Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Searching in the building(2)

Manu entered the first house on the second floor. It was covered with dust and spiderwebs. Everything was the same as the houses on the first floor, but when he entered the room, he found a closet that was barely open.

"At last, we found something in this building. I thought I made a mistake by risking our lives," Manu thought.

He slowly moved toward the closet and opened it. Inside, he saw two clothes hanging: one black blazer and one red shirt, both covered with transparent plastic. Over time, the plastic had turned yellow.

"Sigh... now Srini will be happy to see this," Manu thought.

"Leaving the two clothes, there's nothing else here," Manu thought again and closed the closet door.

As he started to move away, the closet began leaning forward.

"No, if the closet falls and makes a sound, it could alert the evolved animals," Manu thought, quickly stopping it from falling.

He carefully pushed the closet back, then moved to its side and balanced it with the help of stones scattered on the floor.

Manu then left the room, gave one last look at the closet, and stepped out of the house. He entered the second house. Inside, he found a single broken candle, a few metal nails, and an empty glass bottle behind the room door.

He gathered everything and came out of the house, where Srini was standing near the stairs with a smile on his face.

Seeing Manu, Srini said,

"Look here at what I got—a wire, a steel spoon, and most importantly... perfume!" Srini said while smelling the perfume bottle.

"See here, I got two clothes, a broken candle, nails, and a glass bottle," Manu replied.

"The perfume bottle isn't full, I think it was used a few times. But who cares—we'll still make good money from it," Srini said.

They packed everything they had found into their bags and started moving toward the third floor. This time, Srini walked in front. The one who was trembling with fear earlier was now leading the way. Seeing this, Manu gave a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, Srini rushed ahead toward the third floor.

"Manu, come fast! Look what we found this time!" Srini called out.

"Yeah, I'm coming," Manu replied.

On the third floor, many things were scattered around. Most were kept in boxes—three boxes in total. Inside were nails, clothes, some packs, plastic items, and an entire box filled with twelve bottles of alcohol. Another box, which had fallen, was full of wires and a strong steel chain.

"Today is our lucky day, Manu! Look at all this. Can you guess how much we can earn from it? We could live for months with this fortune!" Srini said excitedly.

"No... I think something is wrong," Manu said suddenly.
