I Was So Scared!
Dina heard Xu Mo's words, and a bright smile spread across her face.
"You're still as smart as ever! But I don't understand—why didn't you deny it? Why did you play along with me?"
Her puzzled gaze fell on Xu Mo.
Xu Mo sighed. Only then did he realize the truth.
There had been no cheating at all—everything had been part of this woman's plan.
After their breakup, Dina had held a grudge. She deliberately chose Blake, the son of a mafia family, as her boyfriend. Then she staged little "mistakes" that made Blake suspect Xu Mo of scheming against him.
In such a setup, no man could tolerate the humiliation. And for someone raised in a gangster household, Blake would naturally retaliate with every means at his disposal.
Xu Mo had to admit—this woman was ruthless.
If she hadn't confessed herself, he—without his predecessor's memories—might really have been fooled.
He shook his head with a faint smile.
"Why go this far?"
Dina's face twisted into a crazed grin.
"Because I want you dead! No one gets rid of me first—I'm the one who gets rid of others!"
Xu Mo was taken aback.
"Just because of this? You're insane…"
His calm, pitying look stung her. She had wanted to see anger, fear, regret—to savor his downfall. Instead, his indifference enraged her.
Her voice sharpened.
"Oh, and one more thing! The reason your parents never received their pension, your house was repossessed, and you lost all your part-time jobs—it was me! I arranged it all. How does that feel? Furious yet?"
She looked at him triumphantly, expecting an outburst.
Xu Mo kept his eyes on the road, voice steady.
"So you really do have too much free time."
He remembered Jason mentioning Dina's father was a state legislator. With that kind of influence, her sabotage was plausible.
Dina's smugness wavered.
"Impossible! You should be furious. I've ruined you, tangled you with a gangster's son, and destroyed your life!"
Xu Mo turned to her.
"And aren't you afraid I'll just kill you right now? If the gangs are coming for me, why not drag you down too?"
"Do you dare?" she sneered. "If you kill me, you'll be hunted by the government. They'll find you no matter where you hide."
Her words revealed her real intent—not to kill him, but to force him into a life of fear, running forever.
Vicious enough, Xu Mo thought, his lips curling slightly.
"You analyze well," he said. "But you still don't understand me."
His gaze shifted to the road ahead. They were on a cliffside path, a sheer drop into a raging river below.
"Tell me," Xu Mo asked softly, "if we fell from here, would we survive?"
Dina's face drained of color.
"What are you doing?"
Her bravado crumbled. She might be manipulative, but she wasn't unafraid of death.
"Of course," Xu Mo said with a smile, "I'll take you to see the little goldfish."
With that, he wrenched the steering wheel. The car skidded toward the edge.
Dina's panic erupted.
"No—no! I'll make Blake leave you alone! Don't do this!"
But Xu Mo ignored her.
The right front wheel slipped off the cliff's edge. Dina screamed, clinging to the handle above the window as the car tilted into the abyss.
Then—suddenly—the car jerked back, balanced as if by invisible hands, and swung onto solid ground again. Xu Mo's telekinesis held it steady before it slammed back onto the road.
Tires screeched. The car halted.
Xu Mo turned his head calmly.
Dina sat frozen, hair a mess, eyes vacant. A dripping sound broke the silence. Xu Mo's gaze shifted downward—her jeans were soaked, a puddle spreading beneath her seat.
"Great," he muttered. "Now I have to wash the car."
At that moment, Dina broke down. Tears streamed down her face.
"Shut up," Xu Mo snapped coldly.
She flinched, silenced instantly.
"Get out of the car. Take off your pants."
Terrified, she obeyed. The arrogance of a pampered politician's daughter had crumbled. Now she was meek as a frightened chick.
Holding the wet garment, Xu Mo only glanced at it while Dina stammered:
"I… I don't have any other clothes with me. Can I at least wrap it in a bag?"
A few minutes later, the car was back on the road.
But as Xu Mo drove, he transferred his accumulated resentment into Dina's body, cloaking it with dark energy to mask the change.
Because he'd hung back, the cars ahead noticed nothing.
