Jssmine's POV
The office was quiet… too quiet. It was long past 10 p.m., yet the glass walls of the KnightCorp boardroom still shimmered with the city lights below. Rain streaked against the windows like running ink, distorting the skyline into something surreal.
Ares stood by the end of the long table, sleeves rolled up, jaw tense. A single lamp cast his shadow across the marble floor.
"Everyone's expecting answers tomorrow." he said, voice even but sharp.
I sank into a chair, rubbing my temples. "Then we better find them tonight."
He turned toward me. "You sound calm for someone who just uncovered an illegal archive tied to my family."
"Calm is the only thing keeping me from screaming." I said. My laptop sat open beside me, the faint glow of the decrypted folder still visible. "We can't go public yet. The data's incomplete."
Ares exhaled. "We don't have the luxury of waiting."
"Then we fake confidence." I said. "Like every other CEO in this city."
