Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 - Armory Haul and a Ghost Hunt

The Arkvault's armory is a fortress of tech, walls humming with locked cases and holo-displays. I'm Alex, striding in with Squad Zero—Fiona, Dmitri, Lyra, and our new fifth, Kaelis. Our bracelets, loaded with S-level access, unlock the top-tier section. Fiona's eyeing a staff upgrade station, Dmitri's testing a spear mod, Lyra's fiddling with a scanner console, and Kaelis, optics sharp, scans a hacking tool rack. The armorer, a multi-limbed alien with a gravelly voice, greets us. "13th Elder's orders—upgraded gear, top-class, for your A-rank status."

I grin. "Like a gym refit with cosmic weights."

Fiona chuckles, grabbing a staff mod. "This'll make my shots sing."

Dmitri hefts a spear upgrade. "More punch for the fight."

Lyra's scanner hums. "This'll track anything."

Kaelis picks a hacking tool, optics gleaming. "Perfect for cracking systems."

The armorer outfits us: my power fist gets a flux boost, Fiona's staff gains precision, Dmitri's spear amps its force, Lyra's scanner sharpens its range, and Kaelis's tool can breach any network. "Best in the Arkvault," the armorer says. "Don't break 'em."

I flex my fist. "No promises, but we'll try."

Back at the penthouse, space windows framing nebulae, we crowd around holo-screens loaded with maps of the 4th Elder's turf—trade hubs, reactor zones, and shadowy habitats. Fiona pulls up Guild files on Rykor, the 4th's right-hand man. "Ex-Guild legend," she says. "Above A-rank, moves like a shadow, thinks three steps ahead."

Dmitri scans a habitat list. "He's got hideouts—Habitat-550, 612, maybe 733."

Lyra leans in. "Smart guy. Blends into crowds, slips through cracks."

Kaelis's tool syncs with a holo-screen. "I'll hack security feeds. We'll find his trail."

I nod. "Like tracking a cosmic fugitive. We learn his moves, then nab him."

Fiona's fingers tap the screen. "No killing. Capture only. Tough, but we're tougher."

Dmitri smirks. "He'll wish he stayed hidden."

Lyra laughs. "Bet I spot him first, fire guy."

Kaelis's optics flash. "My hacks'll beat your eyes, quickshot."

I clap my hands. "Focus, team. We pinpoint his haunts, then check 'em."

We dive into hacking, S-level access cracking neutral Arkvault systems. First up, Habitat-550's trade hub—security footage shows bustling aliens, but no Rykor. "Nada," I mutter, scrolling feeds.

Fiona frowns. "He's too good for open markets."

Next, Habitat-612's maintenance bay—dark corridors, flickering lights. We comb through hours of footage, spotting nothing. "He's a ghost," Dmitri grumbles.

Lyra smirks. "Or we're not looking hard enough."

Kaelis's tool beeps, pulling feeds from Habitat-733's reactor zone. We huddle, eyes glued to the screen. "There," Fiona whispers, pointing at a shadow—Rykor, slipping past a reactor, optics glinting, moving fast.

I grin. "Got him. Lock coordinates."

Kaelis taps his tool. "Habitat-733, sector 4, reactor core. He's there."

Dmitri's fist clenches. "Let's move."

Lyra's ready. "Time to tag this legend."

Fiona nudges me, voice low. "Ready, Coach?"

I wink. "Born for it, babe."

We punch the teleport code, S-level access flaring. The penthouse fades, and Habitat-733's reactor hums around us, Rykor's shadow just ahead. The chase is about to begin.
