"...Or we could try hiking," Kayson offered his terrible idea once again.
"...."
"...Alright, maybe I should go ask Professor Trelawney to do a divination for me." Kayson, with a tear-streaked face, was about to leave.
"Come back!"
He heard Grindelwald's voice behind him, showed a 'just as I thought' smile, then quickly reverted to that helpless, 'I want to die' expression and turned around.
"What's wrong?"
"A genuine prophet stands before you, and you plan to go find a half-baked one?" Grindelwald asked, hands behind his back and a frown on his face.
"There's no other way. You, old man, don't want to help, and I can't just hang myself on one tree, can I?"
Kayson shrugged.
"...Give me one day," Grindelwald said after a long silence.
"OK, no problem! I knew your, old man's, prophetic abilities are unparalleled and invincible, absolutely awesome!" Kayson showered him with a rapid-fire string of compliments, then patted his backside and left.
"Oh, and one more thing."
Kayson turned back, a face full of question marks.
"You told him about the spell that flew towards Ariana?"
"Mm, and he asked about it himself."
Grindelwald nodded: "Thank you."
Kayson shrugged, turned around, activated Ender Teleportation, and disappeared from the spot. After returning to his office seat, he began the arduous task of grading assignments.
Evening...
"Aiya!!! Uh... What a thoroughly satisfying session of grading!"
After placing the graded assignments in a corner of his office desk, Kayson remembered Grindelwald's request for him to wait one day.
Although he didn't disbelieve Grindelwald, how did that saying go?
One should always have a backup plan.
Just like his idea from last semester, which remained a mere PPT in his mind.
At the time, he bragged about wanting to create a 3D version of the Hogwarts monitoring map, but later found that the magic needing modification was too complex, and as a lazy person... Mm-hmm.
He was too lazy to do it.
But now he had no choice but to do it, and it wasn't just a simple Hogwarts monitor; what he needed now was a global search map that could help him find plants or minerals hidden in all sorts of corners.
It was certainly much faster than measuring the world with his own two feet.
"Upgrading a magic book can lead to so many tasks... Life is hard," Kayson sighed helplessly as he crafted a massive Scrying Mirror on the Arcane Workstation.
This Scrying Mirror was the core of the search map. For example, if he needed to search for annoying supreme wood, he would only need to tell the search map the term "annoying supreme wood." The core Scrying Mirror of the search map would then search everything in the world, find the corresponding object, and conveniently tell him its coordinates.
Wouldn't that work!
"Let's do it!"
The next day...
"Kayson, I... Wow... What is this?" Grindelwald pushed open the door to Kayson's office and saw that this already enormous office... had become even larger.
Or to exaggerate, if the original office was as big as the Black Lake, then at this moment, the office was as big as the Forbidden Forest.
Perhaps it was a bit of an exaggeration, but it was truly no wonder Grindelwald exclaimed like that.
Before his eyes stood a colossal device, impossibly huge, densely packed with all sorts of redstone contraptions. Almost every movement involved the concerted effort of tens of thousands of mechanical pistons and levers.
He couldn't even see the end of this massive creation, only a swirling purple circular mirror in the very center of the machine.
"What is this?" Grindelwald asked.
Kayson, who had been lounging on the ground, struggled to sit up from the floor: "This is something I made. It can find anything in this world."
"Can it find people?" Dumbledore appeared in the office at some point, looking up at the huge machine before him as he asked.
"How did you get here?" Kayson asked, scratching his head in confusion.
"Just woke up this morning, not much energy, thought I'd come here for an ice boat meeting, and then I saw this... So, can it find people?" Dumbledore said.
"Logically speaking, it should be able to," Kayson said, stroking his chin.
Dumbledore nodded: "Try Sirius, Sirius Black."
As Dumbledore's words fell, Grindelwald, standing beside him, showed a wry smile.
Meanwhile, Kayson nodded and at a massive control panel, buttons and levers were densely arranged.
Each button represented a letter. After he entered "Sirius Black," the huge machine quickly found the targets, but there were two.
One "Sirius" pointed to the star Sirius A in the sky, while "Black" pointed to places without light at all times.
Kayson slapped his forehead: "I forgot! The core of this machine uses a Scrying Mirror as its core; it can only search for terms, not directly for names."
Dumbledore nodded in understanding: "But at least it can make this big guy a little smaller, right?"
"This is already the scaled-down version, what do you think?" Kayson said somewhat helplessly.
"I truly cannot imagine its grandeur," Dumbledore marveled, though his gaze, while marveling, was not on the huge machine, but on Kayson.
"I also cannot imagine how... please forgive me, I can't think of a word to describe your Alchemy." Dumbledore smiled and shifted his gaze away from Kayson, looking instead at the huge machine.
"Of course I know what you mean." Kayson accepted the compliment very naturally. He then looked at Grindelwald: "Do you have the results?"
"You can try your luck in Hoyabaca," Grindelwald said before leaving the office. Seeing this, Dumbledore merely shrugged and walked over to Kayson: "You probably don't need his answer anymore, do you?"
"That old man brainstormed all night for my request; I can't just say I don't need it anymore, can I? When it comes to serious matters, my emotional intelligence is still very high," Kayson said proudly, hands on his hips.
