Chapter 24 - On One Condition, Parrot

Jace: What do you want, ant brain?

Me: I-I...

Jace: Please, just say what you have to say and stop looking at me like that. You're making me feel like you're stalking me or something.

Me: Hahaha, Jace, what do you think? That you're so handsome I can't stop staring at you?

(Of course it's because he's too handsome that I can't stop staring at him... but I'll pretend otherwise because, hello, I still have my pride, Jace.)

He walks closer.

Too close.

Way too close.

Jace: You sure that's not the case?

Me: Whatever, Jace Ramos.

I sit down on one of the mini couches in his room.

Jace (grabbing a hoodie from his closet): Tss. Okay, tell me what you're doing here?

Me: I heard you're not going to the school trip.

Jace: So what?

Me: I want to go. I want to see Tagaytay.

Jace: And how exactly is that my problem?

(Ugh. This guy is so rude. A real bad boy. He says it so coldly, like he doesn't care at all.)

Me: The problem is... I can't go because my dad refuses to sign the permission slip. But he said if you go, he might say yes.

Jace: Not my business. I said I'm not going, so I'm not going.

Me: Wow, do you think I actually want to see you there? For me to go, you just have to accept, that's all! Don't flatter yourself!

He lies down on his bed.

I'm boiling inside.

This guy is SO annoying.

Jace: Now get out. I wanna sleep. I'm tired.

I suddenly stand up from the mini couch and walk up to him.

Me: Hey, Jace! STOP ACTING LIKE THIS!!! Please, just agree to the trip. Do it for a poor girl who just wants to experience nature in Tagaytay!

He doesn't listen. He closes his eyes. Completely ignores me.

Me: Jace! JACE! JACE! Wait, don't tell me you're sleeping— JACE!!!

I'm so mad. Grrr. I can't stand him anymore.

So I grab his hand and start pulling him to get up.

Me: JACE, GET UP! We're not done talking! JAAACE!!!

I pull and pull... but nothing. This guy weighs a ton.

I keep trying, and then—

The impossible happens: I fall right on top of him.

Jace opens his eyes and stares at me.

My heart races like crazy.

It's about to jump out of my chest.

Huhuhu... Lord, help me.

Jace: Parrot.

Me: J-Jace...

Jace: Mmmh.

Me: Please, just agree to...

Then he puts his finger on my lips.

(Yes, I'm still on top of him. Yes, it's awkward. Very awkward.)

Jace: Shhh, parrot.

Me: But...

Jace: Fine. I'll go.

I quickly get off him.

Me: Talaga? (Really?)

(Yeah, I learned a new Filipino word from hanging out with Jonas. Lol.)

Jace: But on one condition...

Me: Huh? Okay, whatever. What condition?

Jace: You'll owe me a favor... when the time comes.

Me: Ah. Okay. Just one favor, right?

Jace: Mmmh.

Me: Deal.

Two days later...

The school trip is in two days.

My dad finally signed the form because Mr. Jace Ramos is going.

Seriously?

And that "favor"... I really hope that weirdo doesn't abuse it, ugh.

My mom's back from the U.S.! And just like she promised, she sent me a little gift:

a complete teenage jewelry set from Tiffany & Co.

Wow. Absolutely gorgeous.

For the trip, I'm packing early with Mom's help.

Ah, my mom... she packed everything unnecessary in my suitcase — coats, scarves, sunscreen... basically, the perfect combo for a polar expedition.

But whatever...

I'm SO excited to go!
