Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE:THE GIRLFRIEND CHAPTER

The evening felt endless. I enjoyed every second of it—not just because of the fun at the beach, but because I was with Daniel. The guy I was falling in love with.

"Daniel, let's go home, it's getting late," I said softly.

"Oh, okay. I don't want Aunt Grace getting mad either," he replied, walking me to the car.

The ride home was fast, or maybe it only felt that way because I was lost in thought.

"Here we are," Daniel said, grinning at me.

I blinked, realizing we were already in front of my mansion.

"Daniel, thanks a lot for today. I've never had an experience like this. I'm truly grateful," I said, smiling sincerely.

Then, suddenly, Daniel leaned closer.

My heart raced. What is he doing? Does he want to kiss me? Am I ready for this? My mind was chaos.

I tried to move back, but he didn't stop. His lips touched mine, cool and soft.

OMG!!! My heart screamed.

I pushed him away quickly, fumbling for the door. Without a word, I rushed into the house, my heart pounding.

I had just kissed Daniel. My first kiss. It was strange, scary… and unforgettable.

The Next Morning

Aunt Grace came into my room as usual to wake me up, but to her surprise, I was already dressed and ready for school. I barely slept—I had thought about Daniel all night. About the kiss. About whether I had made a mistake by running away.

"What in the world is going on?" Aunt Grace asked, a knowing smile on her face.

"Good morning, Aunt Grace," I replied, ignoring her question.

"Wow… is this about your date last night? Are you eager to see him at school today? Is that why you woke up so early?" she asked, words tumbling out in excitement.

"Aunt Grace, please…" I groaned, irritated.

Her smile faded. "What's wrong, Kendy?" she asked, concern filling her voice.

"It's nothing. I'm just tired. Probably from yesterday's outing." With that, I walked out of the room.

When I got downstairs, I didn't even glance at the dining table. I had no appetite. I just headed straight to school.

At the gate, I turned to Mr. James. "Don't come pick me up after school."

He frowned. "Why, ma'am?"

"Nothing. I just… need time alone." I forced a smile.

"Young Miss, you know I can't do that. I could lose my job," he pleaded.

"Mr. James, please. Just today. I promise." I gave him my best puppy eyes.

He sighed. "Okay, ma'am. Just today. But please, be safe. If anything happens, call me immediately."

"Thank you so much. And one more thing—don't tell Aunt Grace," I whispered.

"You have my word," he nodded.

I stepped out of the car, my heart heavy.

School was unbearable that day. I couldn't focus, couldn't smile, couldn't even pretend to be interested in class. My mind was a storm, and Daniel was at the center of it.

I wanted to disappear. Just go somewhere where no one could see me.

Then I heard my name.

"Kendra?"

I turned—and froze. It was Daniel.

"What's he doing in my class?" I thought frantically.

"Hi, Daniel," I said with a fake smile.

"Can I see you for a minute?" he asked.

"Okay." I stood up immediately and followed him out.

We walked straight to the cafeteria and sat down, facing each other. Daniel kept staring at me, and I stared back, my mind in chaos—again.

Why do I always feel this way around him?

"Kendy," Daniel began gently, "I'm sorry about what happened last night. I know you feel uneasy about the kiss, but I just want you to know that I care about you. A lot. And…" He paused, searching my eyes. "I'm in love with you."

My heart stopped. Did he just say that? Daniel… in love with me?

"Kendra?" he called softly when he noticed I was zoning out.

"Daniel… are you really sure this is how you feel about me?" I asked nervously.

"Yes, Kendra. I'm sure. Will you be my girlfriend?"

I couldn't hold back. Inside my head, I threw a massive party with fireworks and confetti. My heart screamed louder than my voice.

"YESSS!!! Yes, Daniel! I'll be your girlfriend!" I shouted, almost startling him.

I couldn't believe it. I had left home this morning feeling low, ashamed, and confused because of a kiss. But now? I was officially the girlfriend of the most handsome and intelligent guy at DLF College.

If luck was a person, then I was luck itself.
