Chapter 78 - Chapter 82

Lucy, who do you think is stronger, Mirajane or Erza~?

The buzz of the conversation got Natsu all fired up, flames bursting around him. "A fight?! Count me in!!"

Gray shoved his way forward, frost swirling around his hands. "If Natsu's going, I'm in too! No way I'm letting him get stronger alone!"

Erza and Mirajane both turned to Roger, waiting for his call.

Roger, thinking about the plan ahead, let a subtle smirk tug at his lips before giving a slight nod. "Alright, let's all go. More people, easier to handle things."

Plus, a bigger group makes "Lullaby" look even more intimidating.

Mirajane chimed in with a bright smile. "Why don't we bring Lucy along too? With so many of us taking on a dark guild, it's the perfect chance for her to get some experience and get a feel for these kinds of missions."

"Huh?!" Lucy, who was happily munching on a small piece of shark-lion meat, froze mid-bite, pointing at herself in disbelief. "W-Wait, how'd I get dragged into this?!"

Erza, recalling how she almost accidentally hurt Lucy earlier, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, there's strength in numbers. It'll be safer for Lucy to come along, and she can get some practice in."

Roger glanced at Lucy, who looked utterly horrified. "Lucy, you in or not?"

Lucy's face scrunched up as her mind raced.

Forget Natsu and Gray for a second—any enemy that needs Roger and Erza to take down has to be insanely strong! Sure, Erza's terrifying, but as a teammate, she's super reliable. And with Roger there, I probably won't be in any real danger. Heck, I might even take out a few enemies caught in the crossfire of their fights! If I can rack up a few wins, my magic power's gonna shoot up like crazy! Rent, weekly magazines, new clothes—they're all within reach!

Her eyes sparkled, practically turning into glowing "J" shapes. She shot her hand up, practically bouncing with excitement, afraid they'd change their minds. "I'm in!! Please, take me with you!!!"

On the way to the station, Roger used his "Telepathy" magic to mentally relay the rough plan and info about "Lullaby" to everyone.

As they boarded the train, Roger's fingers twitched almost imperceptibly, casting an invisible illusion barrier around their group, shielding them from prying eyes and ears.

Natsu collapsed onto a nearby seat, eyes lifeless, weakly raising a hand as he groaned, "Roger, help… ugh, save me~"

Gray crossed his arms, smirking. "Still so pathetic. You know you get motion sickness, yet you insisted on coming."

"Shut… ugh… up!!" Natsu retorted, his voice feeble but defiant.

A purple magic circle appeared above Natsu's head. Seconds later, he took a deep breath, the dizziness completely gone, and he sprang back to life. "Man, it feels great to be sitting in the guild!!"

"Sitting in the guild?" Lucy blinked, confused. "Is that illusion magic? It can actually cure motion sickness?!"

Roger shrugged. "It's not really a cure. It just makes him think he's in the guild instead of on a moving vehicle, so he doesn't feel sick."

Lucy: "== That's some weird logic, but it actually works."

Happy, munching on a fish nearby, explained, "Roger's illusion magic messes with your senses. It's not like regular illusion magic—even if you know you're under a spell, you can't escape the illusion he creates."

"So Natsu doesn't get motion sickness unless his power surpasses Roger's, which, y'know, isn't happening," Happy added, waving a paw dismissively.

Lucy: "== Geez, you don't hold back, do you?"

Erza pulled out an old-looking leather map and spread it on the small table. A glowing red dot moved slowly across it. She tapped a station marker ahead of the dot. "According to the tracking mark, the dark guild members will reach 'Kunugi' station soon."

"If we get there before them, we can snatch 'Lullaby' right out of their hands!"

Lucy leaned in curiously to inspect the map. "Is this a tracking magic item? It's my first time seeing one."

"Exactly," Erza nodded. "You infuse magic into this 'Tracking Orb,' and it creates a mark that lasts a week. Once the mark's on the target, their location shows up on this map in real time."

"That's so cool!" Lucy exclaimed.

Roger studied the map for a moment before lightly tapping the train window. A translucent "phantom" with an unfamiliar face and wings materialized outside. It nodded to the group inside before vanishing with a whoosh.

Roger pointed to a larger hub station ahead of Kunugi on the map. "Next, we head straight to 'Oshibana' station. I'll have the phantom lure the dark guild there."

"It's a busy station, so word about 'Lullaby' being stolen will spread fast."

Lucy frowned, a bit worried. "But… if news about 'Lullaby' spreads in a crowded place, won't that cause panic and lead to chaos or injuries?"

Roger smiled faintly. "Don't worry. In this whole mess, the only ones getting hurt are the Magic Council and those dark guild losers. No civilians will be harmed."

Lucy blinked, then remembered the info Roger had shared earlier, her eyes widening. "Oh, right! 'Lullaby' was originally under the Magic Council's watch! If its seal's broken, they're the ones who'll take the blame!"

"Exactly," Roger said, a cold glint in his eyes. "Especially since this involves 'Zeref's' forbidden magic—top priority stuff."

"Picture this: it's the day of the regular guild master meeting at the Magic Council. Now imagine 'Lullaby' going off right outside their meeting hall—"

He paused for effect.

Lucy gasped. "That… that'd mean most of the guild masters would—?!" She couldn't even finish the thought.

"Even if the stronger guild masters survive, they'd be heavily weakened," Roger added, his lips curling into a meaningful smirk. "So, to make sure the Council can't dodge responsibility, we need more people to 'witness' this event."

"And, y'know, it'll give Fairy Tail some good PR, make us look great in the public's eyes."

He glanced out at the scenery speeding by, his smile deepening. "Who knows? That 'good impression' might come in handy someday."

Lucy shivered at his expression and quickly looked away, her gaze landing on Erza, who was resting with her eyes closed. Curiosity got the better of her. "Oh, by the way! I heard Fairy Tail has two super-strong female wizards, right? Erza's the 'Fairy Queen,' but the other one's called… 'Demon,' I think?"

"I haven't seen her at the guild yet. Is she out on a job?"

"Oh~?" Mirajane, who'd been dozing against the seat, cracked open one eye, a playful smirk spreading across her face.

Her gaze flicked to Happy and Gray, who were about to stop Lucy from digging herself deeper. One look from Mirajane, and both the cat and the ice mage clammed up instantly, like their throats had been sealed shut.

Then, with a sweet smile, Mirajane turned to Lucy. "She's off taking down a dark guild on a request. Why're you asking about her, Lucy?"

A sudden chill washed over Lucy, and she rubbed her arms. "N-Nothing, just curious, y'know…"

"I heard she's crazy strong. Like, she once destroyed a whole town on a job? I was just wondering what she's like."

Her voice dropped lower. "And, uh, I heard people compare her to Erza a lot, wondering who's stronger."

Mirajane's smile turned dazzling, her eyes glinting with a dangerous spark. "Oh? So, Lucy, who do you think is stronger~?"

The question hit like a thunderbolt. Natsu, Gray, and Happy went pale, sweat pouring down their backs. In perfect sync, they turned to stare out the window, shrinking into the corners of their seats, silently screaming in their heads:

Lucy, shut up! Don't answer! Look over here! Danger alert!!
