Chapter 25 - Teacher

It was impossible not to be thrilled after acquiring such a blade. Lucien drew the meteorite knife and gave it a light swing against a tree. Instantly, a massive trunk split cleanly in two. Its sharpness was beyond compare.

If this weapon were paired with the right sword techniques, it would be a nightmare for any enemy. Truly, it was a terrifying killing tool.

"Don't get carried away…" Lucien shook the thought aside. What mattered now was returning to Konoha. He was already missing his younger sister, Xiaoxing.

After bidding farewell to the bearded Noguchi, Lucien and his companions set off for Konoha. This time the journey was far less perilous than before. No enemies appeared, yet no one grew complacent. Each of them worked hard to improve their strength along the road.

Kusuo and Akai Chou had already advanced their chakra control to the point where they could walk freely on water. In less than half a month, that was a big achievement. Still, compared to Lucien, they felt there was a long way to go.

While his friends practiced chakra control, Lucien devoted his precious travel time to honing his ninjutsu. He also began training with the meteoric blade. With Byakugan, he envisioned one day pinpointing an enemy's vital spot instantly—and then striking precise, devastating blows.

But that dream required more. It demanded mastery of techniques like Body Flicker, or even the Flying Thunder God. A personal sword style. The combination of Byakugan's lock-on vision with unparalleled speed and blade control would be unstoppable. The thought alone was frightening.

For now, however, swordsmanship could wait. His priority was reaching the third stage of the Rasengan.

Every day, Lucien practiced with shadow clones. He had already progressed to the point of bursting rubber balls using only his chakra. Now he needed to go a step further—create a small storm in his palm.

"Focus… focus… focus… Start!"

He whispered to himself as he concentrated, coaxing the chakra into steady rotations.

"Good! That's it... steady rotation..." Lucien urged himself. With each breath, the chakra sphere became firmer, larger, denser. By the time it expanded to fill his palm, a wave of exhilaration swept through him. That compressed energy was monstrous.

"It worked!" With a shout of joy, he charged at a nearby trunk. "Rasengan!!"

The spinning sphere struck home. Instantly, the wood warped into a spiral dent as cracks spread like lightning. The tree groaned under the stress, leaves raining down as though the ground itself trembled.

"Haah!" With one final push, Lucien toppled the giant trunk. It hit the ground with a thunderous crash, scattering startled birds into the sky.

Panting, exhilarated, he tried again—and succeeded. The brilliant blue orb formed once more.

"Again… success!"

Dozens more attempts followed, until he had etched the feeling into memory.

"I've done it!" Lucien's grin was ecstatic. "I've basically mastered Rasengan. Now it's just refining the stability and unleashing it in combat."

The A-rank ninjutsu required no hand seals, its sheer power needing only raw chakra manipulation. And beyond it lay an even greater path—techniques like the Wind Style Rasenshuriken, an S-rank art born from infusing Rasengan with elemental chakra.

This is only the beginning...

By the time they neared Konoha, Lucien could summon Rasengan effortlessly. Unlike Naruto, who once needed clones to form it, Lucien could forge the orb with a single hand. Its practical use in combat was leagues above.

"Now that I've grasped the key, it seems Rasengan isn't so hard after all," he thought, trying to expand it into a larger version—until Hizashi called out.

"Lucien... come here a moment."

"Understood." Lucien stepped closer.

"If I'm not mistaken," Hizashi began, narrowing his eyes, "your bloodline limit… you've awakened your eyes, haven't you?"

Lucien stiffened. "Teacher, why do you say that?"

Through his calm smile, Hizashi continued, "There's no need to conceal it. I can see chakra flowing through your eyes with my Byakugan. You've been hiding your strength, haven't you? Waiting to surprise your enemies?"

He chuckled. "Next time, don't waste effort shrouding it with Mist. I'll be able to see you either way."

Lucien exhaled softly. Hizashi assumed he possessed the Sharingan—and had not realized the existence of his Byakugan.

"I don't know much about the Sharingan," Hizashi went on thoughtfully. "But I do know the three-tomoe form can copy ninjutsu. Considering how many techniques you've learned, that makes sense."

Lucien stood frozen.

"Don't tell me you even copied Gentle Fist?" Hizashi teased.

Lucien's face twitched, but Hizashi quickly shook his head. "Relax, I'm jesting. The Hyuga's Gentle Fist is an inherited secret. Its true might lies in combination with Byakugan."

His tone softened. "What matters is that you've got potential. I don't fully understand your eyes, otherwise I'd guide you better. Bloodline powers are tricky. But copying techniques will never be a weakness."

A smile touched his lips. "If you wish, I can show you authentic Hyuga taijutsu. Just don't let the rest of the clan know. If they find out… well, I won't be able to protect you."

Lucien's chest tightened at his teacher's trust. Hizashi hadn't scolded or rejected him—he was offering to secretly teach him the clan's art, even at personal risk.

A wave of emotion surged through him. Teacher Hizashi…! In every way, you outshine Hiashi a hundred times over. I won't let you die like in the future I know. I'll change it.

Clenching his fists, Lucien swore silently to himself.
