The trial's climax was to defeat the peak monster, a gigantic tiger-like being with fiery red eyes and plated scales. It stalked a circular arena ringed by walls of thorns, stalking and probing the party's coordination.
Kael stepped forward, sword at hand. "Split it up. Lure it into traps. Rina, use agility. Lyrielle, fire runes. Azrak, shadow flanks. Elira, heal and protect.
Rina rushed ahead, arrow by arrow striking the creature's vulnerable areas. Kael struck and parried, leading the creature into a concealed pit trap.
Lyrielle's spell created a burning circle, pushing the apex beast into the pit. Azrak, with shadows, struck the final blow as it fell.
Elira's defense wards kept the party from sustaining minor injuries.
The top predator toppled. Rina's father stepped forward, eyes proud but firm. "You have demonstrated your prowess, Rina. You may depart Stormclaw Village… but never forget your heritage, your kin, and the jungle that you grew up in."
Rina bowed graciously. "Thank you, Father. I won't."
Kael, Elira, Lyrielle, and Azrak exchanged smiles, recognizing their synergy. Rina's presence fortified the party dynamic.
Internal monologues:
Kael: Her bravery is astounding. She'll be a treasure.
Rina: I've passed the trial, but it's only the start. With these friends, I can become stronger.
Lyrielle: An exceptional fighter, but so young. She'll learn much from us.
Azrak: Enjoyable, disorganized, capable. just the way I like friends.
Elira: She is reckless, but her heart is firm. That means the most.
With the Trial of the Hunt behind them, the party departed Stormclaw Village. The jungle opened to rolling plains, the next adventure calling. Rina's presence added new energy, her knowledge of beasts and wilderness a vital resource.
Kael spoke firmly: "We've grown stronger. We've faced trials, monsters, and now… we're five. Together, nothing can stop us."
Rina grinned, tail flicking. "Let's see what else this world throws at us. I'm ready."
Azrak's shadow blended with the undergrowth, Lyrielle's staff radiating softly, and Elira's healing aura glowed. Thargrim's axe was already a part of their collective heritage.
The jungle receded behind them, but the bond created in the trial would resonate in each future battle.
