Chapter 271 - Chapter 273: I Want a Black King Fan Club Too!

"Loki escaped!"

On the night Thor met with Loki, Fury gathered everyone and made the announcement.

Everyone's eyes shifted to Thor, who quickly defended himself: "I didn't let him go!"

Fury clarified, "Before Loki was captured, he had Agents under his control infiltrate the facility. They took advantage of the shift change for Coulson to let Loki out!"

"Then what exactly was his goal in getting caught?" Tony asked.

"Barton is awake; he broke free from Loki's mind control," Fury introduced. "He told us Loki's plan."

"Loki has a massive alien fleet at his command!" He dropped the bombshell.

"What?"

As expected, everyone was shocked by the news and cried out in surprise.

The Frost Giants had invaded Earth before, and they operated in a primitive tribal mode, relying on barbarian tactics. Even that had been almost too much for Earth to handle.

Now there was a fleet?

There were only a few hundred Frost Giants, but a large fleet would obviously have far greater numbers. This would be a crisis much larger than the Frost Giant invasion!

THUD!

Thor slammed his fist heavily onto the table: "I knew Loki was up to no good!"

"Quickly notify the Military for full mobilization!" Steve said urgently.

"I'm afraid that won't work." Fury frowned deeply. "Loki used the Helicarrier's back-end to cut off our communication systems. Right now, neither we nor the Military can issue commands normally."

THUD!

Thor angrily slammed the table again: "Loki!"

"It seems Loki intentionally got caught just to cut off our command system. He'll likely launch an attack very soon," Fang Yuan speculated reasonably.

He also had a tight frown, appearing very worried about the current situation.

This immediately reminded Fury of something.

"Ah, no, Loki might have another objective."

Fury quickly shared all the intelligence.

"The Agents he mind-controlled accessed a lot of data, much of which concerned locations in New York City with massive energy sources."

"Massive energy?"

This news immediately caught the attention of the scientists present.

"Exactly. If Loki wants to activate the Tesseract, he must find a way to heat the cube to over a hundred million degrees!" Banner reacted instantly.

Tony picked up the thread: "So he needs a high-density, massive energy source as power!"

Howard frowned, realizing the situation was not simple.

"New York, massive energy sources... why does this sound a bit unsettling?"

"Yeah..." Tony said offhandedly. Suddenly, he and Howard locked eyes and said in unison—

"Stark Tower!"

Stark Tower contained the Arc Reactor prototype Howard had built, which was more than enough to meet Loki's needs.

"Dammit, I just finished renovating my Villa not long ago, and now he's coming to tear down my tower?" Tony cursed angrily.

Fang Yuan immediately mobilized everyone: "Since we know Loki's target, get your gear ready. We're moving out!"

Fury also promised immediately: "We will do our best to repair the systems and ensure communications are restored as quickly as possible!"

The Avengers and the Howling Commandos set off, returning to Stark Tower in the shortest possible time.

Time taken... 1 second.

Don't underestimate the abilities of the Chief Sorcerer, hey.

After waiting for nearly two hours, they finally saw someone arrive—

"Rhodes?" Tony went up to meet him in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

"Weren't you in Hong Kong investigating the Ten Rings Gang?" Tony asked.

The Ten Rings Gang was the force that had kidnapped Tony before. The organization was so vast that it hadn't been completely wiped out even after all these years.

Rhodes nodded: "Yes, but not long after I arrived in Hong Kong, the Ten Rings Gang's stronghold was suddenly exposed. There was basically no resistance; I took them down without much effort at all."

"It's really strange. I thought there would be a big battle," Rhodes said.

The basic setting of the American comic World was that the United States was the World's Police.

So Fang Yuan didn't bother to delve into why War Machine was dealing with gangs in Hong Kong.

Anyway, China didn't exist in this setting, so he didn't care how things were set up. It just allowed him to do whatever he wanted.

Regarding Rhodes's confusion, Fang Yuan kept his own contributions hidden.

In fact, the Ten Rings Gang that Rhodes fought were subordinates of Aldrich Killian, the behind-the-scenes boss of Iron Man 3. The goal had been to seize the opportunity to control War Machine.

But Fang Yuan naturally wouldn't let Killian show up to distract everyone just as the Avengers' big show was about to start.

So he had paid a special visit to the A.I.M. Corporation. Killian had been very reasonable and immediately expressed his willingness to be Fang Yuan's dog.

He even handed over the formula for the Extremis Virus with both hands.

Of course, this didn't mean Killian was exiting the stage for good.

Fang Yuan had said long ago that villains were also a great resource.

When Fang Yuan planned to develop the Vought Corporation, it would be up to him to decide who could jump out and play the villain.

"Let's hope not. The officials rejected the suggestion to evacuate all of New York City, saying they couldn't cause massive losses over an unknown risk," Banner shook his head. "If there really is a big battle, who knows how many casualties there will be."

And Rhodes was the only visitor to Stark Tower that night.

Loki didn't show up at all.

"That's impossible. There's no better energy source in New York than Stark Tower," Tony said, completely baffled.

Fang Yuan, meanwhile, urged them to go back and rest: "Everyone, go get some sleep. Otherwise, if a big battle really happens, none of you will have any energy."

Everyone listened to him and went to rest for the time being, while Fang Yuan quietly opened a Portal and arrived at the top of a building in Midtown Manhattan.

"Are you ready?" Fang Yuan asked.

Loki nodded: "The Arc Reactor has been constructed. It just needs a final calibration."

"The expert you found is very professional."

Their gazes moved downward, where Ivan Vanko was providing technical guidance.

The Arc Reactor wasn't exclusive to Stark—at least not the first generation.

Ivan Vanko had long ago been secretly moved out of his cell by Fang Yuan. Prisons in the United States were like that; as long as you had resources, you could be pulled out even if you were sentenced to hundreds of years.

And all the funding here was supported by Justin Hammer.

Fang Yuan wouldn't let these lackeys he had used before wander off on their own.

However, Ivan, Hammer, or Killian individually wouldn't amount to much. So Fang Yuan planned to gather these villains together to form a 'bad guy' version of the Avengers to unite and do big things.

Batman had his own Gotham fan club, so Fang Yuan couldn't fall behind; he had to have a 'Black King Fan Club' too!

When the time came, with Fang Yuan holding both the Avengers and the Black King Fan Club, he would control both the light and the dark. He could decide which Superhero became famous, so why worry about his grand plans failing?

"But why didn't we go to Stark Tower? There's a ready-made reactor there," Loki asked.

He knew that if Fang Yuan intended to use Stark Tower, he would certainly have found a way to create the opportunity.

"Oh? Because this building has a very good location," Fang Yuan shrugged, answering Loki's puzzled look.

The location was great, so it was perfect for building the headquarters of the Vought Corporation.

With Vought's financial power, they could certainly afford to buy a piece of land in Manhattan directly, but why pay a high price when you can get it for free?

When the battle started and this building was destroyed, Vought could buy it at a very low price.

If they wouldn't sell, he'd frame the original owner for colluding with Loki. Since Loki listened to him, whoever he said was an accomplice wouldn't be able to escape responsibility.

This was the wisdom of the Black King.

"By the way, remember to tell the Chitauri not to just send some small fry as cannon fodder," Fang Yuan instructed.

Earth was much better prepared this time, so if the Chitauri didn't provide enough pressure, Fang Yuan's effort in preparing such a big stage for them would go to waste.

"And their mothership—tell the Chitauri to hide it well so it doesn't get taken out by a single nuke," Fang Yuan said with slight disdain. "For such a large interstellar civilization, anyone would know the mothership is their weakness, yet they never thought about installing a shield for it."

"No wonder they were conquered by Thanos."

Loki nodded and raised the Mind Stone Scepter, intending to communicate.

"Anything else to add?" he asked.

Fang Yuan grinned: "Find out exactly where they've put the mothership."

Loki immediately broke into a sly smile: "Of course!"

Deep space.

The location of the Chitauri Legion.

The Chitauri King was reporting progress to his Master.

"Master, in six hours Earth time, the Portal to Earth will open. Then, we will deliver Earth to you!"

The holographic image opposite him was a giant purple sweet potato—ahem, it was the leader of the Black Order, infamous throughout the Universe: Thanos.

"I am waiting for you to fulfill your promise," Thanos responded.

He knew far more than the Chitauri King. Earth was under the joint protection of Asgard and Kamar-Taj, so he didn't think the Chitauri could actually back up their big talk.

Of course, if they succeeded, Thanos wouldn't refuse; it would save him quite a bit of trouble.

Then Thanos asked, "How is Loki? Is he behaving?"

The Chitauri King nodded quickly: "Loki is very obedient. It seems he truly wants to wash away his shame on Earth. He is very diligent and even specifically reminded us to hide the mothership well."

Thanos didn't see any problem with that at first glance, so after a few words of encouragement, he sent his subordinate to test the waters.

10:00 AM, New York time.

A loud alarm suddenly blared through Stark Tower.

Everyone quickly gathered together.

"What happened?" Fang Yuan asked.

"Banner's equipment found the location of the Tesseract!" Tony explained quickly. "It's in Midtown!"

"Loki!" Thor immediately summoned the Meow-Meow Hammer, prepared to teach his disobedient brother a lesson.

"Communications aren't back yet, but we contacted the Military around New York last night." Fang Yuan turned to War Machine. "Rhodes, I need you to make a trip."

Rhodes had the best relationship with the Military among them; if he went to communicate, they would surely get support.

Rhodes naturally wouldn't refuse. Then Fang Yuan looked at everyone and shouted the famous slogan—

"Avengers, assemble!"
