Chapter 16 - The Chameleon and the Spider

Spider-Man was very confused; one moment he was following up on a lead from Yuri, the first thing his other half had known was that it was about a lead on illegal drugs, a secret warehouse operating.

Yuri called him to bring him up on what he and the police force know so far as Sekinin's web swung to the location that they believed was where the drugs were being illegally made.

And while he was in there he used the darkness as well as the walls and ceiling to his advantage as it was there that Sekinin began to train himself to do stealth takedowns. An idea he got when he was playing really good games with stealth missions.

As to Sekinin it was a blast so far, he webbed two people on the ceiling and three people on the wall. And thankfully because he is moving around the warehouse stealthily, no one noticed him but that didn't mean they weren't getting concerned or worried about five missing people who just mysteriously vanished.

"Hehe… I should do stealth more often, this is actually kinda fun."

Sekinin mutters to himself as he is tailing another guy to use a stealth takedown while carefully walking on the metal roof as he webs up the unfortunate guy and leaves the guy hanging on his webs.

Sekinin took the opportunity to call Yuri, on his phone, which he brought with him. Which also means that where he is at is where he has his phone while the other half is literally telling Nijika that he forgot his phone at home and being scolded by her.

Anyways, he put Yuri on the call as well as ensuring the sound on his phone doesn't give him away.

"Yuri, your sources are legit. I've already webbed a few people on walls or ceilings. People are getting suspicious but haven't found out it was me, at least not yet."

"[Got it! Try to at least web them all up without any of them clearing the evidence, or for you to use the evidence like using an object as a means to attack.]"

"Hehe, so you're fine with me pulling out fire hydrants with my webs?"

"[Don't push it! Some people, well actually just two people are still suing you for wetting their clothes and electronics that were near those two specific hydrants.]"

Sekinin snickers as he follows another guy who looks too smart for his own good as Sekinin simply web up him.

"[Sekinin, my offer still stands. I can still send over the cavalry to help you with the raid. And I could—!]"

"Yuri, I said I can be fine on my own."

["Are you very sure? I can just always have a squad ready at the location right away."]

"Just wait until I can…Wait hold on Yuri! My spider-sense is reacting."

Sekinin immediately went silent. He can feel his head having swiggling lines around his head at the moment. For Sekinin, his spider-sense is always mysterious to him, whether it warns him about danger or not. And now it isn't dangerous, but someone who could somewhat be an ally or is doing the same thing he is doing but in a different way of handling it.

And what Sekinin meant is that his sense pointed him to one of the men but it was like he wasn't the real person, just acting like he was very in character with the person he must have been acting as. When two other men approached him, the guy spoke with so much conviction that he wasn't faking a person's identity, which tells that he is one of the people the two men saw or knew as they just went back to do their business.

But then not even 30 seconds later he came across another man but he took him down with no noise or much struggling. It was very surprising to Sekinin as he had to use the darkness as cover because he stared at this strange man for too long and he sensed the guy must have felt his staring and looked at the ceiling.

But what was more strange to Sekinin was that what he sensed was exactly what he felt during the morning shopping back when he had just learned he had powers. And that it was also that day when the gun shot incident happened. The reason why he felt like the guy is acting like someone familiar in the whole operation to fool everyone is the name he heard from the rumors. The person who was killed two months ago said the name Chameleon.

It may be out of reach, but his senses don't usually forget what he would always sense now and then, aka, more often than he ever could imagine.

"Yuri, I'm going to put you on hold. But do me a favor. Get everything you need to know about an individual called Chameleon. Because I think I'm seeing the person who might have caused that gun shot incident involving the death of that businessman from the group of suspicious people two months ago."

Before Yuri could ask what Sekinin meant, he was put on hold as Sekinin began to quietly crawl around the ceiling while using the darkness. He watches the guy taking down a few more men and hides them behind objects that wouldn't get anyone to see anything amiss. Sekinin was almost convinced that the two of them were truly on the same side but his guts said otherwise.

Sekinin crawled around just to ensure he didn't reach his radar which is surprisingly long even for him to witness as he can tell the guy he is certain is the Chameleon wearing the face of someone. As if his senses weren't the only spot on, it is just how perfect the guy is at showing himself to be someone else.

But that didn't mean Sekinin was going to let Chameleon take all the fun, so he just continued with his own thing of stealth takedowns while ensuring he didn't even take a bit of his sights away from the Chameleon.

But the two ignored one thing, it was how the leader now noticed the massive quietness of the warehouse as he began shouting for backup and yelled someone is here as within a second more men rushed in with guns and tranquilizers. The lights of the warehouse were turned on, as everyone spotted two different people, the guy everyone heard could act like a spider, and the other guy who immediately thought was their co-worker betraying them, but with a twist.

"BOSS! I found Rick unconscious! That imposter isn't Rick, it's Twilight! The Chameleon!"

"DAMN IT ALL! KILL THE SPIDER! KILL THE CHAMELEON OR TWILIGHT! WHATEVER HE IS CALLED! JUST KILL THEM BOTH!"

Guns fired and bullets, including tranquilizers were all heard as the vigilante and the guy whom Sekinin definitely heard as Twilight, dodged with perfect speed. None of the lethal or needles hit them as Twilight moves so fast as if he were very well trained for such a scenario while Sekinin just allows his spider-sense and improved reflexes to dodge the bullets and tranquilizers coming in his way.

But while dodging Sekinin web shot a few goons to either block their visions or just disarm them as Sekinin just either webbed them up to a nearby pole or a box crate while Twilight just knocks them out with punches or kicks while also doing impressive movement.

"Hey, Twilight. Does the light mess with your name or do you need to have half of the lights off to be named Twilight?"

Sekinin attempting to make a quip for the whole fight with the Chameleon or Twilight, depending on which name he goes by, just gives Spider-Man a look of annoyance, not just the quip but the way Spider-Man spoke about his name.

"No wonder WISE still hadn't considered him as either a threat or a potential ally if Spider-Man is actually speaking like this."

The disguised Rick mutters in either pure annoyance or just pure calculation of what the point of that statement Spider-Man just made. Twilight just continues to use his pistol to ensure the threats in front of him are eliminated.

While Sekinin didn't hear what the Chameleon said, the expression he wore on his masked face of someone who had already said his answer. But at the same time feels a bit disturbed by Twilight's way of handling things yet for some odd reason he didn't even do anything other than just dodging. As if his body and mind had already told him Twilight is a good guy despite never meeting him at all.

"Sheesh, tough crowd. Anyway, what about you guys? Do those suits feel less tight than my own suit?"

Sekinin just quipped the men shooting at him as that is literally his question in the form of a quip. The men didn't even speak, just kept on shooting on orders from their boss for this whole operation.

Sekinin either has to use his webs to completely web up a guy to either swing him around like a tornado or just jump swing to knock them onto a wall and just get stuck there. The possibilities of having webbing come out of his wrists can truly make Sekinin think of possible combinations during combat as he just did what he had thought of.

Like webbing up the first guy to swing around with a web line knocking or hitting other men around Sekinin as it even impressed Twilight who knocked out a guy from behind with a fist to the head. And even more surprising is how a web swinging to another web up guy to the wall looks like a fast way to get an enemy off the battlefield completely while being stuck on the wall.

"Guess you do more than just talk Spider-Man."

"Hey, a compliment I'll take it!"

The Chameleon just ignores Spider-Man's comment and continues to fight while Sekinin does the same. In a minute of fighting alongside each other, something neither one could ever imagine, they are both facing down the leader of the illegal drug making.

And boy did he look so purple in fury. The leader screams and just fires his gun in pure rage as Spider-Man and Twilight just dodge and do a combo attack of Sekinin just punching the leader with a fist going upwards that launches him up while Twilight slams the leader's body to the ground making him unconscious at the moment the leader's face hits the solid ground.

"Huh, that was easier than I thought. But hey, at least we… Oh, you've got to be kidding me."

Sekinin stopped mid-sentence as he found himself sensing the pistol being aimed at the side of his head. Sekinin slowly raised his hands up and just kept on talking.

"Buddy, this isn't the first time that someone tried to shoot me from the side. Normally, I would be threatened at the front or back so this is rare."

While Sekinin feels a bit threatened, if he is being honest, after two months of being Spider-Man, there was a time when he wasn't at gunpoint by someone who would rather shoot him than deal with him.

"I'm curious Mr. Chameleon, or do you prefer Chameleon-san? Why exactly are you here? I mean sure I don't really know you as this is our first meeting with each other. And you don't know me either, well, who wouldn't as you and everyone else saw me in the news and such."

The Chameleon didn't say anything, but slightly lowered his pistol. Sekinin watched as he sensed the Chameleon wasn't exactly wanting to shoot or harm him, just wanted to see how he reacted. And it was like he got his answers.

Then without saying anything else, he immediately jumped from one crate to another and instantly left through the window. But Sekinin gave chase, for one, the Chameleon didn't technically respond to his question but he was also wondering why exactly Chameleon was also here because one Yuri would have immediately told him if he sent someone else, and two, well actually Sekinin didn't have another reason but he still gave chase.

Sekinin shot a web line in hopes of stopping his movement along with other web shots to ensure the first shot did fail, but the Chameleon moved even faster than Sekinin's own speed. Or maybe Sekinin himself noticed just how much experience the Chameleon has with his speed or agility compared to his own.

And Sekinin noted that the Chameleon must have years of experience with whatever the Chameleon does in his spare time than Sekinin with his two months of being Spider-Man. Within ten seconds, Sekinin lost the Chameleon near the docks as he was hanging on the web of a lamp post trying to spot any traces but couldn't find a single clue or trace of the Chameleon.

Sekinin took the time to pull back his phone and unhold the call he put on Yuri. Though he is still surprised Yuri was still in the call, but then again, he did know Yuri's overprotectiveness of him and Yor so Sekinin is surprised that Yuri even allowed Sekinin to do his thing.

"Great… Hey Yuri, sorry if I'd put you on hold for this long but—"

Sekinin barely explained himself as he quickly web swung to the rooftop of the warehouse as he watched police cars immediately drive to the entrance of the warehouse as it looked like a manhunt had just been called. Sekinin saw Yuri in his officer uniform immediately commanding other officers to raid the warehouse in a very worried yet scary tone.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to hang up the phone."

Sekinin mutters as he presses the end call button and puts away his phone knowing Yuri would use all of his willpower not to scream Spider-Man's real name and check if he had any injuries or damage.

"[Twilight, was the hidden raid successful?]"

The guy who was disguised as Rick tore his face off revealing a blond man with blue eyes and a calculated expression on his face. He is currently already far away from the docks and warehouse as he is in a very old-looking phone booth that looks like it has never been used in years from a normal perspective.

The speaker of the other end sounded female as Twilight spoke of the mission.

"Yes, Handler, but at the same time the raid wasn't hidden for as long as Spider-Man was there as well. I believed he was led there by an anonymous source but I've noticed his experience and fighting style are… Average, but his current capabilities, including what exactly makes him act like a spider, do make him unique."

There was silence on the other side of the phone line as a "hmm" was heard from the other line.

"[The Sensational Spider-Man was also there? I suppose he didn't know who that warehouse belonged to?]"

"I doubt it, but for me, I believe I found something that definitely led to the one we're searching for."

The other side was quiet again, but the voice spoke in a calm tone.

"[Twilight, even you and I know the leads we kept having, the potential suspects we always caught. It will be hard to say what you have acquired…]"

"What I have will be the one. Out of anything I've gotten from what we gather, what I've obtained surely—"

"[Twilight. Must I remind you that I didn't train a spy to lose his composure that easily? And believe me, even if I didn't know. I understand you're desperate to find the answers to what actually happened nearly three years ago.]"

Twilight didn't say anything. Not for a moment. Until he spoke with his composer back in place.

"I refuse to believe it. I refuse to believe that car crash was what killed him. There is no possible way Richard would have died easily in a car with that much speed. Someone, out there, planned it, planned to kill him and Mary. I'm tired of how this is still a wild goose chase for finding the identity of the Kingpin."

"[Twilight, we have the same goal, to keep the peace and eliminate corruption and evil. The Kingpin is one of our obstacles in keeping the peace. Believe me, we're doing our best to find out more information or personal things about the Kingpin. All we have to do is take on the leads we have, including what you acquired from that warehouse. Come back to headquarters to learn what we have now.]"

"Yes, Ma'am."

Twilight waited in case for the last few words that needed to be said from the Handler as if the other side of the phone had already got something to say to Twilight.

"[Also, I believe you must take the day off after your 'doctor job' for tomorrow. I believe you got a kid to visit. A little brother. Richard's son.]"

Twilight just hung up the phone with the sound of an agreement as he thought of the little boy with similar blue eyes he rarely got to meet during his childhood.

"Sekinin."

"Yuri! I said I'm alright. And— Okay! Okay!! I won't put you on hold again! Just lessen the tight hug. I thought Yor was the one with the bone-breaking hugs! But seriously, you didn't have to bring a manhunt squad here! To a warehouse of all places!"

"No! A hug like this is required! You have no idea how worried I got when you put me on hold and I thought someone had shot your hand or tased you. Of course, I brought a manhunt here!"

Sekinin still having his suit and mask on was being in a desperate hug by Yuri who was taking every second to ensure Sekinin felt safe while Sekinin had underestimated how Yuri was that overprotective as he couldn't help but recall when he was little it was basically the same.

The fact that Yuri beat up a guy of the same height as him when the guy was picking on Sekinin in the past when he was little obviously was something Yuri would not tolerate. Oh and that his mother Mary would of course punish Yuri for that, yet at the same time be proud of Yuri for protecting his little brother.

Yeah, Sekinin had already acknowledged his family, including the family tree, was already strange enough. But hey it's his family, so in a way he is strange too.
