We reached the inn by evening, the sun painting the sky in shades of orange and pink as it descended toward the horizon.
The common room was busier now than it had been at breakfast.
We navigated through the crowd and headed upstairs to our room.
The moment I unlocked the door and we stepped inside, Tessa made a beeline for the bed and collapsed onto it with a satisfied sigh, clutching the various items she'd bought throughout the day like precious treasures.
She giggled, rolling onto her back and holding up the wooden fox pendant to catch the lamplight.
I gave her a look.
She tilted her head, still grinning. "What?"
I sighed and moved to set down my bag. "You almost emptied me."
Good thing I edited some of those prices. Otherwise I'd be completely broke right now instead of just nearly broke.
