Chapter 57 Killing the Wolf Demon Isn't Enough, One Must Strike Its Heart!
When the Wolf Demon God was less than a meter away, a haze of grayish aura flared around Ye Ling. In an instant, his figure vanished, reappearing fifty meters away. Even as a Demon God, equivalent to a human eighth-rank peak, he could not discern how Ye Ling had moved.
Behind Ye Ling unfurled radiant wings of light, their feathers beating as he hovered in midair. From above he looked down with a faint smile.
In any other situation he would never flaunt himself so openly—his spirit power was limited, and a being of this level could easily seize him if he overplayed his hand. But now was different. Above, a human supreme already stood ready, clad in full might.
"What?" The Wolf Demon God was shaken. How could a mere fourth-rank human escape him? It was absurd, breaking his very understanding of the world.
Before he could process it, luminous chains of light surged forth from the Throne of Seals where Long Xingyu sat, binding the Wolf Demon God completely.
At the same time, soldiers of slaughter born from the throne descended, sweeping through the battlefield. In moments, the surviving half of the wolf demons were annihilated, their forms dissolving into scattered essence. Such was the authority of a divine weapon.
The knights around gazed upward, eyes solemn and reverent. None knelt, but every man raised his right hand to his left breast, offering the truest salute of their order. This was the brilliance of Long Xingyu.
Long Haochen, watching silently, felt awe stirring within him. He had always known his father was strong, but never realized he was a Seal Knight—the very kind he yearned to emulate.
He remembered Li Xin's praises of these knights, wondering when he might meet one to study under. Who could have thought his own father, with whom he had trained a year, was already such a figure?
In the distance, Cai'er's expression remained composed, yet even her guarded heart rippled at the sight.
"So this is the Knight's Throne of Seals? How terrifying. To see a divine weapon wielded at full strength… this is the foundation of the Knight Temple, the very reason it stands foremost among the Six Temples."
For the first time she understood why even her proud grandfather had bowed to Yang Haohan, the Temple's current master.
"Cai'er, let me guess—you're marveling at the throne's might, wondering what level you'd reach if you could wield such a weapon?" Ye Ling's voice sounded beside her, his eyes curious.
She did not deny it, nodding lightly.
"Silly girl," Ye Ling said, ruffling her hair. "Long Xingyu's mastery of the throne is terrifying, but much of its force comes from his own strength. Your Reincarnation Blades—aside from the Eternal Throne itself—outclass all others. In time, perhaps you'll wield artifacts of that level too. And when that day comes, I'll make sure you have them."
Cai'er understood perfectly. If anyone else had said such words, she would not have believed them. But this was Ye Ling.
"Then I'll wait for that day, Ye Ling-ge," she answered solemnly, her eyes shining with trust.
"It won't be too late," Ye Ling said with a smile.
Then his expression turned serious as he looked toward the horizon. Right now was the moment Long Xingyu was holding the Wolf Demon God at bay; stepping forward himself was also the right time. He quickly clasped Cai'er's small hand, brought Long Haochen along, and led them into the domain of the Throne of Judgment.
The hidden guards within had intended to block them but, sensing Long Xingyu's bloodline within Long Haochen, allowed them through instead, even opening a side path and granting the main seat to Long Haochen.
Good grief, Ye Ling thought to himself, even these dead constructs play favorites—classic nepotism.
He said nothing more, only signaling for Long Haochen to proceed. The three moved on together. As they walked, Ye Ling observed the materials and structure of the Throne of Judgment, trying to gauge its composition and capabilities.
But obviously, he could glean nothing. Not because of secrecy—he simply had no time. With only his eyes, there was no way to analyze such a divine artifact.
"Forget it. When I meet Teacher Xingyu later, I'll ask if he'll let me study it. If he agrees, that would be great."
With that thought, Ye Ling continued forward.
Ahead they saw the Wolf Demon God, bound tight by chains, shouting at Long Xingyu.
"Long Xingyu, don't be complacent! The moment you wield the Throne of Slaughter, the Seventh Demon God, the Berserk Demon God Anan, will immediately come for you—there will be no rest until death!
"Lord Agares, forgive me! I've failed your orders. I did not bring glory to the demons. I deserve death!"
The Wolf Demon God roared, but Ye Ling, walking quietly up, echoed softly, "Indeed you deserve death. So hurry and die, before the Moon Demon God comes to kill you himself."
His words made Long Xingyu jump. When had they arrived? Why had the Throne's soldiers let them pass? Yet Long Xingyu did not ask, only kept his focus on the Wolf Demon God, avoiding new complications.
"It's you!"
"Human—it's you! If not for you, I would not have failed. The Moon Demon God's radiance will shine here. I will kill you!"
Though Long Xingyu was the stronger one and had crushed his hopes, in the Wolf Demon God's eyes Ye Ling was the true culprit. Without Ye Ling, none of this would have happened.
"You want to kill me?" Ye Ling looked puzzled. After a moment's thought, he took a chair from his storage space, set it down, sat, and said lightly, "Then come over. I'll sit right here, waiting for you to kill me."
"Remember—you must kill me. Otherwise, I'll look down on you."
Wolf Demon God: "!!!"
