Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 – The Prison of Despair, The Brother’s Embrace

Su Long looked at Su Feng, his voice trembling as he asked,

"Do you know where Mimi is?"

Su Feng lowered his head, guilt in his eyes. "Young Master, I know… she's in the last prison room. Locked away. I don't know how she is now. I wanted to rescue her, but Su Shan captured me first. My plan failed. Young Master, I am sorry."

Su Long shook his head firmly. "This is not your fault. This situation… even I couldn't do anything at that time. Come forward—we are going to save my sister."

The group rushed toward the prison.

Meanwhile, in the dark and filthy room, a tiny girl lay curled on the ground. Her soft, chubby face was marred with dirt on one side, the other swollen from countless slaps. Her little arms and legs were bruised and trembling from the cruel kicks she had endured.

Her small lips quivered as she murmured faintly, "Hun… gry…" She touched her stomach with her tiny hands, rubbing it weakly. "Food…"

Her eyes were shut tightly, but tears slipped down, one after another. Her voice cracked like fragile glass.

"Mother… Father… Bwother… don't leave Mimi… Am I a bad girl? I won't be naughty anymore… I will be obedient… Bwother… why… bwother why you don't come to save me?"

Her voice was fading, as if drifting away with despair.

Just then, the prison door creaked open. Su Qiang, a guard, walked in with an evil smile plastered on his face. He looked at the tiny girl and, without hesitation, kicked her fragile body.

He had no idea that almost everyone who betrayed the Su Family had already been slaughtered by Su Long. His own death was waiting at the door, yet he dared to torment the innocent.

"Bastard, are you dead yet? Wake up, you wild child!" Su Qiang sneered, landing another cruel kick. "If you die now, we won't get the reward. Your death day isn't today—you have to suffer one more day!"

"A-ahhh… it hurts… hurts… don't beat me, uncle… I will be… obediant…" The little girl covered her face with both of her tiny hands, her tears dripping down. Her trembling voice broke hearts, but the guard only grew more excited.

"Heh, I don't know why, but it feels so good to beat this little bastard," Su Qiang chuckled darkly. "She was supposed to be the young miss of the Su Family… now just a stray wild child."

He turned to leave, satisfied with her cries, when a faint voice called out.

"U… uncle… can you give me food? I'm hungry… I didn't eat for so long… my tummy hurts…"

Su Qiang turned back and snarled, "Food? For a sacrifice like you? Bastard, don't waste food. Shut up and wait for death!"

The girl shrank back in fright, covering her little face again.

Su Qiang stepped out of the prison with a wicked grin, muttering, "Heh, she's still alive. I'll report to Su Shan—"

But when he turned, his words froze in his throat.

Standing there was Su Long, with Su Feng and two servant girls beside him.

"You…" Su Qiang's face twisted in rage. "How dare you enter the prison without permission?!"

Su Long's eyes turned crimson with killing intent. In a flash, his hand gripped Su Qiang's throat like an iron claw.

"Permission?" Su Long's voice was cold as ice. "I am the young master of the Su Family. Do I need permission to save my sister?"

Su Qiang tried to shout, but Su Long slammed a hand over his mouth. "This… is for torturing my sister. Now die!"

With terrifying strength, Su Long ripped his body apart. Su Qiang's eyes bulged with horror, his tears falling as he struggled in vain. Finally, he died in despair.

The servant girls, Su Rui and Su Lan, vomited at the gruesome sight.

Su Long's voice was steady. "Su Feng, clean this up."

Then, with trembling hands, he pushed open the prison door. His body shook, not from fear of enemies, but from fear of what he might see.

When his gaze fell on the little girl lying on the filthy ground, his heart shattered.

Her tiny body was covered in dirt and bruises. Her little face was swollen red, almost as if blood could seep out at any moment. She looked so fragile, so pitiful, that tears welled in Su Long's eyes and fell to the ground.

Rushing forward, he scooped her into his arms.

"Mimi! Look, I came for you! Wake up, please, I beg you!" His voice cracked as he cried.

The girl's eyes fluttered open slightly, her vision blurry. She reached out her tiny hand and touched Su Long's cheek.

"Are… are you my bwother?"

Su Long nodded quickly, his tears streaming down.

When her vision cleared, her red, teary eyes filled with sorrow. "Bwother… I thought you left Mimi… I thought you didn't come to save me…" Her voice trembled as she hiccupped.

"That uncle… he said… I am wild child… I am bastard… bwother, I am not wild… I am not bastard… I… I didn't do anything wrong…" She sobbed, her little body shaking. "He said because of me… mother died… and now everyone will die… Am I so bad? But… I didn't do anything wrong… Why… why did he say that? Why did he beat me? Why… bwother, why you hate Mimi too?"

Her words pierced Su Long's heart like a thousand blades. His tears fell onto her swollen cheeks as he desperately hugged her.

Suddenly, her tiny body went limp. Her eyes closed, unresponsive.

"Mimi? Mimi! Wake up!" Su Long panicked, his heart skipping a beat. He turned to Su Rui. "Go! Get food, quick! She's starving!"

Su Rui ran toward the kitchen. Su Long carried Mimi in his arms and rushed to his room.

He gently laid her on his bed. Soon, Su Rui returned with only a piece of bread.

"Young Master, there was no food ready. It will take time. For now, I brought bread."

Su Long broke the bread into tiny pieces, feeding her slowly. She chewed weakly, her eyes half closed.

"Hun… gry… more…" she whispered faintly.

Piece by piece, he fed her until the bread was gone. Slowly, her cheeks gained a little color. She blinked, looking around at the soft bed, her stomach no longer aching.

Her teary eyes turned to Su Long. With her tiny fingers, she clutched his hand tightly.

"Bwother… don't go… don't leave Mimi again…"

Su Long wiped his tears and whispered, "I will never leave you again."

Mimi sobbed softly. "Uncle said… bwother doesn't love me anymore… I thought you forgot me…"

Su Long hugged her, voice firm despite his tears. "No one can take you from me. I will always protect you."

"Bwother… I'm sleepy… but… I don't want to sleep… You will leave me again…"

Placing his hand gently on her forehead, Su Long whispered, "Sleep, Mimi. I'll stay right here. I won't go anywhere."

Her tiny pinky finger lifted shakily. "Pwomise?"

Su Long hooked his pinky with hers, his eyes red. "Promise."

Feeling safe at last, Mimi let out a soft sigh and drifted into sleep in his embrace.
