The street went quiet.
Logan Lee's grin stretched wide as his heavy boots echoed against the pavement. His eyes locked only on Daniel's ugly body.
Daniel froze, heart pounding in his chest. His lips barely formed the word:
"…Logan."
The grin sharpened. "Still pathetic." Logan's voice dripped with venom. "Don't think I'm done with you, loser."
His massive hand shot forward, seizing Daniel by the collar. Daniel yelped, feet scraping against the concrete as Logan hauled him up like dead weight.
"You thought you could escape me, fatty? Thought you could run off and live some happy little school life?" Logan sneered, shaking him. "Wrong. You'll always be nothing."
"Let him go."
The voice was sharp, furious.
Logan glanced sideways. Vasco stood there, fists clenched, eyes blazing with righteous anger.
Daniel's chest tightened. "Vasco—"
"Don't touch my friend," Vasco said.
Logan blinked, then barked a laugh. "Friend? This?" He shoved Daniel back, making him stumble to the ground. "This fat lump of trash?"
Vasco stepped forward, standing between Logan and Daniel. His presence was like a wall.
"Yeah," Vasco said simply. "He's my friend. And I don't care who you are—you won't lay a finger on him."
Logan's grin widened, showing teeth. "Cute. Real cute." He cracked his knuckles. "Fine. I'll break you first."
The fight began.
Vasco lunged, fist swinging with the full force of his broad frame.
Logan raised his arm and caught it. The shock rippled down the street, but Logan didn't even flinch. His grin never faded.
"Strong," he admitted, twisting his wrist. "But slow."
Thud!
His knee slammed into Vasco's gut. The air burst from Vasco's lungs as he staggered back, choking.
But Vasco didn't fall.
He spat blood onto the ground and surged forward again, fists flying.
Logan ducked one, blocked another, and slammed his elbow into Vasco's jaw.
Crack!
The sound echoed. Students gasped, pulling back.
"Is that Vasco?" one whispered."He's… losing?" another stammered."Who the hell is that guy? He's a monster!"
But Vasco's head snapped back into place almost instantly. His fists kept swinging.
"Dumb bastard," Logan muttered, catching Vasco by the hair and slamming his forehead down. Thud!
Blood splattered the ground. Vasco staggered, vision spinning—
And still, he charged.
Daniel's ugly body crouched against the wall, trembling. He wanted to scream for Vasco to stop, but his voice caught in his throat.
He's fighting because of me. And I can't do anything. Not like this.
Logan's fist crashed against Vasco's ribs. The crack of bone carried through the street. Vasco gagged, but his fist still drove into Logan's chest, forcing him back a step.
Logan chuckled, rubbing his chest. "Not bad."
Then he moved.
Faster than before.
His fist slammed into Vasco's chin, snapping his head back. Another smashed into his gut, folding him over. A knee rose into his chest, lifting him off his feet before he crashed back down.
Students screamed, scattering to the edges of the street.
"Vasco's one of the strongest in J High, right?!""Then why's he—why's he losing so badly?!""Who IS that guy?!"
Vasco staggered upright, blood dripping from his nose and mouth. His fists trembled, but his eyes burned with fire.
"I don't care how strong you are," he growled. "I protect my friends."
He lunged again, fists flying like wild hammers.
Logan blocked, countered, slammed. Every blow Vasco landed, Logan returned harder. Every strike Vasco threw, Logan twisted it aside.
The street shook with the weight of their fight.
But slowly—painfully—Vasco's movements dulled. His breaths grew ragged. His arms hung heavier with each swing.
Logan grinned wider, like a predator savoring the kill.
"You've got guts," he admitted, ducking under a wild hook. "But guts won't save you."
His fist buried into Vasco's stomach, so deep it lifted him off his feet.
Wham!
Vasco collapsed to his knees, coughing blood.
Logan grabbed his collar and slammed him face-first into the pavement.
Crack!
The concrete fractured. Students screamed again.
For a moment, silence.
Then Vasco groaned.
He pushed his palms against the broken ground, lifting himself slowly. Blood dripped from his nose, his lip, his chin. His arms shook violently.
But he stood.
Barely.
Logan's grin faltered. Just for a second.
"…You don't know when to quit."
Vasco staggered forward, fists trembling but still clenched. "I… don't stop. Not when it's for my friends."
His punch was slow, weak. Logan batted it aside.
His counter was merciless.
One final hook slammed into Vasco's temple, sending him crashing down. This time, he didn't rise.
The street was silent. Students stared, horrified.
"Vasco's… defeated?" someone whispered."No way… even teachers couldn't stop him…""That guy… he's not human."
Daniel's heart pounded. His friend lay broken on the ground, beaten bloody because of him.
Logan stood over Vasco's fallen body, breathing steady, his grin returning.
He glanced down at Vasco once, his voice dripping with contempt.
"One of J High's strongest? Pathetic."
Then his eyes slid back to Daniel's ugly form.
"You thought you could escape me, fatty?" he said, stepping forward. His shadow loomed. "You thought you could hide?"
Daniel scrambled back, his chest heaving, eyes wide with terror.
If I had any strength… Vasco wouldn't be bleeding for me right now. I can't keep being this useless.
Logan reached down, his grin cruel.
His hand closed around Daniel's throat.
"Round two starts now."
