ARGHHH!! ~ AGGHHH!
Just when i thought the curtains had finally closed for me, I've been woken up by screams. I slowly opened my heavy eyes, and was immediately greeted by a complete destruction.
Huhh!?
The absurdity of things that had happened to me was so overwhelming, that the only thing that came out of my mouth was a confused breath.
Just when i think i reached the bottom, i realized I'm standing on another trapdoor.
Waking up from a nightmare only to realize i was still in it, hadn't escaped it.
And as if the gods were getting off to my suffering, they added another firewood to my pile of raging problems.
Kekeke! Kill them all, left no one!
A man i could only presume as a bandit was telling it's comrades to continue their assault.
One of the bandits dragged a woman by its hair while the other one proceeds to stab her husband multiple times in the chest. Having lost it's sanity, the said lunatic then focused the attack on the poor man's face.
Thr~ust thru-st
The bandit continued to thrust the dagger over and over and over, to the point where the man was unrecognizable.
Having witnessed her husband's death, the wife lost hope, disparity written all over her face. It was either she becomes a slave or die and avoid the wicked things the bandits will do to her.
She chose the latter.
While getting dragged away, she picked up a broken arrow and stared at it, She then mumbled something under her breath before slitting her throat.
I could hear her gurgling and desperate gasp for air and our eyes locked, i wanted to look away but couldn't.
Finally after what seems to be an eternity, her body jerks one last time as she lets out an agonal breath.
"I NEED TO RUN, I NEED TO LIVE!"
"IF I WANT TO LIVE, I NEED TO RUN"
"I NEED TO RUN, I NEED TO LIVE!"
"IF I WANT TO LIVE, I NEED TO RUN"
...
I kept repeating those words in my head and mustered the courage to stand up and flee.
I ran, not caring if i was stepping on broken glass shards or other debris from destroyed houses. I kept running even when i entered the surrounding forest, knowing I'm still close to danger.
I did not stop even when i feel like I'm going to throw up and close to passing out at any second.
HAHH ~ HAHH
All i could hear is the sound of my breath, it was deafening. panting heavily like a dog. As the body grew tired from all the running, my vision was next to give up. everything is slowly getting blurry as i stumbled and fell on the soil.
.
Hanse... HANSE!!!
I flinched and hit my knee against the desk.
The classes are over lets go! We gotta hurry up and check what's new in my old man's Bookstore.
I shuddered in fear as i recognized whose voice it belonged.
H-how are y-you alive!?
I asked, voice shaking.
I must have looked ridiculous at this moment but i couldn't careless.
Woah, you good? You look pale as fuck. Have you been staying up late again?... That must be it, you were reading freaky shits again and not getting enough sleep aren't you? Bastard! I told you to take care of yourself more, look at you acting schizo.
I held my haid, confused if what i experienced earlier was actually real or just a nightmare.
It must be a nightmare, it has to be.
I said to myself, trying to offer comfort and a logical answer to my shaken mind.
After gathering my things, i left the campus with my friend and we head straight to his father's bookshop.
~Cling~
The sound of a small bell hits my ear as we entered the store, it was followed by a familiar smell of old books.
Nothing eases problems like reading.
Dad! you got new books on the shelves?
Mike called out to his father Mr. Brightside, with a loud "thud" his father dropped the box of old newspaper he is carrying and made his way towards us.
Actually i do, i do. hmm i got a lot of new books but mostly are not in English.
Mike and his dad continued talking and i chose to stayed out of it. i feel strange being here, i can't tell for sure but something's wrong and it's bothering me. I can't shake out this feeling, that I've been here before or should i say, this moment had happened before and I am experiencing it once again.
Although i tried to brush it off as me still being half asleep, the lingering feeling remained.
Hanse look at this one, it looks interesting don't you think?
When i looked at the book mike was pointing at, my body tensed. That book can't be normal, it felt ominous. But i guess curiosity really killed the cat.
Despite the awful feeling I'm getting from the book, i picked it up and tried to read it. To my dismay, the book is completely blank. It had no writing whatsoever, it's probably a printing error is what i thought.
I closed the book and planned to hand it to Mike's father but when i turned around, the store is empty.
The bookshop was generally small so i just did a quick scan and confirmed that they were gone. I looked through the glass door of the shop and saw mike waving across the street.
I thought his father is going to close the store for the day that's why Mike was in the other side calling. it was weird of course, couldn't mike just told me that the store is closing before he had left outside. Why didn't his father say anything.
Weird...
I said under my breath before heading out too, still holding the book. I walked towards mike to join him, but when i was about to completely cross the street. I heard Mike's voice calling for me, it did not come in front of me wich should have been the case but instead, the voice came from behind me. To be precise, it was coming from inside the store.
HANSE!!! LOOK OUT!!!
Mike shouted
Huhh!?....
A loud screeching sound was the last thing i heard...
And...
Everything went dark...
Once again...
