Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5- The Blood in the Mirror

"Veil of Flame" Official Release

12:00 AM.

The music video for "Veil of Flame" dropped at midnight sharp.

Within minutes, it was #1 on YouTube.Within hours, it was the most-streamed K-pop release of the year.Within a day, it shattered records — and expectations.

Fan Theories:

"This is totally about forbidden love. Hunter/demon AU confirmed."

"They're literally singing about each other. This isn't subtext. This is war poetry."

"There are Enochian runes in the background at 2:13. That's angel language. WHAT IS HAPPENING?"

New Hashtag:

#WhoSavesWho??

Monarch Dorm, Night

The celebration should've felt like a victory.

The living room was littered with food containers and soda cans. Kai had made a playlist called "Enemies to Lovers: The Dangerous Edition."

EO was dancing around in socks.

Min stood in the corner, silent.

Jiwon smiled tightly, heart not in it. His fingers traced the faint edge of the glowing charm still sewn into his sleeve.

Zayn noticed. "You're somewhere else, hyung."

"I'm listening."

"To what?"

Jiwon looked toward the window.

"...Something's wrong."

-The Attack.

Time: 3:09 AM.

Min woke up first.

Not to a sound. To a pressure.Like something massive breathing against the edge of reality.

He stepped into the hallway—barefoot, hoodie half-zipped.

The air was wrong.Too still. Too heavy. The overhead lights flickered.

He turned—And the mirror at the end of the hall began to bleed.

Literally bleed.

Thick, black-red ichor ran down the glass in rivulets.

A face pressed through.Sharp teeth. Hollow eyes. Not Yul. Not anyone Jiwon had warned him about.

Min screamed.

The Battle.

Jiwon burst into the hallway first, shirtless, weapon drawn.

The demon emerged full-form from the mirror — long-limbed, twitching, its body crackling with distorted glamour. It wasn't posing as human.

It didn't care.

It lunged toward Min.

Zayn came out of his room next, armed only with a chair — he threw it with terrifying precision, knocking the creature off balance.

Jiwon didn't hesitate. He moved like muscle memory: a twist, a slide, a blade through shadow.

But the demon didn't vanish.

It laughed.

And said Yul's name.

"Golden blood… is waking."

That's when it exploded into smoke and vanished, leaving only ichor and fire scorch marks behind.

Min collapsed.

His arm was cut — not badly, but deep enough to leave a mark.

Kai was shaking. EO was crying. Zayn was already locking down the apartment.

Jiwon stood still, breathing hard, knuckles white on the blade.

He looked down the ruined hallway.

And knew.

The war wasn't just coming. It was already here.

The Call.

Jiwon stood alone on the balcony, the city trembling beneath.

He pulled out his phone.

No hesitation this time.

He dialed.

Yul answered before the first ring finished.

"Jiwon."

"You sent it," Jiwon snapped. "That thing."

"I didn't."

"Then who the hell did?"

"Silence."

Yul's voice dropped an octave.

"Someone who wants to burn what we've built. Someone who remembers what we were before.""Jiwon…""You need to let me help you."
