Chapter 46 - Chapter 41– Ripple...

The streets of Gangseo were quiet again, but the silence didn't erase the chaos that had unfolded. Fists and blood had painted the night; conviction and loyalty had left their marks deeper than bruises.

Crystal Choi watched from her balcony long after the combatants had gone. Vasco and Burn Knuckles had limped away with their pride intact, Jake Kim had vanished into the veins of Gangseo, and yet the echoes lingered in the alleys.

But she wasn't watching them.

She had seen the faint silhouette on the rooftop, those violet eyes dissecting every clash with surgical calm. Seong Min hadn't thrown a single punch, yet his presence had pressed on the fight like a shadow the combatants never noticed.

That's who he is. Always watching, always collecting. He doesn't fight battles; he learns them.

Crystal's nails tapped against the rail as her lips curved faintly.

By morning, the story would already twist. Burn Knuckles wouldn't talk about their bruises; they'd talk about Vasco standing unbroken against Big Deal. Students at J High would whisper that Vasco's fists could shake a Major Crew. And woven through the rumor mill, always—Seong Min's name, hovering just outside the spotlight, adding weight where it mattered.

That's how ripples spread. One brawl becomes a legend. One name becomes a question on everyone's tongue.

Her phone buzzed.

Crystal didn't need to see the screen. Only one person ever called her at this hour.

She answered, voice carefully steady. "Dad."

On the other end, Charles Choi's tone was calm, deliberate—sharp enough to slice through the night.

"You've been watching."

Crystal's eyes flicked once toward the rooftop, though it was empty now. "Of course."

"And?"

"He stayed out of the fight. Just observed. Typical." Her voice held the faintest edge, as though amused. "But he read every move. He's learning faster than anyone realizes."

A pause. The sound of Charles's faint exhale traveled across the line. "Good. That means he's ready."

Crystal's brow furrowed slightly. "Ready for what?"

There was a cold chuckle, short and precise. "For the fangs."

The word lingered like frost in the air.

Crystal's grip on the phone tightened. "You mean—"

"Yes," Charles cut in, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "The King is coming. A trial, one last filter before White Tiger accepts him. If Seong Min survives, he steps forward. If he dies… then he was never worthy."

Crystal's heartbeat quickened despite herself. A First Generation King—those words were heavy even for her. Legends of monsters who stood above the rest, untouchable titans forged in an era when fighting wasn't about fame or money, but survival.

And one of them was being sent to test Seong Min.

"Dad…" she began carefully, "isn't it too soon?"

"No." Charles's voice cut like a blade. "The ripples are spreading faster than expected. Vasco's clash with Big Deal, Jake Kim's appearance—every crew in Seoul will start stirring. If Seong Min is to play on my board, he cannot linger in shallow waters."

Crystal's lips pressed into a thin line. She had grown up in her father's shadow, and she knew this tone. When Charles made a decision, it wasn't to be questioned—it was to be carried out.

Still, her thoughts betrayed her composure.

A First Gen King… Seong Min, do you even understand what's coming for you?

She ended the call, sliding the phone back into her pocket. Her gaze lingered on the rooftop one last time, even though she knew he was gone.

Down below, the neon haze flickered over cracked pavement. Vasco's loyalty, Jake's honor, Burn Knuckles' bruised determination—they had all left their mark. But in the grand game, they were only pieces stirring the water.

The real storm hadn't arrived yet.

Crystal turned from the balcony, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Her mask of composure never slipped, but her mind replayed her father's words again and again.

The King is coming.

And when he does… the ripples Seong Min had set in motion would either become waves—or drown him entirely.
