The Second Time Traveling
A few days later, inside the Star Tower.
Xu Mo closed the book in his hand. With accelerated time, he had already finished reading everything he had borrowed. Mastering the spells would take longer, but as he expected, they didn't improve his strength significantly.
Every day, he checked on the development of his clone. The giant cocoon remained unchanged, which made sense—something as profound as an incarnation of the Beast God's innate laws could not be born easily. For now, the clone would not be ready, and his strength could not yet reach the star level.
That meant he had to rely on external forces: weapons and technology.
Laser cannons. Starships. Tools that could change the tide of a battle. A C9-class laser cannon, for instance, could annihilate an entire city in a single strike. He could do the same with shortcuts, but the weapon's advantage lay in speed and precision—it could lock onto moving targets and fire at the speed of light, leaving no chance to dodge.
Another option was cultivating plant lifeforms. In combat, such creatures overwhelmed practitioners of the same level, with some capable of fighting a hundred opponents alone. With enough resources, they could even be raised to cosmic or domain master levels in a short time—though the cost would be astronomical.
Opening his properties panel, Xu Mo glanced at his points: around 870,000. Thanks to the special forces, he'd gained roughly 300,000 to 400,000 recently. Not bad, but still a drop in the bucket compared to what he wanted.
Even the cheapest C9-class laser cannon required more than three million points. At this pace, relying only on the special forces, it would take months.
So he chose another path: his second dream walk.
Seated in the practice room, his body lifted gently into the air as his soul slipped once again before the colossal Tree of Time. From the outside, one could not see what worlds lay within its branches. Xu Mo selected a branch thicker than the one from his last journey and dove in.
Judging by its size, this world likely had supernatural powers.
A haze filled his mind, then cleared.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a cramped, dark space. He glanced at the clothes hanging beside him.
"A wardrobe?"
Before he could react, a woman's voice came from outside:
"Honey, why are you back?"
Xu Mo froze.
A cheating scene?
And worse—was he the other man?
Damn it.
His face darkened. What was wrong with these alternate selves? The last one had stolen another man's girlfriend. This one had gone further, seducing someone's wife.
Then again… reflecting on his own past twenty years, Xu Mo couldn't exactly call himself virtuous either.
Still, he needed to assess his situation. The woman outside clearly knew this version of him, but barging out immediately would draw suspicion. Better to wait until her husband left.
Just as he prepared to open a space door to leave, a problem struck him: there wasn't enough room inside the wardrobe. He shifted the clothes aside, probing outside with his mental power.
His expression soured.
A man stood right outside, gripping the wardrobe handles. Behind him, a blonde woman in purple pajamas held a baseball bat.
The man pulled. The doors began to open.
Then—crack!
The woman swung the bat into the man's neck. He collapsed instantly.
Xu Mo's eyelids twitched. Not only is she cheating—she's planning to kill her husband too?!
The woman yanked the wardrobe open and barked:
"Come out, now!"
Startled, Xu Mo stepped out. He studied her carefully. She was young, tall—nearly 1.7 meters—with golden hair cascading over her shoulders, large bright eyes, fair skin, and a curvaceous figure. Like Alyssa in the last world, this counterpart's taste was impeccable.
"Take your clothes," the woman said briskly, shoving them into his arms. "Hurry up and leave before he wakes up!"
Xu Mo sighed. A purple light flashed in his eyes. Black mist slid from his hand into the unconscious man's mind. He had no intention of leaving without answers.
Locking eyes with the woman, he asked evenly, "What's my name?"
"Xu Mo," she answered in a daze.

Half an hour later, Xu Mo exited the house with a better understanding of this world.
Ironically, his other self lived directly across the street. Bold enough to seduce the young neighbor—dangerous enough to get himself killed.
From her, he learned more about this body's background: an orphan, a college student who had just graduated from Pennsylvania State University—Wanda Maximoff's university.
