-gold diary. He pressed a button on his desk, and soon after, the office door opened. The sharp and efficient Maria Hill walked in.

"Hill, the preliminary arrangements are in place. This time, I want you to personally lead the team to Sokovia. Whatever it takes, bring back the Maximoff siblings unharmed!"

"Yes!"

Maria Hill nodded solemnly. This was the first time Nick Fury had given her a "whatever it takes" order. Though she didn't know the full reason, she understood the mission must be accomplished.

Watching Hill leave promptly to prepare, Nick Fury leaned back in his chair. He had to prepare for every possibility. He trusted Natasha, but he couldn't place all his hopes solely on her.

Regardless of whether Su Che was truly a superhero who had protected his world for over a decade or had another identity, his significance to S.H.I.E.L.D. and this world was immense. Nothing could be allowed to go wrong. His psychological state had to remain stable.

Perhaps, with Natasha's support and the companionship of the Maximoff siblings, Su Che's psychological pressure could be alleviated.

At this thought, Nick Fury sighed unconsciously. He couldn't remember the last time he had to play babysitter, even worrying about someone's mental well-being!
