Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Problems with House Buying and Renovation

Following the direction Cana had divined, everyone headed east, towards the edge of the forest, near the riverbank, to search. With a specific direction, inquiries were indeed quick, and before long, they arrived in front of an elderly woman with silver hair.

Though the elderly woman had a full head of silver hair, her body was incredibly strong; her eyes and ears were sharp, and she could walk several miles without resting. After learning their purpose, she invited them inside and took them to see the house.

It was a two-story house. Upon entering, the first thing they saw were the dark yellow, extremely old-looking walls, and the historically weathered furniture placed in the living room on the first floor. At the very end of the living room, in the center, was a staircase leading directly to the second floor. According to her introduction, the first floor mainly consisted of the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, while the second floor was entirely bedrooms. Besides these, there was also a basement that could be used for storing miscellaneous items, and of course, it was also a good choice for a wine cellar.

"This old house of mine was built when my husband and I got married. It's been almost forty years now. Originally, I planned to stay here my whole life, and when I died, I would go accompany my old man. Who would have thought my grandson made money in the capital and insisted on taking me there? From now on, besides coming back to accompany my old man, I won't be able to live here again, so I might as well sell this old house and be done with it." Speaking of this, the elderly woman shook her head and sighed, her expression revealing deep reluctance.

As she babbled and introduced each room to everyone, soon, the entire house was thoroughly inspected, inside and out.

To be honest, Statiw was very satisfied with this house. Although it was quite old, the materials used back then were excellent, and no problems had arisen to this day. Moreover, because it was an old house, the price was also very cheap. The entire house, including a sizable independent courtyard outside, cost only a little over one million. However, because it was sold along with a large plot of farmland by the lake, Statiw ultimately spent four million to buy the house.

A few days quickly passed, and finally, it was time for him to officially move. During these days, Mirajane was the most enthusiastic about Statiw's move. Knowing that he was finally going to officially move, she followed him without a second thought. Besides her, Elfman, Gray, Cana, and Levy, as Statiw's good friends, were no exception. They even specifically set aside this day to help.

Mirajane and Elfman both came, so Lisanna, as their younger sister, naturally wouldn't be left out. Then, Natsu and Happy, who played with Lisanna all day, also came. Not only them, Erza, who saw Mirajane as her rival, would certainly not fall behind and followed along as soon as she did.

However, Statiw didn't have many things to move, just some clothes and small items. As for furniture and such, Mirajane had already decided these past few days to simply buy them directly from a furniture store. Moreover, Statiw and the others wouldn't need to move this furniture themselves; the store had people who would deliver it directly to their door.

Although the delivery people were ordinary, don't forget how widespread magic was in this world. So, don't think they would be tired just because they were ordinary people; in fact, as long as they wore power gloves, even objects weighing several tons could be easily lifted over their heads, one in each hand, and transported anywhere.

After buying the furniture, everyone started discussing the house's renovation. Everyone had their own ideas on this matter. Natsu was the first to speak: "I think the house should be painted red, like flames, so it feels warmer when people look at it. Right, Happy?"

"Aye~, I think it would look even better with some fish painted on it." Happy raised his paw, his mouth watering uncontrollably.

After Happy made his unreliable suggestion, Erza immediately followed, saying, "I believe the rooms should be filled with weapons and armor, so people feel safer. And when needed, they can be easily grabbed."

"How could that make anyone feel safe?" Mirajane immediately refuted after Erza spoke: "The house should be painted pink, so it looks cozier, and then the rooms should be filled with flowers and dolls..."

Just as she was about to continue, she suddenly noticed everyone around her looking at her with strange eyes, which made her feel a little bewildered. Just as she was about to get angry, Lisanna immediately stepped in to mediate, saying, "Sister, that decor is too girlish. Big Brother Statiw is a boy. I actually think painting the house green would make people feel more vibrant and alive. Big Brother Elfman, what do you think?"

"Me?" Elfman scratched his head and said, "I think blue would be better; it makes people feel peaceful."

"That's right, I also think blue is better." Gray, next to Elfman, agreed.

"What did you say, Gray?" Natsu immediately roared when he heard him speak: "Red is the best!"

"The best my foot, blue is the most suitable!" Gray also didn't show weakness, immediately butting heads with Natsu.

"You two..." Erza didn't even look, directly punching both of them on the head, knocking them to the ground.

"Cana, what do you think?" Seeing the interaction between the three, Levy turned to Cana with a wry smile and asked.

"I didn't think that much; I just think it would be fine to paint the walls white, like a normal house." Cana tilted her head, thought for a moment, and said.

"How can that be? Red is still better; red makes people feel warmer." Natsu immediately jumped up and denied it.

"And it should be filled with weapons and armor, so it feels safer." Erza immediately added.

"I say, do you two really think that's good? Imagine a completely red room filled with various weapons and armor. Compared to warmth and safety, doesn't it feel more like a slaughterhouse?" Statiw couldn't help but complain, seeing that they still wouldn't give up.

"Is that so? Then let's not put weapons and armor." Natsu didn't even think, directly rejecting Erza's suggestion.

"If you put it that way, it's indeed not very good, so let's not paint the house red." While Natsu was speaking, Erza also made a serious expression and suggested.

"Aye~, I think it's better to paint various fish on the walls." Happy also didn't show weakness at this moment, flying to the center of the crowd with his paws raised, insisting on his suggestion.

"Alright, alright, you don't need to discuss it anymore; I've decided to go with my own idea." Seeing Erza, Natsu, and Happy showing signs of arguing, Statiw immediately stopped them.

"Huh? Your own idea?" Mirajane asked curiously: "Can you tell us what your idea is?"

"It's simple, I don't plan to make too many changes, just paint the walls white. As for other aspects, I'll slowly consider them later." Statiw thought for a moment and said: "Also, maybe I'll tear down this old house and build a new one later, who knows."

"Remember to paint the walls red then." As soon as he finished speaking, Natsu immediately interjected.

Then Erza also said: "And fill it with various weapons and equipment."

"And paint various fish on the walls." Happy once again began to assert his presence in front of everyone.

"I say, how obsessed are you three with these things?" Statiw couldn't help but complain again.
