Chapter 109 - HISD Chapter 109 Becoming Doomsday Superman

HISD Chapter 109 Becoming Doomsday Superman

Downstairs, the gala at the Natural History Museum was in full swing—laughter, music, and dance filling the grand hall.

Upstairs, in the silence of the director's office, a creature that could make any human tremble with fear stood calmly.

Yi Meng, in his ancient Doomsday form, opened the case and took out the artifact within—a crystal stone, amber-like, gleaming under the light.

Pinching it delicately between two bone-spurred fingers, his scarlet eyes glowed as a monstrous grin spread across his face.

The aura was unmistakable. An artifact left behind by the Old Gods.

It was the very same wishing stone that had appeared in the Wonder Woman film, a relic capable of granting any wish. It had birthed the supervillain Cheetah and nearly brought DC Earth to destruction.

The wishing stone had once demonstrated frightening power—resurrecting the dead, reshaping destiny—while secretly exacting an equivalent price from the wisher.

It was, without doubt, a cunning trap laid by the Old Gods.

"Interesting."

Yi Meng's skeletal visage twisted into a grin as he spoke without fear:

"I wish… to become Doomsday Superman."

…

Earlier that day, Diana had sensed something off with the director and kept a close watch on him during the gala.

She soon noticed him moving the crystal she had been researching into the supposedly empty director's office.

"What is he doing? And that mysterious guest he mentioned…"

Her unease grew. Especially since the crystal already radiated the ominous presence of the Old Gods. She had planned to study it in depth in the coming days, but now, something had clearly gone wrong.

"No. That crystal may be dangerous. I can't let anyone else touch it."

When the director left and locked the door, Diana headed straight for the office.

She opened the door without hesitation—then froze.

Someone was already inside.

Her eyes widened in shock as she took in the sight.

Beneath the harsh light, beside the desk, stood a silver-haired young man of Eastern features. His sharp, sculpted face was almost unnaturally handsome, his tall frame clad in a strange dark battle suit that perfectly outlined his flawless proportions and powerful build.

This was… a nearly perfect man.

Even as a demigoddess who had lived among mortals for decades, Diana could not help but think it. Humans were always imperfect. But this man radiated an impossible perfection—both in looks and presence.

In his right hand, he held the crystal. When he heard the door open, he turned toward her, and his eyes—sharp yet gentle, like starlight and steel at once—struck her with a strange sense of familiarity.

"Of course. If this artifact is here, then you must be here too."

His voice was calm, warm, and resonant with a magnetic undertone.

Diana scanned the room—only him. She frowned. "Who are you? Why are you trespassing in the director's office?"

"You're the one trespassing, my lady."

The silver-haired man smirked. "My name is Yi Meng."

Her eyes narrowed. "Yi Meng… the reclusive tycoon who invested in this museum three years ago?"

He did not answer, only smiled.

For once, Diana felt embarrassed. The museum practically belonged to him, and he had clearly arranged this with the director. She was the intruder here.

"I'm Diana, one of the museum's staff. I apologize. Whatever I must do to make amends, I will."

Graceful as ever, she stepped forward and reached for the crystal. "But this artifact may emit dangerous radiation. For your safety, it must be secured by experts."

His hand shot out, gripping her slender wrist with terrifying precision.

"I refuse," Yi Meng said softly, his eyes flickering with barely contained crimson rage. "I didn't expect you to walk right into my hands. Perfect timing."

Diana's composure shattered.

His grip was like iron, unyielding. This was no ordinary man—not even human. For the first time in years, she felt like prey trespassing in a predator's domain.

She braced herself to transform into Wonder Woman—when footsteps sounded outside.

"What is this…?"

The director appeared at the doorway, staring in confusion at the seemingly intimate pose between Yi Meng and Diana.

Before she could warn him, Yi Meng spoke first. "Director, I was entrusted to retrieve the crystal. I happened to meet this lady and invited her for a dance at the gala."

"Ah, I see." The director chuckled knowingly. "Then hurry along. The dancing is about to begin. And give my regards to Mr. Yi Meng."

Yi Meng smiled faintly. "Diana, you wouldn't want us to ruin this place, would you? Let's go."

Still holding her wrist and the crystal, he walked forward without a trace of guilt.

Diana ground her teeth, fury simmering, but under the director's gaze she could only follow, descending toward the gala below.

…

In the grand hall, under dreamy lights and soft music, couples danced elegantly.

Diana was already one of the most admired figures present, and many had hoped to partner with her. But as she descended, she was already hand-in-hand with a man.

The guests' eyes turned, then froze in surprise.

Despite his strange attire, Yi Meng's beauty, physique, and aura rivaled hers perfectly. It was as if only Diana could stand beside him without being overshadowed.

Diana wanted to drag him outside for a fight. But instead, Yi Meng stopped in the middle of the hall and—still holding her hand—began to dance.

Conscious of the many eyes watching, Diana matched his steps with practiced grace, though her gaze grew colder with each movement. She whispered low enough for only him to hear:

"I will kill you."

"Please do," Yi Meng replied warmly, though the red light in his eyes nearly broke free. He clenched the crystal tighter, as though suppressing a storm of destruction within him.

A dance before the battle.

Hand in hand, sharing the same crystal, they moved in perfect sync.

"Who is that…?"

From the far side of the hall, Barbara—dressed in a tight gown, radiant and alluring—pressed a hand to her chest as she stared at the silver-haired man dancing with Diana.

Her instincts, sharp as a hunting cat's, screamed at her. This man was extremely dangerous. And she… she was merely prey.
