Chapter 60 – Fengxiu's Reprimand, Divinity and Fire

"What is going on? The seventy-first Demon Pillar… has vanished?"

"Not only that, but I couldn't prevent it, couldn't restore it. How could this be possible?"

Agarez's expression darkened with confusion. He stared toward the place where the Wolf Demon Pillar once stood, his eyes unsettled, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

In the blink of an eye, he left his palace and appeared at the site. Where the towering pillar once emanated an immortal aura, there was now nothing but emptiness—completely dissolved, turned into void.

Even more unnerving was that no lingering demonic energy remained. It had dissipated utterly, as though erased from existence.

Agarez froze.

He was a powerhouse with eight hundred thousand spiritual power, yet even he could not catch the faintest trace of how it had disappeared. Ridiculous—unthinkable.

With his mind in turmoil, he quickly returned to his palace and set out along a hidden path toward another residence.

"Third Brother," he called as he entered.

The residence belonged to Vashak, the Star Demon God—the third pillar of the demon hierarchy.

"Second Brother, why are you so agitated? What have you discovered? Do you need me to divine something?" Vashak looked puzzled, not yet aware of the situation.

Renowned as the intellect of the demon race, Vashak's wisdom was unmatched. His mastery of divination had often given their armies decisive advantage over the humans.

"The Demon Pillar… has vanished," Agarez said gravely.

"Second Brother, what are you talking about? How could a Demon Pillar vanish? At present, no power capable of destroying one has even appeared!" Vashak shook his head in disbelief.

"Try divining it yourself. I wish I were mistaken—but I checked with my own eyes. It's gone."

"…Which pillar?" Vashak asked. He had long since given up the authority to monitor the other pillars directly, finding it unnecessary, but with effort—or with a simple question—he could still learn.

"The seventy-first—Wolf Demon Pillar," Agarez answered.

At once, Vashak performed his divination. His senses pierced into the unseen currents, tracing the fate of the pillar. A moment later, his eyes widened. He had witnessed it: the towering pillar dissolving in mere moments, dispersing into pure energy and vanishing into the demon realm itself.

Vashak was stunned. Only now did he believe Agarez had spoken no lie.

"…It's true."

Agarez looked at him bitterly. "So you see. It has indeed vanished. Even with my strength, I cannot restore it."

Vashak exhaled heavily. "If even you cannot, then only our eldest brother remains. Matters involving the Demon Pillars will not have escaped his notice."

"We have no choice," Agarez muttered.

Just then, a voice echoed from the side: "No need to seek me—I am already here."

Both turned sharply.

A tall, elegant man in flowing black robes stood before them, his presence sharp as a blade, his eyes brimming with authority.

"Big Brother!" Agarez and Vashak saluted at once.

The newcomer was none other than Fengxiu, the Sun Demon God—the Demon Emperor himself.

His face was cold, devoid of the warmth he sometimes showed his brothers. As Demon Emperor, and with the fate of the Demon Pillars at stake, he could allow no softness.

"What happened to the Demon Pillar? Why did one suddenly vanish?"

Fengxiu's voice rang out sharply. It wasn't until Vashak transmitted his divination results to him that the Demon Emperor fell into heavy thought.

"The seventy-first Demon God was the Wolf Demon, wasn't he? That was your chosen subordinate, Second Brother?" Fengxiu turned his gaze on Agarez.

"Yes. I selected him at that time, and so he became the Wolf Demon God," Agarez admitted without defiance.

"And where is he now?" Fengxiu asked.

"He went hunting among the humans. But from what I sense now, he is dead—and his Demon Crown has shattered with him."

"The moment the crown broke, the Demon Pillar also dissipated, vanishing completely, beyond my ability to sense."

Agarez's tone was grave. At this point, concealment was meaningless—better to speak plainly.

Fengxiu was silent for a moment before meeting his brother's eyes. His voice was cold and commanding. "He was your subordinate, granted power by your hand. You will personally recover the Demon Pillar. If you fail, even as the Moon Demon God, you will pay the price."

"You have not forgotten our ultimate purpose, have you? To prevent the rise of Austin Griffin, the seventy-two Demon Pillars must not suffer even the slightest loss!"

His words thundered through the hall. Then he shifted his gaze toward Vashak. "You will assist Agarez. Find the pillar swiftly—or at the very least, discover why it vanished."

With that, Fengxiu turned and left.

Agarez and Vashak both bowed deeply. "Understood. We respectfully see Your Majesty off."

At this moment, their bond as brothers no longer mattered. Between them stood only the roles of emperor and subjects—roles that would remain until the Demon Pillar was restored.

Dawn broke across the horizon.

Atop Odin Mountain, Ye Ling sat cross-legged. Behind him loomed the phantom of the Six-Winged Angel Spirit, holding a translucent Angelic Holy Sword, silently rehearsing its forms.

As the sun rose, the holy spirit raised its sword toward the heavens, as though saluting the blazing dawn.

The sunlight seemed to answer in kind.

Sensing this resonance, Ye Ling slowly opened his eyes. Unflinching before the radiance, he gazed directly into the rising sun.

In that moment, comprehension stirred within him. His eyes widened slightly as realization struck.

"The Six-Winged Angel is also a sovereign of the sun. Divinity and flame—at the peak of flame lies the sun itself. With my current strength, I cannot yet touch the Sun's power. But when I reach the right level… I may truly master it."

His voice was quiet, but his heart pounded. The power of the sun—one of the most terrifying forces in existence—surpassing even the moon and the stars, and greater than any earthly treasure. It was power far beyond human reach.

And with that thought came another.

"Fengxiu. As Demon Emperor, you too are the Sun Demon, wielder of the sun's might. But when I stand at the ninth rank—if fate grants us battle on the same field—then I will let you taste the difference…"

"The difference between a mere Sun Demon, and the true Master of the Sun."
