Ashley Larkspur's worries were not unfounded.
Her physical constitution would eventually draw attention.
----
"I know about you and Sister Sarah's story, also about your deal with Brandon Davis," Ashley said without being asked.
"Earlier, I thought you weren't good enough for Sarah, but now, I think you're the only one fit for her, so you have to win."
"If I really can help improve your abilities...I... I feel like I should help."
Towards the end of her speech, Ashley's voice was barely audible, like that of a mosquito.
"Don't be impulsive, and you're forbidden from having such thoughts," I rebuked sternly.
"I don't need your help, I can win against Brandon Davis. As for you... I'll do everything I can to protect you." I squatted down to face her.
Seeing this, Ashley swiftly replied, "You must promise. If anything happens to me, you'll be responsible."
"Alright, alright. I'm responsible," I replied with a note of helplessness.
"Go meditate, don't waste any more time."
