Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 30 – Unexpected Guests

Monarch Dorm – Fan Signing Event, Late Morning

The gymnasium had been transformed into a fan wonderland: long tables draped in black velvet, posters of Monarch plastered on every wall, a soft hum of anticipation buzzing through the air. The scent of fresh flowers mingled with faint perfume from fans, the clatter of cameras, and the excited murmur of thousands waiting to see their idols up close.

Jiwon sat at the center of the main table, posture immaculate, hands folded over the edge. Black blazer over a crisp white shirt, crown discreetly pinned at his collar for this casual event. Zayn and Kai flanked him, grinning and chatting with fans as though they were old friends, while Min quietly handed signed albums, and EO playfully waved at a fan holding a custom fan banner.

The atmosphere was warm, relaxed—different from the stage. The adrenaline of performing was gone, replaced with something more human: laughter, shy smiles, and the occasional squeal of fangirls overwhelmed by proximity to their idols.

"Hyung, that kid brought homemade cookies for you," EO whispered, nudging Jiwon gently.

Jiwon offered a small, polite smile. "Thank them," he said softly, his eyes scanning the crowd.

Kai's Chaos and Min's Calm

Kai, naturally, was loud and entertaining, leaning into the camera, striking dramatic poses for selfies, making fans laugh until their stomachs hurt.

Min, by contrast, moved quietly, almost ghostlike among the rows of chairs, always seeming to sense when a fan needed encouragement, a smile, or a kind word. His presence was grounding, balancing Kai's chaos and EO's bubbly energy.

Zayn, ever watchful, noticed everything—the crowd's energy, the way fans reacted to Jiwon, even the subtle shifts in his leader's expression whenever the cameras briefly caught him staring toward the entrance.

The Unexpected Entrance

And then… the doors at the far end of the gym opened with a soft click.

A ripple of surprise passed through the staff.

Yul stepped in first. Just Yul. No announcement. No fanfare. Just… Yul. White trench coat catching the morning light streaming through the windows, golden hair almost luminescent, eyes sharp and aware. Behind him, his Equinox members followed, casual but still radiating star power—Juno with crossed arms, Dara scanning the room, Rien quietly observing, Nox bouncing lightly on his feet.

A hush fell over the room. Fans murmured, some froze mid-photo, eyes wide. Phones whipped out like weapons. The media present immediately pivoted, livestreams glitching as everyone tried to capture the unexpected moment.

Jiwon's heartbeat quickened, pulse ticking like a drum under his skin. He looked up. And there it was: Yul's gaze, sharp, deliberate, landing squarely on him.

Not the fans. Not the cameras. Him.

Small Talk Turns Personal

Kai nearly jumped out of his seat. "Uh… hey?" he said, nervously waving at Yul. Min's calm stare only deepened. Zayn's hand went to Jiwon's shoulder, subtle, grounding.

Yul smiled faintly, walking with fluid grace toward the table. "We were in the neighborhood," he said lightly, though the weight behind his tone made every syllable heavy. "Thought we'd see what Monarch was up to."

Jiwon's jaw tightened, though he didn't rise. "You didn't announce yourselves. Surprising your fans—or ours?" he asked.

"Both," Yul replied, leaning slightly on the table's edge, close enough for the fans to notice the subtle electricity between the two leaders.

EO squeaked quietly, nudging Min. "I think… they like each other," he whispered.

Min raised an eyebrow. "I think everyone can feel it."

Fan Reactions & Media Chaos

Phones were shaking. Videos uploaded in seconds. Hashtags spiked again:

#SUNFIRE#REXxSOL#UnexpectedCollab (even though it wasn't a real collab)

Fans screamed and clapped, some too starstruck to register that Monarch was still signing.

Zayn finally leaned in, whispering to Jiwon: "Careful. This isn't the stage. But… it's still dangerous."

Jiwon's eyes never left Yul. "I can handle danger," he murmured.

Yul smirked. "We'll see."

Equinox Joins In—Casually Performing

Then, Yul's gaze swept the room. With a subtle nod, the room's tech team followed his silent instruction: speakers hummed to life, and a soft instrumental version of Equinox's newest song began to fill the gym.

It wasn't planned. It wasn't collaborative—but it was mesmerizing. Yul's voice cut in, crystal clear and impossibly captivating, starting with the first verse:

"Falling stars trace the night,Whispers of what we cannot fight…"

Fans froze mid-breath. Every note, every pitch-perfect slide through the melody, was magnetic. Even Monarch found themselves leaning forward, drawn in.

Kai's mouth went slack. "He's… unreal."

Zayn's hand tightened on Jiwon's arm. "Focus," he said, though his own eyes were glued to Yul.

Min's expression softened, completely entranced. EO's fingers twitched as if he were absorbing the rhythm through his skin.

And Jiwon… Jiwon felt the pull—the thrill of a challenge, the ache of desire, the hunger to push himself further—just to keep up with Yul's brilliance.

Choreography Sparks in the Air

As the song progressed, Yul moved with effortless grace, stepping lightly across the gym floor, weaving among fans without disturbing a soul, hands fluid, movements almost too delicate to describe. The choreography didn't just complement the lyrics—it told a story, a story of longing, danger, and unspoken connection.

Fans recorded, whispered, gasped. Monarch watched, absorbing every nuance.

"This… this is why we push ourselves," Jiwon murmured to no one in particular, gaze fixed on Yul.

Kai laughed, frustrated and inspired at once. "Yeah… we've got work to do. Right now. After this, we're going bigger."

Even Min nodded, subtle but certain. "We have to. We can't let that… energy go to waste."

The Aftermath

When the song ended, a brief, stunned silence filled the room. Then an eruption of cheers. Phones everywhere. Fans clapping, screaming, nearly crying.

Yul's eyes found Jiwon's again—just for a heartbeat—then he and Equinox began to slip toward the exit, casual, like they hadn't just captivated an entire gym full of people.

Jiwon exhaled, feeling the spark linger. The air between them still thrummed.

Zayn leaned closer. "Dangerous," he said again.

Jiwon's lips curved into a small smile, shadows in his eyes. "Yes. But I like it."
