Mad Dog frantically smashed his twin axes together to call for attention, commanding all the melee soldiers to form a circular defense to protect the people inside.
Lidien's breathing became erratic as he continued to stare at the Alpha.
'It's not time yet... I understand how much you hate that Alpha... but rushing towards it with hundreds of Magical Beasts surrounding it would be suicide...'
Lidien stared at Lily, enduring to maintain his sanity.
As his saliva dripped from his gritting mouth, Lily took a helpless sigh.
There was no need for words to be said; she fully understood what Lidien wanted to do.
"Mad Dog... how much time do we have to wait before we can go home? Attack that mutt blocking our path!"
Mad Dog gulped and tried to reason out but trembled when he noticed Lily's burning gaze.
Helpless, Mad Dog gritted his teeth, a flicker of desperate rage in his eyes. He gripped his twin axes and shouted.
"Archers!" Mad Dog then pointed towards the Alpha on the cliff. "Fire!"
The whizzing of the arrows broke the silence, followed by the howl of the beasts killed by them.
The Alpha watched Lidien's approach, its cold blue eyes narrowing not with fear, but with recognition and contempt. It howled, and the beasts attacked.
Lily watched the battle with amusement, but her main focus was on the teenager rushing towards the endless horde of the Magical Beasts.
Lidien let himself succumb to the burning rage he couldn't fully contain. Though he could think clearly, he didn't know if it was him reliving the pain of the previous owner's body or if it was just him who wanted to see more blood of his enemies.
Now, Lidien was unsure if he had just made the previous owner's emotions his excuse for his killing spree.
Lidien rushed straight towards the Alpha staring down at him; no beasts could stop his fangs and claws.
As he laughed while bathing in the blood of the magical beasts, even the soldiers who saw him, one veteran faltering mid-swing, couldn't tell which was the real monster.
"Attack! Follow the Prince!" Mad Dog roared.
Hundreds of soldiers rushed behind Lidien's lead; swords clashed with claws, humans and beasts cried to survive either from their enemies or just from the powerful being watching them from behind.
No matter how chaotic it was, Lidien and the Alpha didn't stare away from each other.
The Alpha leaped down below; even with its titanic body, it arrived like a ghost and silent.
It walked majestically back and forth, staring with contempt at Lidien.
Soldiers and beasts stopped their fight, as the sound of their panting could be heard, staring intently at the two monsters facing off.
Lidien smirked; he knew what the Alpha wanted to do... a match where he would be the challenger.
'You think I don't know how cunning you are?'
Lidien looked around to search for Mad Dog, and when he met his eyes, he said:
"What are the soldiers standing for? Attack! Wipe them out!"
Lidien laughed hysterically as he saw the Alpha roar in dissatisfaction.
"In the end, you are just a dog..."
The archers once again rained down on the beasts with arrows, while the soldiers slayed the beasts methodically with ease.
As the Alpha lost its composure, it leaped back and howled, commanding the beasts to maintain their formation, but the momentum of the soldiers was not slowing down.
Lidien watched with glee as he saw the Alpha being restless.
'I'll avenge your tribesmen... and behead it like what it did to Kanaz...'
Lidien rushed towards the Alpha, activating his Incite of Blood. Everything seemed to slow down; thanks to his blood supplying oxygen to his brain, he could think more clearly, playing out every possible outcome with his every move attacking the Alpha.
He pounced at the Alpha's eyes so fast that it didn't have the time to dodge, but it wasn't deep enough to penetrate its brain to kill it.
With every possible scenario calculated by Lidien, one thing he hadn't expected happened.
The Alpha was weaker than him.
"How dare this mutt glare at me if it's this weak?"
The Alpha wasn't weak; Moonlit Wolves could be considered one of the most notorious magical beasts in the Bone Orchards, with their ability to use the moon rays for camouflage... they were considered the most deadly beings stalking in the night.
Yet, Lidien was a Hell Stage Demon of Wrath, and the Alpha Moonlit Wolf was only equal to a Middle Stage Rank 1 Magical Beast, making Lidien one stage higher than it.
He licked his bloody claws, as he tasted the flesh of the Alpha.
Blood cascaded from the Alpha's face as its remaining eye stared daggers at Lidien.
With another howl, it used its ability to hide behind the moonlight.
"Not so fast..."
Lidien chased the Alpha; with the help of his Incite of Blood, normal concealing methods couldn't escape his eyes, thanks to its ability to detect blood.
"Don't chase it, Lidien! It's a Trap!" Lily shouted.
Though Lidien heard it, he would not let the chance slip by as he got the opportunity to kill and take revenge for the past Lidien.
Maybe he also wanted to kill it, but some of his reason was to remove the grudge from his new body to fully control it without something like a muscle memory of the previous Lidien.
"Mad Dog! Follow my track after you finish this useless fight; I need to find Lidien..." said Lily, who left immediately without waiting for his response.
The chase continued for half an hour. Though Lidien couldn't fully understand the capacity of his new body, just being a Hell Stage was enough to be on par with Lily's speed. Yet, he still lost the Alpha he was chasing, who was naturally much faster than him.
The scent of the Alpha's blood was a trail only he could follow, iron-rich and pungent with fear, going deeper into the Bone Orchards.
When Lidien heard a splashing of water... and a soft, familiar hum that froze the blood in his veins.
He crouched and proceeded to where the sound was coming from.
In the middle of the lake under the yellow moonlight, a woman, naked, was taking her bath with serenity.
As the woman's side face was illuminated by the moon ray, Lidien's own bloody pale white skin with visible veins... covered his mouth shut.
"K... Ka... Kanaz?"
