Telepathy magic, commonly known as Mind Whisper.
In Fairy Tail, there's a mage named Warren who uses this magic, and it played a critical role in several major battles. It's perfect for scouting intel, relaying information, and issuing battle tactics, instantly connecting every teammate. In combat, its strategic value is unmatched.
In the original story, Warren even invented mini communication devices and a satellite map using this magic—talk about a genius.
To push the limits of his own magical tools, Kira had studied telepathy magic in depth a few years ago. Learning it wasn't particularly hard; the only real requirement was immense mental strength, something Kira had in spades.
Three minutes ago…
"Wendy, I'm gonna need to borrow your water magic in a bit!" Kira' voice echoed in Wendy's mind.
Caught off guard, Wendy quickly realized it was Kira speaking to her telepathically. To keep their plan hidden from the enemy, he was using this method. "Here's the plan: do this, then that…"
"Will that actually work?" Wendy asked.
"Worth a shot! Just make sure you sell it!"
"Got it!"
Now…
As molten lava shattered Ace's icy form into fragments, Wendy unleashed a torrent of water that swept across the battlefield. At the same time, Kira wove his own magic into the mix.
The water washed away centuries-old snow from the mountain, leaving only bare rock in its wake, not a single drop lingering. Their combined magic stripped away all moisture within a meter of Ace.
Using trace amounts of water and his own dwindling magic, Ace struggled to reform his body, gasping for breath. The loss of moisture and the subtle drain of his magic left him unable to cast high-level ice magic anymore.
"What's going on? It was just a simple lava spell—how did it drain so much of my magic?" Ace muttered, bewildered.
In truth, whether it was the fiery pillar that erupted up close, the lava that rained down on him, or the water Wendy left behind for him to reform his body, Kira had laced everything with something extra: magic-sealing potion.
This potion, crafted from trace substances extracted from magic-sealing stones, was Kira' invention, designed to weaken and suppress an enemy's magic. His Word Soul spell, Magic Drain, was inspired by this very substance.
Colorless and odorless, the potion was nearly impossible for enemies to detect, and it worked whether ingested or absorbed through the skin.
First, Kira evaporated the potion into the air as moisture, letting Ace unknowingly breathe it in. Then, he encased magic-sealing stones in the lava that struck around Ace, creating a "magic-sealing zone." Finally, Wendy's water magic stripped away all other moisture, leaving only the potion-laced water for Ace to use in reforming his body, ensuring the potion seeped into him.
"What… my magic…" Ace gasped, collapsing to his knees as his magic reserves plummeted.
With what little magic he had left, he could no longer transform into his elemental form, and even his ice magic's potency was drastically reduced.
Just like using Seastone against a Logia user—works every time! Kira thought smugly.
"It's working!" Wendy exclaimed, relieved.
"Chain Bind!"
Seizing the moment, Kira manipulated the rocks beneath Ace, shaping them into chains to bind him. These rocks, formed from the lava that had melted the snow, were infused with magic-sealing stone properties—essentially magical handcuffs.
But a century-old demon like Ace wasn't going down that easily. Even a beast with a hundred years of life could achieve something, let alone a demon with superior magical talent.
The sudden attack didn't trap Ace. Instead, it alerted him to the oddity beneath his feet. Dodging the chains, he leaped out of the "magic-sealing zone" and landed in front of the Sea Demon King's ice statue.
"What, still protecting your so-called 'master' even now?" Kira asked, genuinely curious. Is this guy's brain broken? Spending decades on a Demon King he's never even met, and now, on the verge of defeat, he's still guarding it?
If you were devoted to Zeref, I might respect you a bit. But some random Sea Demon King? What's that about?
Plus, it was still trapped in Absolute Zero. Wouldn't they need a ton of Moon Drip to break the seal? Wait… Moon Drip. Didn't they say they'd already gathered enough? Why haven't they used it? Waiting for an eclipse or something?
Kira glanced at the sky, frowning. Something felt off. Time to test it.
"Fireball!" "Flame Burst!"
A crimson magic circle formed in the air, launching a massive fireball that exploded mid-flight. But with a wave of Ace's hand, it froze into a chunk of ice and shattered on the ground.
Kira' confusion deepened. Ordinary fire magic couldn't break Absolute Zero—Ace should know that. So why bother blocking it?
Was it not just a reflex when he blocked Kira' Energy Impact earlier? Was there another reason?
A chilling thought hit him: What if Absolute Zero was already undone?
Immense magic power, same-element magic, a weakened ice demon, a sealed Sea Demon King, an eclipse… The fragmented clues started forming a picture in Kira' mind, like pieces of a puzzle.
Before he could confirm his theory, the sky darkened.
The eclipse had begun!
Noticing the sudden change, Wendy stepped closer to Kira. "What's happening?"
"Something's not right. Stay on guard," Kira warned.
The sky darkened rapidly, plunging Mount Zonia into shadow.
But the expected scene—using Moon Drip to break Absolute Zero—never came. Ace made no move, and Kira grew more certain: the so-called plan was a lie spun by Ace.
"Ugh, what a sneaky bastard!" Kira spat. "I knew a creepy old guy tricking naive kids had to be up to no good!"
Wendy tilted her head, confused. "What's going on? Wasn't he supposed to use Moon Drip to break the seal during the eclipse? Why isn't he doing anything?"
"That's not Absolute Zero," Kira explained. "Either the legend's wrong, or he already used Moon Drip to break it long ago. Whatever's freezing that demon now is his ice."
He continued, "That's why the magic-sealing potion worked so fast—most of his magic's been poured into maintaining that ice!"
"Then what's the eclipse for?"
Kira shook his head. "No clue. Maybe just a trick to fool the others?"
But he was wrong, and Ace's next words revealed the truth. "Hahaha! The moment has finally come! Become my power, Sea Demon King!"
It clicked for Kira instantly: reviving the Sea Demon King was about absorbing its power. Waiting for the eclipse was to ensure Ace's strength was at its peak. And deceiving naive kids like Chloe? That was either to recruit lackeys—or to steal their power too.
